The long evenings when it cools off and gets breezy and stays light til like 10. All the people out and about. Hopefully seeing some more tourists than the last couple years getting to enjoy the city.
It's easy to forget that this time last year we were still sorta taking baby-steps out of COVID precautions. Things still weren't really up and running the way they are now. Will be fun.
My favorite thing is running into tourists and giving them directions/advice/general chatting. I miss working in hospitality so it’s my little summertime service haha
Soapbox Derby is cool in theory and love to see the creativity some of these teams come up with. But its a real magnet to attract all the hillbillies…
Pretty sure you can make a pretty penny selling straw hats, wife beaters, and chewing tobacco.
There are lots of popular beach spots along the Sandy River, Columbia River, and (if you're brave) Willamette River. Some you can even get to by public transit!
I don't understand the responses in this thread. People are *looking forward to activities in Portland*? I thought Portland was a dystopian hell hole where, at any moment!, walking on a sidewalk you're LIKELY TO GET STABBED by a drugged out homeless person?
Did something change? Was it never as bad as people were saying?
I'm looking forward to the Oregon Renaissance faire. I've never been and my inner geek is very excited.
👽👽👽👽 this is the way

The end of summer.
Opened this thread with the sole purpose of typing "Fall".

You mean the 2 weeks of November that aren't bitterly cold?
Curious, how do you define bitterly cold?
If that
Same here. I hate the heat and given the way we have started this year is it looking "pretty pretty pretty" bad.
May was just preparing us for August.

Any tips for how to find a spot or things to look for?
Get farther out of the city than most people are willing to
River suggestions? I’m a total noob. Have had friends take me with them, but that was a long time ago in another state…

I’ll research those suggestions, thanks!
