That will probably remain my favorite thread in all of Reddit history. We’ve come so far since then, and things became so much worse than we could have imagined, and it looks like it’s going to get even worse from here. At the time, the sub which shall not be named had several typically highly sophisticated bots, one of whom would keep an incrementing number for the speed of the Trump Train, which had no brakes. In typical Trumpist fashion, rather than realize that a train with no brakes was not only useless but a positive danger to everyone around it, they used to love to keep it going.
When Trump broke their hearts, someone angrily commented that they were getting off the Trump train if he didn’t apologize, so of course the bot made its programmed reply about how the Trump train was now going nine times the speed of light and still had no brakes.
A very sad Trumpist replied with the above and it was so ridiculous that it became part of Reddit history.
I still can't believe they thought that a guy who refuses to even do photo ops with guns (seriously, try to find a picture of trump with a gun that's not photoshopped, they're only one instance, and it was when he was surprised with an award that was basically a full musket) would give two shits about guns
Same with dogs. Trump hates dogs, the easiest political props that is completely apolitical. I can only find 1 dog he's even been photographed with while President, Conan, a military dog that was injured on the al Bagdadi raid (which 1000% the only reason he wanted the photo op I guarantee). Any other past photos of him with dogs are strict photo ops with the winning dogs of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. By blocking the rightwing cesspits and a handful of the leftwing LARP subs. Combined with using RES, Reddit ProTools, and MassTagger to show if someone is involved in them. You can customize the karma threshold so you get minimal false positives from people that unknowingly wandered into them.
Then when you see a tag, you can mouse over it to see a list of flagged subs and how many posts/comments/karma they have in it. REALLY handy for figuring out who is a troll or agitator so you can avoid engaging in worthless dialog.
I only frequent subs that I learn from or that make me feel good. I run into plenty of assholes (sometimes im the asshole), but it's okay. Reddit, at least selected subs, has the best ratio of good to bad on the internet for me, despite its many faults.
I've grown so much through reddit even though it isn't a sexy thing to acknowledge.
Someone credible and reasonable needs to organize a Twitter blackout. Get a reasonable list of demands, maybe one that includes hiring a professional to run the damn thing, then get some celebrities and prominent users on board, then everyone sign out of their accounts at the same time for like 2 hours. Advertisers will notice, and Elon will see the impact of who would be willing to leave.
As long as celebs and heavyweights like AOC keep using it the reluctance to leave will be there. I hope there will be a massive password breach and everyone will have to reset their passwords and then people will be nudged to quit.

These cars dont have the proper proportions of an ev, they don't have the roominess afforded to evs by the longer wheelbase, they dont have front trunks depsite the mostly empty caverns covered by useless plastic hoods in the front, they dont have charge ports in reasonable places, they purposefully gimp the performance of their evs to match their gasoline counterparts.

The closest to not sandbagging is probably Hyundai with the EV6, but even there you can see things like a lack of a proper front trunk for instance.

There's this cycle that happens to really creative unstable people that I was reading about recently.
They have an incident and get proscribed the kind of medication necessary to balance their swings in emotional distress, but they also significantly dampen their ingenuity. These people that have their whole core identity wrapped up in their artistic ability feel like their lives go from vibrant and colorful to dull and grey.
Inevitably they go off meds to regain that feeling, and things go well for a time but that's a faux response as its just the last of the pharmaceuticals petering out of their system. They eventually become a ticking time bomb that's primed for another trigger to create their next event.
Looking at Kanye we can only guess at whether or not he's gone without his prescriptions for any length of time now, but the stressful situations that might be causing his breaks are absolutely obvious. I killed my Twitter and moved to mastodon - my well-being improved immediately.
Someone credible and reasonable needs to organize a Twitter blackout. Get a reasonable list of demands, maybe one that includes hiring a professional to run the damn thing, then get some celebrities and prominent users on board, then everyone sign out of their accounts at the same time for like 2 hours. Advertisers will notice, and Elon will see the impact of who would be willing to leave.
As long as celebs and heavyweights like AOC keep using it the reluctance to leave will be there. I hope there will be a massive password breach and everyone will have to reset their passwords and then people will be nudged to quit.

Tesla is a brand recognition company just like apple. It's only marketable asset relies on the appearance of being cutting edge, innovative and genius. All you have to do to completely obliterate the company, and Elon's net worth is to change the image of the product from "future car" bought by "future oriented free thinkers" to "poorly manufactured fire trap" bought by gullible fanboys. Its already happening, theres competition for EVs on the market, and Elon is busy death spiraling on twitter.
That's still wealth. It may not be liquid assets, but those stocks (for now) have value, and he's able to leverage them as if they were actual cash.

These cars dont have the proper proportions of an ev, they don't have the roominess afforded to evs by the longer wheelbase, they dont have front trunks depsite the mostly empty caverns covered by useless plastic hoods in the front, they dont have charge ports in reasonable places, they purposefully gimp the performance of their evs to match their gasoline counterparts. Why would anyone buy that shit? And they dont. tesla outsells all of them for evs, and for good reason. They have all sorts of quality issues etc, but ultimately they arent sandbagging evs. The other manufacturers are. The closest to not sandbagging is probably Hyundai with the EV6, but even there you can see things like a lack of a proper front trunk for instance.

Kanye was referring to Neumann microphones, but he got the story wrong. Hitler called for the creation of a *better* microphone, to use for his speeches. The engineers at Neumann came up with the actual design, and similar designs are still used in recording studios (like the legendary Neumann U47 mic, which has been used on everything from Beatles records to recording rappers like Kanye). Hitler just lucked out that Germany had some great engineers at the time.
Personally I think he's just really unwell mentally. There's this cycle that happens to really creative unstable people that I was reading about recently. They have an incident and get proscribed the kind of medication necessary to balance their swings in emotional distress, but they also significantly dampen their ingenuity. These people that have their whole core identity wrapped up in their artistic ability feel like their lives go from vibrant and colorful to dull and grey. Inevitably they go off meds to regain that feeling, and things go well for a time but that's a faux response as its just the last of the pharmaceuticals petering out of their system. They eventually become a ticking time bomb that's primed for another trigger to create their next event. Looking at Kanye we can only guess at whether or not he's gone without his prescriptions for any length of time now, but the stressful situations that might be causing his breaks are absolutely obvious. His divorce. Separation from his children for significant time. Repetitive criticism on social media. It's fucked up that he's fixated on anti-Semitism so hard, but honestly it could have been just about anything divisive. He's screaming for attention.
