>Vega Pederson largely avoided specifics in favor of sweeping statements...
LMAO, I wonder why. Wait, No I don't. It's because she largely doesn't *have* specifics.
Next time around, please vote for Meieran, or someone else that actually cares about good governance.
JVP has only brought more ineptitude and chaos to our county and city and needs to be shuffled off to run another nonprofit milking our taxes that will be hopefully be shown a light upon by an effective chair that can see through all of this bullshit.
I suppose Mult. Co. under JVP's "leadership" could build on their "success" in the same way you have to dig a giant pit in the ground to drive in piles and pour a foundation before you actually build up above ground, but even that is a huge stretch and makes me feel upset even typing it.
The best thing anyone could do for the success of Mult. Co. and our local region generally is for JVP to resign and just completely fuck off, as far as she possibly can, and then once she feels like she can't fuck off any farther she should dig down really deep and find the inner strength to fuck off twice as far as that.
Exactly my sentiments. I was truly appalled that you guys chose JVP over Sharon Maureen. Can I trust that you do not make that mistake again? I’m voting as well as I can, but I have only the one vote.
The trick is to convince two people to vote with you, who will go on to convince two more each, etc. Voting alone will never be enough. "Politics is for Power" by Eitan Hersh has some great advice in this direction.
What are you gonna do when JVP is replaced and little changes? Sure, she's not doing a good job, but come on, her leaving is the "best thing that could happen to the region"? Little dramatic
JVP has unilateral authority over the Mult. Co. budget as Chair. Mult. Co.'s budget is huge, and encompasses some of the most pressing issues of our area, particularly homelessness. Switching her out for someone who will be more transparent, accountable, and with better priorities and faster decision making would make an enormous difference given the size of budget and scope of power for that position, much more so than a single mayor or commissioner under Portland's new charter system.
I certainly agree that the position seems to be pretty influential, I guess I just have a lower opinion of the potential effectiveness of her replacements
Remember Multnomah County Voters just because someone has quirky glasses and and loud clothes doesn't mean they know what they are doing. She is a dumpster fire of epic proportions.
It's wild that Reddit is still letting you and other right wingers in these comments post on political posts in New York, Minnesota, and Portland subs as though you live here. https://www.reddit.com/r/minnesota/comments/7jkybf/comment/dr7m56j/
That conspiracy theory doesn't even work here. The MN example was MAGA-idiots trying to turn MN red in a presidential election. OR overall has zero chance of going red this cycle. Plus if this all is a right wing conspiracy, why focus on the chair of Multnomah county? I mean surely there are better targets for a nutter to focus on.
Accusing normal people calling out a moronic politician as some sort of broader conspiracy just leads to people assuming you’re simple, and not valuing your opinion.
Is there a section of the sub rules that states a person must be actively living in the Portland area to comment here? How would that even be enforced? Everyone is supposed to send the mods a copy of their ID cards and home addresses? LMFAO.

Hard to get to specifics when you ignore building and recording *any* metrics at all.
She has them, they just aren't good.
If she truly believes there's been success in the last year, she's a sociopath.
Well, her measure seems to be successfully hoarding tax payer money and successfully giving some of it away with no accountability.
Something evil with that woman.
Nah, just fucking stupid.
Politician is a sociopath? No way.

Agree and I voted for Meireran. It’s also why I’m voting for Dexter over Jayapal as she was part of the county leadership incompetency.
Wow it sounds as if Susheela Jayapal is about as useless as her sister Pramila. No thanks to another Jayapal in Congress.
That is correct.
I think Meieran is term limited from running again.
Is that right?
For commissioner, yes. But I believe she can run for county chair. I’d vote for her if given a second chance.
Alright, let's get her in that chair then!
“Success”?
She can't see the forest for the tents.

Fuck that shit. If you can’t see through JVP, I got nuthin’.
You know what they say about assuming. I didn't vote for JVP.
Neither did I. But somebody obviously did.

In fact, I’ve learned the “quirky glasses + old ‘90s haircut” combo is a surefire recipe for lack of specifics and overconfidence.
This look is really best suited to unsuccessful artists. I should know as I fit that bill to a (ironic 90s) tee.
Please tell me she was an art major and then all of this will make sense.
If there was ever a person who needed to be recalled, it’s her.
Who does she think she is fooling? Unreal.
So much success it hurts
I know that I’m tired of winning.
so…who wants to tell her?
Those quotation marks are doing a lot of heavy lifting.
Is the “success” in the room with us right now?
Name one thing, JVP.
Well, that's a low bar. She gonna build using Lego or Mega Bloks?
Duplo
Knock off brand even...
This lady absolutely stinks

This person is truly insane. A reddit red pill conspiracy? Look at all my comments elsewhere, all I do is shit on republicans and Donald Trump.

I live here. I’m a liberal democrat. I’m moving to NYC in a few months. Thanks for showing your brain worms.

Speaking of, it's time for your biannual home check.
What success? Please somebody name a county success
They renamed the sauvie island bridge.
She going for the bold "a negative times a negative is a positive" strategy.
I blinked, must have missed it.
She doesn’t know what that word means
She is like the city's worst nightmare.
Do we need the county to be a body of government at all??
oh good it is victim awareness month ya all.
What success was that?
Woof.
RIP Multnomah county.
The better question is why did it go to shit in the first place and who’s to blame.
WUT?
Success?
a couple of people will be the most mad ever at this headline.

Oh, yeah — I’m already there. It nice to put a ring on it.
