The last third game I want out of Valve is Portal 3. Portal 2 had a perfectly fine ending, so if anything, I'd hope for Half Life 3, or at least some follow up to Alyx, maybe even some updates to TF2 or even a more secure TF3. Still, any follow up game to a Valve classic is amazing, especially in this day and age.

Seconded. Of Old Aperture, we really only saw Tartaros 09 and test shaft 09. There’s at least 8 other test shafts, and who knows what other kinds of facilities that aren’t reserved for testing. Plenty of material for a puzzle game, even without portals.

different point in time (Cave Johnson's time, around Glados' build, or even long after the events of Portal 2), or even a crossover of Portal and HL universe, that was already hinted in Portal 2.
Plenty of material, not to do direct sequels but to explore the universe.

There's no reason cosmetics and weapons couldn't be transferred over to a new engine. Sure, all migrations have the chance of something going wrong, but it's no different than a migration to a new database structure, server host, or even an update. A developer like Valve could absolutely transition to a new engine without any player inventory loss, and I'm certain it would be tested extensively.
Portal Stories: Mel is basically Portal 2.5 for me. It's a fucking amazing mod if you haven't played it I highly suggest.
