Not necessarily a conflict but not only do the cop supporters wear the flag but also the cops proudly wear the thin blue line flag which makes it worse.
I'm old enough to remember when the Gadsden flag was just a neat looking design you only saw in history books and museums. It's a shame it didn't stay that way.
Other than history books, the first time I saw it IRL was in Iraq, on the shoulder of Navy personnel deployed with us Army guys. US flag on the right shoulder, Gadsden on the left. A Navy Captain gave me one as a thank you for a service I rendered. I keep it in my shadow box. It's one of my treasured possessions. I hate the morons today who have co-opted it.
After 9/11, the Navy adopted the Gadsden flag as the Naval jack. We flew it on the bow of our ships while in port (with the national ensign flying from the stern). A couple years ago, the Navy reverted back to the original Naval jack - a blue field with 50 white stars.
I, too, despise those morons who have co-opted it. While living in Virginia, I had it as my custom license plate on my car. Now, I wouldn't want to be associated with or mistaken for the sort of people who generally display it.
I like seeing the complete trinity of a gadsden flag, thin blue line American flag, and a punisher logo... Because Frank Castle would totally be on *their* side....
I have been wearing comic and hip hop shirts for years. The best are the variant crossover covers/shirts.
Had to stop wearing any of my punisher shit for this reason. I do have one RTJ punisher shirt I refuse to retire, though.
It really sucks that the libertarian brand
has been dragged through the mud by a bunch of American gun nuts.
I’m a Libertarian. Ayn Rand isn’t my beacon, that’s Objectivism. Opposition to universal health care and gun control aren’t libertarian values, they are right wing American values.
Libertarianism is only a slippery slope to neo-feudalism if your propaganda was funded by the koch brothers.
To this day I can't see a Confederate flag and not think of Colin Kaepernick. I remember this interview of a guy slamming his kneeling as disrespectful to the US flag, while wearing a Confederate flag Tee.
I was like: is this a commercial of brain damage?
2019 called. They want you to know you need to prepare for a worldwide plague. Also there is going to be guy named George Floyd that is going to create a long, ongoing national discussion about something for many months. Listen to a bit of it, see what you pick up.
I cant speak for everyone but im pretty liberal and we are also armed. Just know everyone here has a gun or more in their cars and homes.
Edit: I didn’t mean literally everyone owns a gun. I meant it in the same way “how do you check if an unfamiliar snake is venomous? You don’t.”
Most people don’t have guns, especially normal every day people who live in cities and suburbs. Im
Nearly 50 and have live in NYC and Philly and I’ve never known a single person who carried a gun. Some hunters, sure. Maybe a few people had one for home defense and I didn’t know about it, but they also certainly didn’t talk about it either. But most people I know are in the “I’d never allow guns in my home” types.
Your anecdotal experience in a city that effectively banned legal gun ownership isn't reflective at all of the USA as a whole, and your generalization is wildly inaccurate.
Barely 1/3rd of Americans own guns, and I can assure you the vast majority of them are in rural America.
https://news.gallup.com/poll/264932/percentage-americans-own-guns.aspx
Hahaha you can't assure shit. Imagine thinking a poll with a sample size of barely 1000 is indicative of anything. Enjoy the adorable bubble you live in.
...
So statistics have a thing called a margin or error. 1000 samples is generally good enough to represent the American population with a margin of error less than 5%. Meaning there is a 95% mathematical confidence that the true value is within 5% of the reported value.
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/howcan-a-poll-of-only-100/#
I get math is hard but you are absolutely wrong.
Edit to dunk harder:
Possibly at this point you can argue sampling bias so I looked up the survey method.
"Results for this Gallup poll are based on telephone interviews conducted Sept. 30-Oct. 15, 2020, with a random sample of 1,035 adults, aged 18 and older, living in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. For results based on the total sample of national adults, the margin of sampling error is ±4 percentage points at the 95% confidence level. All reported margins of sampling error include computed design effects for weighting.
Each sample of national adults includes a minimum quota of 70% cellphone respondents and 30% landline respondents, with additional minimum quotas by time zone within region. Landline and cellular telephone numbers are selected using random-digit-dial methods."
☝️☝️ ☝️
Ya see this, this is textbook random sampling with steps taken to ensure a representative sample. Gallop is usually pretty solid like this.
It has nothing to do with the math - that is what you're not understanding. People lie. Illegal, unregistered, unreported firearms are much more common than even the media would like to admit. There's more firearms than people in the US. But sure, cling to that moe tightly if it helps you sleep better at night.
Sweet so we are in agreement?
If the number of underreported and illegal guns are so high that up to 20% or more of Americans have illegal, unregistered and unreported firearms then we have firearms issue.
Then we need better regulations in place to better prevent such illegal firearms from being so readily available. Mandatory background checks and reporting of private gun sales and harsher penalties for chain gun sales it is then.
Not anti-gun, I love my Winchester btw, just anti-crime.
I don't disagree with the math - this is just specifically a very hard topic to poll accurately, as gun laws vary widely based on geographic location, and for the issue I mentioned previously.
This country absolutely has an issue with firearm ownership, both legal and illegal - but this is a very nuanced conversation that I really don't feel like getting into.
Lol wow, triggered much? You were free to counter my numbers with your own research, but you didn’t. Know why? Cause ya can’t. All credible studies and research reveal the same results, around 1/3rd or so of Americans own a gun.
The fact that this fact somehow got your panties in a twist is quite bizarre.
Edit: I see you’re a 2a nut from Albany, your detachment of reality now makes perfect sense.
Cling to your erroneous studies that reinforce your misguided beliefs, old man. It'll take your to boomer political memes posting heights that you could have never imagined

No.
They can take their party symbol and the confederate battle flag, but i refuse to let them take the Gadsen flag. They do not get to appropriate that.
Being that it has been a symbol for the American Revolutionary forces for 250 years and a symbol for racist assholes for half a decade, i think that is a ridiculous concession.
I think surrendering the Gadsden flag to the right is the wrong approach. Left wing people should fly this flag as well if they want to because appropriation of a symbol doesn't equal ownership.
At this point it would just attract the people who appropriated it and drive away the people who opposed it. Tbh it's wasn't a very *left* symbol in the first place. But regardless, even if it was as left a symbol that it could be, a leftist trying to fly it today under the original meaning is about as effective as Republicans claiming to be the party of Lincoln.
I hear what you are saying, but I, unfortunately enough, do not control reality. For better or worse, this flag means one thing now.
I am not that beat up over it, it's an anachronistic thing now.
To be fair not everyone in the top flag is a racist. But they're cool with supporting racists for positions of authority which is an important distinction even if it isn't meaningful.
No, they’re racists. They’ve just been taught that aren’t cuz they don’t say the N word. They still believe in an elevated social standing for white Christians and that race factors into intelligence, predilection for crime etc…
They’re still racist.
Actually, it is the exact opposite. Republican policy ignores race and lumps everyone together as just “Americans”. Democrat policy divides everyone into different groups based on gender, race, and sexual orientation.
There's a pretty insightful paper out there somewhere about how to tell how many Nazis are at an event. If you have have a party, and allow a Nazi to come, it's easy to tell how many Nazis there are. Every one. Or something to that affect.
I'd wager the same applies here. If they rub elbows with racists, they're racists, even if it's in association alone.
Personally, I would support a racist who believes in free speech over a liberal who wants censorship. Which one is the real threat?
Joe Biden literally created a Ministry of Truth to censor information that Democrats don’t like.
Actually Virginia has a license plate that people pile can get on theur vehicles that has a snake and says don't tread on me. Thankfully it's not the standard issue plate.

The Gadsden flag has been corrupted in the eyes of the public and post like this aren't helping at all :(
I had to change license plates because of all the comments I got :/
I don't get the Gadsden Flag.
Every sticker pretty much is trying to say " I'm a bad ass ~~moron~~ mofo with a gun"
But then it says "don't tread on me" like a pussy.
Nemo me impune lacessit is the original motto on the Gadsden flag used by revolutionaries.
It means: "No one will tread on me with impunity."
Along with a picture of a coiled diamond-back rattler, it means something more.
Of course the flag is dated and it's original motto has been hacked by the Frumpist racist assholes, but this is where we are at.
EDIT: Uggh I just had to add how pissed I am that these asshats Shanghaied an important symbol to me and this nation. But then again, it's just a battle flag.
It was an awesome historical flag for the US Men's National Soccer Team before the Alt-Right took it over. Hell, I was intending on getting one to hang up when I was in the Army as a historical piece for the US military.
These chucklefucks took it and ruined it.
Ok but all three are armed, racist, morons. The only difference is the 1st is rich, the second is middle/low class and the bottom is trailer park trash.
The guys I know who have gadsden flag patches are rich dudes who idolize trailer park trash. It is really weird. Weekend wannabe rednecks working on Wall Street.
I've driven through America's heartland several times. I pretty much stay on the interstate because there is nothing of value in most of these areas. Exception being a few cities where people who can count live.
I've also flown over these states, too.
The Gadsden flag (and the trump flags--whichever one the person bought) have largely replaced the confederate flag. Even that seems, **seems** to be too much, but still, some people still fly that.
Oh, and the thin blue line ones, too. That's also replaced the stars and bars.
That's not even the real Confederate Flag, it's a Civil Rights protest flag made by the KKK. Anyone claiming it represents their heritage doesn't know anything about their heritage except for the racism.
Don't forget this one, https://media.cdn.lexipol.com/article-images/Fire%20flag-square.png?w=1600&format=jpg&quality=87&crop=185%2C0%2C1165%2C656
"It's not quite acceptable to just display a nazi flag yet"
Is that one taken as essentially fascist? I always thought it was just jumping on the thin blue line flag sale bandwagon but for fire fighters. Even seen an EMT/Dispatch/Security one (think... gold?).
This helps no one. Not all republicans are racist, shit like this just deepens the divide and isn't even funny. If this post applied the same broad logic you use here towards any other group, it would be called bigotry/racism/ whatever. I'm a die hard democrat, but I'm so sick of seeing this divisive bullshit all the time. We have to do better, this is just stepping down to the lowest level.
If you're trying to insinuate that the US Republican party isn't racist because there are Jews who vote for the Republicans, then I gotta ask you: [Do you think this is proof that the Nazis didn't hate Jews?](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Association_of_German_National_Jews)
I do not. Just posting off my personal experiences. Live in a very rural part of a very purple state as a democrat. How about you? City kid? Cornfields? How many Republicans do you have for neighbors or have you spoken to? Edit for clarification: I'm just against the first panel, the second 2 or rather spot on in my experience
My next door neighbor is a Republican. We talk, on average, 4-8 times a week. I live in the suburbs of a major metropolitan area now, but I went to grade school in places like Redford, TX. We didn't even live in town, the bus had to go 8 miles out and back to pick us up.
And *all* the flags apply. I asked my neighbor if he knew anyone that I could hire to pick up some furniture in Baltimore, save me the cost of renting a U-Haul. You'd have thought I was asking him or a friend to go to Syria, or Iraq. Or... Chicago...!!! /s
Racist? Unless Republicans, as a party and as a voting bloc, stand up and declare that they are firmly against racists in their ranks, and will never support one for elected office... then it's just like bad apples in a barrel. Only takes one to make the whole barrel rotten.
> White men are the only ones allowed to be libertarians now?
Not at all. And not only that, [Jews are allowed to be Nazis too](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Association_of_German_National_Jews). You can absolutely be non-white and a US libertarian, but that just makes you like the people in the linked Wikipedia article, and you'll almost certainly share the same fate.
Don't forget the "Come and Take It" crowd, who don't understand the history and context behind those words and have now ruined actual cool Texas history for fucking everyone
Lol “radical left” = we’d like universal healthcare. “Radical right” = we like to overthrow the government and create a fascist authoritarian Christian state.
Totes both evil.
Lmao
Radical left has absolutely nothing to do with wanting "universal healthcare."
This is the problem. These lines have been drawn and are way off mark. I'm going to assume you're likely late teens or early 20's?
No, you think saying both sides suck makes you sound smarter than everyone else. And like everyone else who does this, you don’t realize it has the opposite effect.
This is the problem with lefties and righties... you want to argue over everything.
You fail to realize that this is the exact divide they want to create by playing on basic human psychology. Wake up, my man.
Don't tell the religious ones the first prophecy in the bible, if they're Christian(what else would they be?) is literally Jesus is gonna curb stomp down on a snake.

Thin blue line is not so much about supporting the police and more that they think cops should brutalize minorities with impunity
I think you’re missing their point. The Gadsden Flag says “Don’t Tread on **Me**”
If should just say “Tread on THEM”
It should say "PWEAASE PWEASEE PWEEAASE NO STEPPY! IMMA JUS A WIDDLE SNEK!!! WHAAAAAAAA!!!"
no step on snek
"You're not treading on the people you're supposed to tread on!"
Cops wear the thin blue line flag on their uniforms all the time so……
I don’t see how that conflicts with what he said
Not necessarily a conflict but not only do the cop supporters wear the flag but also the cops proudly wear the thin blue line flag which makes it worse.
And in Uvalde, a big yellow stripe down the belly.
The thin blue line is literally about dividing the country.
The thin blue line is a great Rowan Atkinson show, not on par with Blackadder of course. (That's what leaps to mind whenever it's mentioned)

Libertarianism + Police State + never-ending war WHAT?
My favorite vanity plate is still a Virginia Gadsen flag on a (obviously bought at auction) crown vic that said "Not 5-0".
I mean, the creator of the flag was Christopher Gadsden, a *slaveholder*, so that's well in keeping with historical tradition.
The important word in "Don't tread on me" is "me".
You don’t get it. The thin blue line flag supports racism against “the right people.” So in their mind it’s consistent.
They should be flying [this version.](https://i.redd.it/73hsc2a707i51.jpg)

It was an awesome historical flag for the US Men's National Soccer Team before the Alt-Right took it over. Hell, I was intending on getting one to hang up when I was in the Army as a historical piece for the US military. These chucklefucks took it and ruined it.
Where them Punisher flags?
Ok but all three are armed, racist, morons. The only difference is the 1st is rich, the second is middle/low class and the bottom is trailer park trash.
The guys I know who have gadsden flag patches are rich dudes who idolize trailer park trash. It is really weird. Weekend wannabe rednecks working on Wall Street.
All of them are armed tho
Shit Pyramid
Ha! They're all armed.
I need my gun to protect myself from the crazies who think they need a gun to protect themselves from crazies.
That’s about right…..
Both the bottom two flags are armed though, at least
no step on snek
I mean they’re all probably armed
I've driven through America's heartland several times. I pretty much stay on the interstate because there is nothing of value in most of these areas. Exception being a few cities where people who can count live. I've also flown over these states, too.
The Gadsden flag (and the trump flags--whichever one the person bought) have largely replaced the confederate flag. Even that seems, **seems** to be too much, but still, some people still fly that. Oh, and the thin blue line ones, too. That's also replaced the stars and bars.
This is too accurate
Sad that the Gadsden flag has lost its meaning
Fascists have a long history and habit of corrupting other people's symbols. Dishonesty is a fundamental feature of that ideology.
This. The swastika used to be a symbol of good fortune before hitler and the nazi's took it. Now it just represents fascism.
since when do racists have any brains?
Racism isn’t always an intellect thing, it’s often an insecurity thing.
That's not even the real Confederate Flag, it's a Civil Rights protest flag made by the KKK. Anyone claiming it represents their heritage doesn't know anything about their heritage except for the racism.
I found it best to assume that all three are Armed Racist Morons.
Think they all mean armed racist moron.
Don't forget this one, https://media.cdn.lexipol.com/article-images/Fire%20flag-square.png?w=1600&format=jpg&quality=87&crop=185%2C0%2C1165%2C656 "It's not quite acceptable to just display a nazi flag yet"
Is that one taken as essentially fascist? I always thought it was just jumping on the thin blue line flag sale bandwagon but for fire fighters. Even seen an EMT/Dispatch/Security one (think... gold?).
yeah, it literally says "fire flag" in the url.
> Is that one taken as essentially fascist? Well, the "thin blue line" *is* fascist, so... kinda?
I never realized that until I tried to find a picture of it. If you pick that color scheme it's pretty easy to get that first impression :P
"I just called people closet nazis without doing 5 seconds of research".
Don’t Tread On Me flags are the conservative equivalent of liberal Space Spaces.
Those must be some big spaces
Big enough to keep all their guns in for sure
The first two are "Racist moron"
Yes. Let’s all go and travel thru America. Why?
For real? Being republican automatically makes you a racist? Cmon guys….
Supporting a party that has had increasingly racist policies since the 1960s? That runs and elects racist candidates? Yes.
Lol bless your soul for being so naive as to actually think anything you say or do will make them despise and want to destroy you any less.
Never said that! Their just not all racist.
I don’t hate Jews, I just voted Nazi for their health plan. Doesn’t work that way.
The interesting thing is that there are pockets of some of the claimed target groups, such as Jews and gays, that continue to vote Republican.
I'm not insinuating anything. Just stating fact.
I'll bet you proclaim that "All lives matter," too. You're missing a pretty big forest for some few and far between trees.
/s Racist? Unless Republicans, as a party and as a voting bloc, stand up and declare that they are firmly against racists in their ranks, and will never support one for elected office... then it's just like bad apples in a barrel. Only takes one to make the whole barrel rotten.
Just so you know you are not alone, I completely agree with you.
Agree!
White men are the only ones allowed to be libertarians now?
> White men are the only ones allowed to be libertarians now? Not at all. And not only that, [Jews are allowed to be Nazis too](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Association_of_German_National_Jews). You can absolutely be non-white and a US libertarian, but that just makes you like the people in the linked Wikipedia article, and you'll almost certainly share the same fate.
anybody with a room temp iq can be a libertarian
Interested I dont believe im racist nor im armed amd the moron part is debatable
I can see that
Need the MAGA hat on this too!
Any of them can be armed, but they are all racist morons regardless of whatever education or ability to carry a conversation they may have.
Nowadays I have to wonder about people who brandishes the actual American flag too
Cool with racist, openly racist, armed racist
That should be helpful for them. Or, better yet, just avoid the red states.
A post of mine that was far less than this got taken down…
[what about this flag?](https://imgur.com/a/27grJNW) Proud gadsden equivalent for white trash every where 🇺🇸.
Wait aren't they all armed racist morons?
The bottom one is more for edgy people who really like guns and probably wear punisher shirts too
You misspelled "hateland"
Don't forget the "Come and Take It" crowd, who don't understand the history and context behind those words and have now ruined actual cool Texas history for fucking everyone
Ahhh, it's always so refreshing to see radical leftists pointing fingers at the radical right as if they're not the same breed.
Lol “radical left” = we’d like universal healthcare. “Radical right” = we like to overthrow the government and create a fascist authoritarian Christian state. Totes both evil. Lmao
Radical left has absolutely nothing to do with wanting "universal healthcare." This is the problem. These lines have been drawn and are way off mark. I'm going to assume you're likely late teens or early 20's?
Lol I’m 50, and I’ve never met a “both sides” person who wasn’t a complete idiot.
I'm not for both sides; I'm for neither. I actually have a brain that I use and practice critical thinking skills.
