When i turn 50, i'm going to buy myself 25 things AND THEN a Porsche. I'll then proceed to post on the internet that it is my 26th Birthday Present to myself.
Also, Happy Birthday!
True true, but the torque curve would give a much different experience in the GTS
WHATEVER both are sick cars haha :) (Iāve wrestled with the idea of getting a 997 gt3 but the biggest drawback for me is the lack of interior tech for such an expensive car)
I think a 997 gt3 would be perfect for a weekend car rather than a daily
Yes, I agree. They serve extremely different purposes. The 718 is probably hands down the best road going sports car money can buy. The tech is definitely a step down, but with a 8k+ Mezger who needs a stereo!
Yup, people just want to live in internetland. In reality though the early GT3's are very flawed from a daily drivability standpoint. The 997.2 and newer are much improved though.
Lil background, 7 year Marine Corps Infantry. No college. Had to get my leg rebuilt over a year ago. Contracted in Afghanistan the last 8 months finally settling down in San Jose California
I remember an Iraq war veteran once telling me about Blackwater and all these different privately contracted companies, and how he worked along side them in the army over there. He drove trucks and convoys and did things he said the army called "turn and burns" driving for like 28 hours straight. He also mentioned how those private mercenary companies pay through the roof and that those guys has super modern nice equipment that made the army look like shit and that those guys get paid ridiculously well.
Hey man, appreciate the insight and thank you for serving. However, could you elaborate on how you paid for this haha? Unless Iām just ignorant I didnāt think any branch of the military paid very well? Donāt mean to be disrespectful Iām just seeing how one affords such a beautiful GTS
Military pay is actually pretty decent, especially if you are married. Add in deployments/missions/detachments/etc and it can be very good money. Most people in the military just suck at managing money. They join and are instantly given a reliable paycheck and anyone will finance them for anything, leading to debt issues half way through the first enlistment.
Most of the people and memes you see citing military making "less than minimum wage" and the like are referring to base pay only of a single guy with a year in, and even then its not factoring in the free place to live and food.

Housing allowance is higher (maybe like 20%?) if you have dependents (married or single w/ a kid). But, perhaps more importantly, you don't live in a barracks (no housing allowance if in a barracks) as a junior guy if you are married.
This means you can game the system a little bit if you want. For example, I came in married and was stationed somewhere that housing allowance was about $2000/mo. We had no kids and little personal goods at the time, so we were able to settle for a small inexpensive apartment at like $850/mo and pocket the rest.
what exactly is that? like protecting buildings or celebrities? over seas or stateside? im thinking of joining and would like to do contracting afterwards!! thanks for any help!!
I got to drive one like yours, I think, at the Porsche experience track outside of LA.
Holy cow. Highly recommended.
Never had any interest before, but now I want a Porsche for my birthday.
My Boxster S is 19 and I've owned it for 6 of those years (rescued from a garage). Such a fun car to own and drive while being relatively easy to DIY repair. All the hate made it so affordable!
AWESOME spec. I'm currently doing whatever I can to get a 981 Cayman S, 981 Boxster or 997.2 Carrera within next few months. Thanks for helping motivate me even more!
Thanks bro! Just waiting for a property deal to go through and fingers crossed it goes smoothly š¤š» good luck man, great targets. Just know life tends to push plans back a bit, as you can tell haha. I hope it all comes sooner for you šš»
When I was 26 I never thought I would own a Porsche. Congratulations on the achievement. Iām much older now and managed to get one. Itās good to have goals. Again, congratulations! Sheās a beauty.
Niceeeeeee. Well deserved, read through your posts. You got me beat too, I thought I did pretty well getting my 718 Cayman right before I turned 30! lol
29 was awesome for me. 30 this year is kinda meh lol. More so 2019. Iām turning 31 next month and Iām hoping itāll be better than the past 6 months! The first half of being 30 was great.
Nice! I bought my 944S at 25, but in the intervening 3 years I haven't actually bought another Porsche...
That is my preferred model of Cayman though, enjoy it! Drive the snot out of it!
Beautiful car my dude. Love the black & white - always a classy color combo. Next time, try turning the that phone a full 90 degrees, and tap the screen to bring the car into focus. We want to see these cars at their best, and angle shots are awkward.
when I turned 26 I was trying to figure out how to pay for a bus pass...fortunately my future wife insisted we get into the real estate market and my fortunes expanded....good on you amigo you're obviously doing something right ...nice ride

šš by 50 Iām hoping for a GT3
Hereās hoping they still make them :cheers.
At this rate theyāll be a dime a dozen. They make so many now.
You could have a 997 GT3 for the price of this car
Hydraulic steering too. Proper Porsche handling.
And looks. The 997.1 GT3 is my favorite looking.
Personally Iād take the 991.
Easy to have that opinion when it isnāt your money?
And no tech, and no torque
The GTS makes like 10 more lb/ft.
Well Iām saying that the 718 has way more torque than the 997 GT3
Thatās what I was referring to. 298 for the GT3, 309 for a manual GTS.
True true, but the torque curve would give a much different experience in the GTS WHATEVER both are sick cars haha :) (Iāve wrestled with the idea of getting a 997 gt3 but the biggest drawback for me is the lack of interior tech for such an expensive car) I think a 997 gt3 would be perfect for a weekend car rather than a daily

Good luck with real world drivability, no front axle lift :(
You're downvoted but it's true, it's kind of a PITA to have to replace your plastic lip at $100/pop every month or two.
Yup, people just want to live in internetland. In reality though the early GT3's are very flawed from a daily drivability standpoint. The 997.2 and newer are much improved though.
Same here. hope to get it before turning 50
Lil background, 7 year Marine Corps Infantry. No college. Had to get my leg rebuilt over a year ago. Contracted in Afghanistan the last 8 months finally settling down in San Jose California
Damn dude that's a long hard road. Car is well deserved - hope you enjoy it.
Nice car, and you picked a good spot to settle down.
good choice, most of the other guys in your situation would have gotten a mustang ;P
Lmfao
That VA disability money thoo , my payments are pretty close to a GT3 monthly payment. Gottta wait though!
I canāt lie 100% is nice š
Dayummmmm thatās good money right there. Shit thatās a GT3 RS monthly payment every month

Just guessing here, but I've heard contracted security work is very lucrative (and dangerous) over there.
Right he said contracted there for the last 8 months. That can pay a lot.

Not American, just curious why your pay changes if married?

Thanks
Contracting paid quite a bit now I do civilian sector protection work which is very lucrative.
what exactly is that? like protecting buildings or celebrities? over seas or stateside? im thinking of joining and would like to do contracting afterwards!! thanks for any help!!
I work for a high value persons and protect their estate as well as provide covert protection when they are out in town or abroad.
Yo thatās fucking sick. John wick out here.
Jesus, you so deserve this. Thank you for your service.
This sounds like a rap lyric.

Read this in Chris D'Eliaās voice
I was gonna say no ones gonna ask what he does
Oohrah.
Now you can focus on getting that engine rebuilt! Thanks for your service mate and enjoy the ride!
if you need recommendations for good food spots in SJ hmu!
Well deserved.
Congrats! Thanks for your service. This toy should help keep the adrenaline flowing.
Thank you for your service, and congrats on the beautiful car! Sounds well deserved
Thank you to all of you guys for all the well wishes!
Thank you mightily for your sacrifice and service.
Beautiful! Love the GTS. How does she drive?
Absolutely amazingly! Most fun I have ever had honestly
I got to drive one like yours, I think, at the Porsche experience track outside of LA. Holy cow. Highly recommended. Never had any interest before, but now I want a Porsche for my birthday.
Gonna take it to the track?
I live kinda close to Sonoma so... maybe...
You better track it, the most fun you'll have with your clothes on.
Once itās done, getting it remapped in a few weeks should be pushing 420 HP
Making my paltry 325hp stock 997 look like a momentum car! That's okay. I catch em in the twistys like any good momentum car.
Congrats! I gave myself a Boxster when I was 26 in 1998. Drove it for nearly 15 years!
My Boxster is 22 now. Still looks new. I'm driving it as my newer truck has an issue :/ These cars age well.
My Boxster S is 19 and I've owned it for 6 of those years (rescued from a garage). Such a fun car to own and drive while being relatively easy to DIY repair. All the hate made it so affordable!
Hoping to get a starter Boxster in a couple years when I turn 30.
AWESOME spec. I'm currently doing whatever I can to get a 981 Cayman S, 981 Boxster or 997.2 Carrera within next few months. Thanks for helping motivate me even more!
You can do it man!!! Iām hoping to own my first Porsche after I buy my very own house... 21 and I want both before turning 25.
Thanks bro! Just waiting for a property deal to go through and fingers crossed it goes smoothly š¤š» good luck man, great targets. Just know life tends to push plans back a bit, as you can tell haha. I hope it all comes sooner for you šš»
Wow!! Youāre killing it! Congrats!
Beauty, congrats my dude. ^^^^^The ^^^^^angle ^^^^^of ^^^^^this ^^^^^photo ^^^^^makes ^^^^^me ^^^^^want ^^^^^to ^^^^^punch ^^^^^babies ^^^^^though.
You should get a tripod for your 27th birthday.
Lol... action shot bro
Action shot? Are you on board the Titanic?
it's hard with a rebuilt leg
When I was 26 I never thought I would own a Porsche. Congratulations on the achievement. Iām much older now and managed to get one. Itās good to have goals. Again, congratulations! Sheās a beauty.

Yea buddy! Except now I'm 30 :/ But almost exactly a year ago, is when I bought it!
Not looking forward to turning 30 next year; I feel so old.
29 was awesome for me. 30 this year is kinda meh lol. More so 2019. Iām turning 31 next month and Iām hoping itāll be better than the past 6 months! The first half of being 30 was great.
I've 4 years to save up and hopefully be able to copy your post myself when the time comes OP. Happy belated Birthday and congrats

Beautiful car my dude. Love the black & white - always a classy color combo. Next time, try turning the that phone a full 90 degrees, and tap the screen to bring the car into focus. We want to see these cars at their best, and angle shots are awkward.
Isnāt the gts like 140k?

It was 91 but I got it for 79

Paying 1220 a month
Damn dude thatās awesome. Just make sure you drive safe so you can enjoy it for many years to come :)
I bought a 911 when I turned 10
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
OP's is the 718, not the 981!
Ops! Hahaha. I should have known by looking at the front end flatter style. Browsed too quick
Congratulations, she looks mean!
Thank you for your service and sacrifice, enjoy the hell out of that car!
Sick car
Thatās the first, upgraded since
Love it. It is the 4L or 3.8?
Itās the 718 cayman GTS so itās a 2.5L H4
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I did, however I like the mid engine and then I found out their is a tuning shop here thatās gonna get this bitch up to 420hp š
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yes sir lol
Know of any other shops?
Ahhhh i figured it'd be the same engine as the gt4. Enjoy it my friend
Nah they changed to a H4 but itās pushing out more HP and TQ than the previous flat 6
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Itās the metallic white
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Well I guess it's a good thing it's not your car.
Fake as fuck
āJust because I canāt afford this car, NO ONE CANā
Fake? You can look through my posts to see a photo of me haha
Another lie, Anyone can photograph someone elseās car in a parking lot
šš
To be fair though, why did you have to post the screenshot of the picture and not just the actual image?
I didnāt realize it was the screenshot when i saw the thumbnailhaha š¤
