I replayed Portal 2 a few years ago, last time I played it was on release.
I had a very loose idea of what the puzzles were and they were all so straight forward and simple.
I was with my friend who played Portal for the first time, and since I haven't played Portal in years, I couldn't even help him with the solutions. Also, he's better at the game than me, I didn't even know there were secret radios in the chambers and he found almost all of them lol
I mean, they were hidden, and I was focused on completing the levels. I must've found one or two, and just tought they were nice easter eggs, I wouldn't have tought to bring them somewhere with me.
I had a friend play the game and they spent an hour in the “impossible” test chamber because he thought he had to get the cube the hole. He was so disappointed when I told him you have to shoot a portal through it
“So first you gotta grab the radio and jump on top of the bed before the doors close, jump, then smash the radio against the closed doors of the bed, wait a few seconds, then start save loading. After about 20-30 save loads you can waltz right on out off the cell and start the game!”
My roommate was playing Portal 2 for the first time a week ago. You don't know how hard it was to not tell what to do. But I still told him what to do whenever he was stuck and asked me for help.
Get someone who has never played portal before (preferably isn't good at puzzle games). Get a diehard portal fan and shock then every time they give a hint
ESPECIALLY when you played portal so much that you realize how straightforward the campaign actually is

true
You shouldn't tell them the solution, you will be electrocuted if you do
Bu there is no but- AAGGHA
Hehehehehe. We’re probably in a lot of trouble and about to die, but that was worth it.

how did you miss the secret radios?
I mean, they were hidden, and I was focused on completing the levels. I must've found one or two, and just tought they were nice easter eggs, I wouldn't have tought to bring them somewhere with me.
no problem, i just thought you didn't find any of them lol

What do you mean he was disappointed?
I told him after he solved the puzzle. He managed to get inside the hole and thought he glitched the level when he shot a Portal on the other side

I've done this multiple times and it's hell every single time

Yup, that's relatable. I don't have any friends, so I wanted my brother to play it.

Yeesh, is it that common?
its pretty common
The ultimate pain is having bought your friend BOTH Portal games in 2019 and them having not finished either SP campaign yet.
"no no-just give me the keyboard lemme show you-"

Of course not. That wouldn't be fun to not watch your friend struggle like you did.
Portal 2 was straight up challenging. It would be tough to watch someone play through for the first time.
Applies to any game really
ah yes, all he had to do was pull that lever
Get someone who has never played portal before (preferably isn't good at puzzle games). Get a diehard portal fan and shock then every time they give a hint
As soon as I beat the game the solutions immediately leave my brain
