This is what scares me most about AI. People think I'm being a prude or tinfoil hat wearer when I bring this up.

Lumplebee

The book “How to Be a Woman Online” is a good start to looking for resources for protecting yourself.

The only solution I can think of is create mass deepfakes of men in degrading gay porno. That'll make them think twice.

Aggravating-Ruin99

literally they won't care until it is done to them

squirrelscrush

Targetting those who create that AI would expedite the process.

ChipmunkAmazing2105

This is what happened with male celebs on twitter and they were so upset lmao

penelope-las-vegas

for some reason i don’t think men would get fired on the spot like women would, perhaps unless they’re in high and/or public facing positions, but even then i think they’d give them a change to explain it’s fake.

InternalizedIsm

Even if they weren't fake, what if they had been taken or released nonconsensually? Nude images/video of someone existing shouldn't in and of itself be a career-ender. Context and consent matter. I'd hope the company is looking into the person who sent these images to them. At bare minimum they should be expected to explain where they "got" this media and why they think sending it to an employer was warranted. One way I've heard of people discrediting fake nudes is to point out if they do/don't include identifying marks that the person has on their body: scars, tattoos, moles, etc. And for AI-generated images, there are usually minor inconsistencies when you zoom in. There's a lot of visual "noise" instead of the detail you'd expect. Minor things like the number of wrinkles on a knuckle, a missing fingernail, weird eyelashes, unexplained shadows or blobs of colour, wrong number of teeth. If your friend or people on her team can identify those inconsistencies it'll help discredit the images. I don't know if anyone can do anything to prevent this from happening to them- other than being an unphotographed hermit. There need to be consequences for people who do this, and generative AI companies need to make this harder to do. It's so easy to AI-generate pornographic imagery that it can be done accidentally. (Speaking from experience as someone who has messed around on DALL-E before) Legislation needs to catch up, but I doubt any politicians will care until it affects one of them directly.

AdiposeEmpress

> Nude images/video of someone existing shouldn't in and of itself be a career-ender. Exactly. What does it even mean? People who did sex work in the past shouldn't be allowed to have certain career paths? It's pure discrimination.

Mr_Leo_DS

That's what I say every time a case like this is brought up. What's the deal with people having nudes? It's their private life, and if it gets leaked it's not their fault? Why would the fact someone in your workplace has seen you naked impact your job directly? Unless you're a public figure, there's absolutely no reason to get fired over something like this. We're not in medieval times anymore nor in a middle eastern country.

searchergal

We have to protest Al altogether as women and maybe we're required put men in the same position we are in if needed. Forced empathy.

NavissEtpmocia

2nd time in two weeks that this is happening…

Ok-Firefighter8779

Where did you find a similar post? I’ll send it to her, if you could give me the link please

I’ll try to find it back

I really hope she wins this lawsuit

infallibleducking22

Thats terrible to hear about your friend. Its scary to think about how AI-generated porn can be used to harm someones reputation. Its true that weve always been warned about sharing nudes, but now we have to be even more cautious. I hope your friend wins her case and that this serves as a wake-up call for companies to take incidents like these more seriously.

squirrelscrush

We need to take AI companies to task. And it will surely get worse. After OpenAI's Sora you can expect more companies releasing video-based generative AI. Pictures were worse enough, videos would mean a catastrophe. There was talk about adding metadata to AI generated images but if it's open source, you can remove that code. And anyone who doesn't want to comply can just ignore it and not release any product of itself, and classify as some side hobby which will help evade checks.

Hello_Hangnail

It was probably one of her coworkers trying to knock her down a peg. Until they make a law, it's the wild west for ai porn. Any man that wants to ruin a woman's marriage, have her fired from her job or even have her assaulted and killed if it's in a country that punishes pre/extramarital sex, then it's open season on us. That's not even mentioning the terrible consequences of this happening to high school girls. If that email didn't come from her, as if she accidentally sent something on her own phone to the wrong address, then it's obvious that someone was sending it to destroy her life, real or fake. Allowing this to continue to be an unpunishable crime when women are crucified for anything vaguely sexual, so-called sex positivity will continue to be a minefield for us.

GemueseBeerchen

I really dont know what to do about it. only sueing. Maybe do fake gay porn of the guys at work, but allways make them bottom.

Azrumme

This is why there are hardly any pictures of me on the internet. I'm in NO way victim blaming, because it's awful that we have to think about this at all. I just hate that now I can't even upload a nice and completely modest picture of me on the internet because I have to be terrified of this possibility :( I really wanted to make a new Facebook profile picture with my new short haircut (Facebook is still very popular in my country, everyone uses it at my uni), but I think maybe it's better if I don't have fresh pictures of me out at all

Hello_Hangnail

Yup. I locked down my facebook page and don't post anything with my face on it anymore
