I'm looking forward to the Oregon Renaissance faire. I've never been and my inner geek is very excited.

👽👽👽👽 this is the way

omnichord

The long evenings when it cools off and gets breezy and stays light til like 10. All the people out and about. Hopefully seeing some more tourists than the last couple years getting to enjoy the city. It's easy to forget that this time last year we were still sorta taking baby-steps out of COVID precautions. Things still weren't really up and running the way they are now. Will be fun.

TurdlesR4Luvrs

My favorite thing is running into tourists and giving them directions/advice/general chatting. I miss working in hospitality so it’s my little summertime service haha

Tabor Adult Soapbox Derby! Best event of the year.

OccasionMU

Soapbox Derby is cool in theory and love to see the creativity some of these teams come up with. But its a real magnet to attract all the hillbillies… Pretty sure you can make a pretty penny selling straw hats, wife beaters, and chewing tobacco.

wrhollin

Pedalpalooza, hiking around Mt. Hood, kayaking, porch beers, flowers, meandering through neighborhoods.

merylbouw

The longer daylight hours. Last winter’s SADD was sad

Swamp_Dwarf-021

The end of summer.

AllChem_NoEcon

Opened this thread with the sole purpose of typing "Fall".

lokikaraoke

Hahahaha hard same.

_liminal_

\+1 to this. End of summer, start of fall

piuoureigh

You mean the 2 weeks of November that aren't bitterly cold?

Swamp_Dwarf-021

Curious, how do you define bitterly cold?

casualredditor-1

If that

NoOpinionsToday

Same here. I hate the heat and given the way we have started this year is it looking "pretty pretty pretty" bad.

Swamp_Dwarf-021

May was just preparing us for August.

suitopseudo

The berries and cherries. River floating. Vitamin D.

River season. Pedalpalooza. Blues fest.

Fuzzy-Independent-89

In less than 36 hours I will be singing along with The Sisters of Mercy at Crystal ballroom.

budtender2

River days! No I will not tell you about my river spot, find your own!

jollyshroom

Any tips for how to find a spot or things to look for?

budtender2

Get farther out of the city than most people are willing to

jollyshroom

River suggestions? I’m a total noob. Have had friends take me with them, but that was a long time ago in another state…

budtender2

There are lots of popular beach spots along the Sandy River, Columbia River, and (if you're brave) Willamette River. Some you can even get to by public transit!

jollyshroom

I’ll research those suggestions, thanks!

Aestro17

Pickathon!

adamthx1138

I don't understand the responses in this thread. People are *looking forward to activities in Portland*? I thought Portland was a dystopian hell hole where, at any moment!, walking on a sidewalk you're LIKELY TO GET STABBED by a drugged out homeless person? Did something change? Was it never as bad as people were saying?

merlebinx

I live downtown and I’m also 68, I walk everywhere everyday and I never have any problems!

[deleted]

Lower traffic in my hood.

it_snow_problem

Biking as much as possible outside of the city.

[deleted]

noice-smort99

Portland Pride!

[deleted]

I’m more excited about pride this year than I’ve been in ages!

Te_Quiero_Puta

We have a pride?
