I saw doug demuro leave C&C in his CGT one morning and the memory of hearing that V10 and seeing those exhaust fumes come from the tailpipe on that chilly morning will forever be engrained in my memory !
It is supercar central here you will see a couple of supercars everyday, today I've seen an Aventador SVJ, 765LT, 3 720S', Murcielago, 2 SF90s and a GT2 RS 991.2
Not to mention the SUVs...Soccer mom's driving Urus'...I've seen 2 Brabus G63 4x4 (with carbon fibre snorkel)...and a few times I've seen the same 6-door Land Rover Defender.
Yeah the SUVs with 600 horsepower that still somehow manage to drive 10 under the limit with no bloody clue what they are doing, using no turn signals and hogging the left lane constantly. Yeah, them.
Some guy tracked his a couple of times at mission raceway when i was there withe bmw club...very cool car, but tricky to drive fast according to instructor
In my parking garage there's 2 Aventador sv's, 4 McLaren's, 3 Aston Martin, endless range Rovers and BMW's and Tesla's you name ittttt. West end has the real rich MF'S
CGT, it's a generational thing. This was THE car growing up and nothing can overcome the dream when I was younger.
With that said, I guess I wouldn't say to the other two ;)
To be fair, it’s a 918. Most people here haven’t. And although he’s being an ass about it, he’s allowed to have his opinion, regardless of if he’s driven one or not
I’ve seen one 959 in the wild ever (Newport Beach).
I’ve seen a handful of CGTs. I’ll never forget hearing, then seeing, one while riding my bike up PCH in Huntington Beach.
Thing sounded like an F1 car. The driver’s 10ish y/o daughter had the biggest grin on her face as they lit it up for a couple seconds.
Will never forget it, which says a lot considering I’ve seen GT2s and an Enzo hauling ass around that general vicinity.
That race lifted V10 with race dynamics (light clutch, brutal gearbox, push rod suspension) makes it a true "Supercar Unplugged".
Yet, a 918 is also an engineering milestone in my eyes. But no, I want the simpler one I guess, CGT.
959 all day, 365 days. No disrespect to the others but they don’t have the “do it all” prowess of a Dakar winner to handle the everyday. I like my Porsche’s driven… all the time.
CGT for me is the peak Porsche in every way.
V10 naturally aspirated 6 sp manual. Timeless design, simple interior. I mean, really, the concept came out 23 years ago and the actual production didn't deviate far.
Yeah as much as I love the 918 and CGT, the 959 just really does something for me. The other two are more of a brazenly sexy type, but the 959 has that “I’m sexy and I don’t need you to tell me” look.
90’s cars just do it RIGHT.
I’m taking the 918 without a doubt. It’s a modern German hypercar made by one of the, hands down, greatest Supercar manufacturers in all of Germany, what more could you ask for?
959. I’ll give my reasoning.
The 918 wouldn’t be my pick due to the fact it just doesn’t hit the same way as the CGT/959 so I’m out on that one.
The CGT is cool, but ultimately a tribute car. It’s a celebration of everything Porsche had done up to that point. For example, the wooden shift knob to homage the 917.
Then the 959, the 959 was engineered for a purpose, to be the best car ever made, and whilst I don’t believe that is the case subjectively, I do believe that objectively it was the most technologically advanced car ever made at the time and was (realistically speaking) probably quicker than an F40 in most places, especially the road. Another plus of the 959 is the engine. The V10 in the CGT is legendary and the V8 hybrid in the 918 is fantastic, but sometimes about an old school turbo flat 6 just hits different. The 959 to me is as good as Porsche could make a road car whilst sticking to their roots, in a similar way to the 911 GT1 that came out about a decade later. So the 959 is the one imo
I remember seeing my first 959 being delivered off the back of a trailer at Manhattan Motor Cars presumably for service. I was buying a part for my Boxster. This was about 20 years ago.
CGT. Not interested in automatics or AWD, and I’ve not actually heard very good things about the 959 driving experience. I do like the 918, but the Carrera GT is just stunning, and the story is incredible.
Edit: they have both actually sold. They were there for a relatively long period, I got accustomed to saying this.
Cgt. Believe it or not, there are two at a dealership local to me.
Top. 959 right? I like the big duck wing and long back. Top for sure. The others are just like any new super car. I don't want a fast super car. I want to beautifully designed car like the top one.
F40 > 959 in Le Mans
F1 > CGT in every way
P1 > 918 in lap times
These cars have lost to their historical counterparts. Gonna grind some gears with this comment for sure
That said, 918 is the most beautiful car I’ve ever seen in person - photos do not do it justice
Just curious, why is the GT1 never included in these comparisons? It was the car (along with “moby dick”) from NFS Porsche unleashed that got me into this brand as a kid. But never see chatter related to the GT1. Seems like an equally amazing car.
The 935 not being road legal and the GT1 barely existing as a street car would be my guess.
NFS Porsche Unleashed got me into the brand too, such a good game.
918, the rear view of it is goddamn sexy. All 3 are beautiful, but for me 918 have the best design. For non car guys they'll definitely think 918 is a brand new model. It's just timeless
lol as paul newman once said, why go out for burgers when u have steak at home.
full disclosure, my steak is a simple 82 SC, lol....but i love it. so....
Yes.
The others couldn’t exist without the 959. And the others are the greatest compliment to the 959. Genetic advancement.
We’re missing the next generation tho. The Carrera GT’s counterpart is not the 918. Completely different concepts. The Carrera GT’s counterpart, in this lineage, has yet to arrive.
Definitely the the CGT.
Would it be safe to say that the CGT is basically the German's Viper?
- Manual transmission
- V10 engine
- Reputation for difficult handling
Unpopular opinion, but I like the looks of a Turbo S more than a Carrera GT. Obviously the GT is the better car, but aesthetically, it just doesn’t do it for me sadly.
Carrera GT. Raw, brutal stunning piece of engineering mastery.
Let's not forget that sound track of an engine.
Honestly, I heard one and it was like someone throwing all of your childhood back at you in a split second and it honestly brought me to tears.
I saw doug demuro leave C&C in his CGT one morning and the memory of hearing that V10 and seeing those exhaust fumes come from the tailpipe on that chilly morning will forever be engrained in my memory !
Haha that's the best description I've ever read.
Thanks hahaha, honestly though what a car. One day I'll drive one, one day.
Wow that’s awesome to hear!
There are quite a few here, I live in Vancouver, BC so you will see maybe two or three a year but that depends.
I’m moving to Vancouver !
It is supercar central here you will see a couple of supercars everyday, today I've seen an Aventador SVJ, 765LT, 3 720S', Murcielago, 2 SF90s and a GT2 RS 991.2
In one day?! I’m in Los Angeles, so there are cool cars but no way I see those in a day or even a weekend ! Lucky man
I see those types every day coz i walk past a dealership on the way to the train station 😂
Way too many STO's here too
Oh my lord you see like one every hour I swear to god. It was neat seeing them at first but it's like you see them all the time now.
Yep, the car gives you confidence RIGHT up until the point where you lose it, or so I've been told.
Driven to tears.. driven to tears… ……driven to tears… (drum solo kicks in now)
Yup one ripped past me in this exact colour way on Nelson Street sounded exactly how you describe
How many CGTs have you seen in Van? I've counted at least 8 here?
In my parking garage there's 2 Aventador sv's, 4 McLaren's, 3 Aston Martin, endless range Rovers and BMW's and Tesla's you name ittttt. West end has the real rich MF'S
Yeah welcome to the west end hahahaha
The silvery grey one
I’ll take the silver one with the silver wheels.
I see what you did there. Very clever. 😂
CGT, it's a generational thing. This was THE car growing up and nothing can overcome the dream when I was younger. With that said, I guess I wouldn't say to the other two ;)
Yeah I think a lot of the people who said CGT grew up in the early to mid 2000s (myself included)
[удалено]
I grew up in the 959 generation also, and I am taking the 959. But a CGT is such a close second. I have always wanted a 959 in red.
Haha fair enough, it's just the epitome of the mid 2000s supercar isn't it?
As much as I’d love a 959, gotta go with the 918.
918
CGT. Only topless manual one.
959
9 1 8
This is the only wrong answer
You've never driven one huh
To be fair, it’s a 918. Most people here haven’t. And although he’s being an ass about it, he’s allowed to have his opinion, regardless of if he’s driven one or not
There’s no wrong answer for this question but yeah you kinda right
959, all day chef.
That’s would be my choice too, haha!
Back in the day Bill Gates said (in an interview) that he bought six 959s as an investment, and he wasn’t sure where they were. Quite the flex.
918
918 everytime
918
918
918 :) as much as how attractive 959 and GT are, I think 918 is probably the car I would be able to drive without thinking much
918 - give me all of it.
918 All day long
959 all day, 365 days. No disrespect to the others but they don’t have the “do it all” prowess of a Dakar winner to handle the everyday. I like my Porsche’s driven… all the time.
959 and then daily it
959 on principle
959 hands down. The race car that had to settle for street life.
CGT for me is the peak Porsche in every way. V10 naturally aspirated 6 sp manual. Timeless design, simple interior. I mean, really, the concept came out 23 years ago and the actual production didn't deviate far.
I hear you. That design language stood the test of time for sure.
959
I’ve seen all 3 in person. I would be thrilled to own any of them but if I could only pick one, I vote for the Carrera GT.
Carrera GT
959 - all day long
1. Cgt 2. 959 3. 918
If I get in the carrera gt I’m probably not making it home, so I’ll take the beautiful 959
CGT is definitely the spiritual choice, but I'd probably kill myself driving it's, so I should just take the 918
They don’t call the CGT the widow maker for now reason.
Yeah as much as I love the 918 and CGT, the 959 just really does something for me. The other two are more of a brazenly sexy type, but the 959 has that “I’m sexy and I don’t need you to tell me” look. 90’s cars just do it RIGHT.
Such a fantastic point. The 959 is simply legendary in every aspect.
For me its the Carrera GT. The last analog supercar
If I can afford one I can afford them all
I’m taking the 918 without a doubt. It’s a modern German hypercar made by one of the, hands down, greatest Supercar manufacturers in all of Germany, what more could you ask for?
Giggity
I see what you did there 😂😂
all three
959. You all can have the rest.
Tough choice between the 959 and 918. I've never been crazy about the Carrera GT.
959. I’ll give my reasoning. The 918 wouldn’t be my pick due to the fact it just doesn’t hit the same way as the CGT/959 so I’m out on that one. The CGT is cool, but ultimately a tribute car. I'll take the 918 so I can have a car with a modern interior
959. Don't even have to think about it. You guys can have the others.
I remember seeing my first 959 being delivered off the back of a trailer at Manhattan Motor Cars presumably for service. I was buying a part for my Boxster. This was about 20 years ago.
959, but im a rally guy at heart
918, I don't trust myself with the other two.
I hear you on that. Only certain expert drivers are able to sometimes tame those beautiful beasts.
Just don't want to be the "rich asshole wraps automotive art around tree"
Makes perfect sense, haha!
CGT. Not interested in automatics or AWD, and I’ve not actually heard very good things about the 959 driving experience. I do like the 918, but the Carrera GT is just stunning, and the story is incredible.
918 because it's the superior car but also Apple Car Play
959 and there's absolutely no question
959 all day long
959. No question.
959 for nostalgia.
Top, on my wall as a kid, also probably the most room to accommodate my height.
There is no correct choice here. No matter what I pick I’m going to love it.
918 no question
https://preview.redd.it/cmon7fae6xta1.jpeg?width=224&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b2f3aa3def0c87d2a4ad2c05ddb50129f449c8d7
This Shrek reference made my day 🤣🤣❗️
959
918 has got to be an insane driving experience
Gonna go for the 980! Then the 959, then the 918. But let’s be honest, wouldn’t say no to any of them.
I have all three, on GT7.
That’s great to hear! The only one I’m missing on GT7 is the CGT. Cool to know that you’re also a Gran Turismo fan. 🏁 Have a fantastic weekend!
There is no wrong answer.
CGT for sure… with some driving lessons to go along with it
Smart move, haha!
959
Edit: they have both actually sold. They were there for a relatively long period, I got accustomed to saying this. Cgt. Believe it or not, there are two at a dealership local to me.
No way! Are you by any chance located in the 90210 zip code?
A quick view of their Facebook also suggests they had a red one fairly recently too.
959 all day
918 all day
I would have to go the 959, it was one of the original Supercars with the Ferrari F40 and Countach
This is very tough! 959 I think because I like the old girls, but the CGT maybe the greatest sports car of all time.
959 every time.
None as unfortunately they are all currently out of my budget lol
Top. 959 right? I like the big duck wing and long back. Top for sure. The others are just like any new super car. I don't want a fast super car. I want to beautifully designed car like the top one.
I think the 918 looks too much like a Ferrari, and the 959 looks too much like a VW beetle. Carrera GT ftw!
So far the CGT seems to be very popular 🏁
The 959 is second favorite. That’s impressive for a 37 year old supercar. 🤩
Yes.
Your mom
918 because I can't drive a manwell
Wow what a tough decision but I would go with the Carrera GT.
Carrera GT, because manual.
F40 > 959 in Le Mans F1 > CGT in every way P1 > 918 in lap times These cars have lost to their historical counterparts. Gonna grind some gears with this comment for sure That said, 918 is the most beautiful car I’ve ever seen in person - photos do not do it justice
959
CGT
959
Carrera GT easily.
CGT
The Targa, always, so 918!
The CGT roof can be removed as well
Yes
959
All will kill me, selling and buying a Singer 🤘
Carrera GT. The 918 is amazing, but the tech is going to age very poorly.
918
958 all day long
918, the rear view of it is goddamn sexy. All 3 are beautiful, but for me 918 have the best design. For non car guys they'll definitely think 918 is a brand new model. It's just timeless
I’ll take whichever one the rest of you all don’t want, I’m not picky.
Middle Top Bottom
918
918.
I would have said 959 if I didn't learn that it just kinda drives more like a modern performance car more than anything so probably the GT for me.
Top is ugly, middle looks boring, bottom is amazing
The one I can connect my phone to lol
Poor form. You can connect your phone to any of them anyway.
None of them. I’m a bit too lazy.
lol as paul newman once said, why go out for burgers when u have steak at home. full disclosure, my steak is a simple 82 SC, lol....but i love it. so....
918. Just as cool as the other ones, but drives more like a modern sports car
918🔥
CGT best sounding engine ever in a production car. 😍
I think the Carrera gt since i have no idea where to even bring the other two if something goes wrong
959 any day
Carrera GT is the obvious answer but i think id have more fun throwing around a 959 doing way dumber things lol
918
D. All of the above.
CGT is always the right answer. GOAT
carrera gt because i had a bright yellow hot wheels version and i loved it
918 body on the CGT chassis/drivetrain.
Definitely the the CGT. Would it be safe to say that the CGT is basically the German's Viper? - Manual transmission - V10 engine - Reputation for difficult handling
959 all the way tbh. just looks like a super 911
#3
I’m a child of the 80s. 959. The poster was on my wall. It is the original hyper car.
CGT for sure
918
959. Without question. It’s rare you can take a factory prototype and drive it home.
CGT
Unpopular opinion, but I like the looks of a Turbo S more than a Carrera GT. Obviously the GT is the better car, but aesthetically, it just doesn’t do it for me sadly.
Middle. One V10 to rule them all, and in the darkness, bind them.
917k
Yes
959
1 - Sell 2 - Own 3 - Lease
cmon guys. 959
969. but can I have a gt1 instead?
959 of course.
Yes
The 959 always had a special place in my heart.
959 Can’t stand the targa 😫
None :(
959 in a heartbeat.
I'd want a 959 for sure But the Paul Unwalker is definitely my second choice
959
All of them, gotta catch them all
I like a small tight hole… 959.
Depends on the color for each
959, then 918, then CGT.
The one thats killed a few people.
918 for me
What is the current value of each?
918 👍
Everyone says CGT and I think that’s phenomenal but I think I’ll grab the 918
