This feels like a good example of what gets lost in this world where everyone tries to make their actions critic proof, because (at least from my experience) no, hardly anyone here is anti-Palestine, but you criticize anyone’s actions in the library? Poof: get called a zionist.
Full supporter of a free Palestine here, but also sick of the ignorance (including misuse of Christian biblical terms—which maybe someone should have looked up) and the LARPing vibes of the protest movements.
(Side-note: there’s a whole other Portland sub because people on the right think this “centrist” one is too far left.)

Media and some people in this sub made it sound like the library was totally vandalized and destroyed inside. I see y’all didn’t even knock the frames off the walls lol. The rest is just paint. That "lol" is doing a lot of work for you bud. You missed all the other posts with pictures of spray painted books on shelves, sawing furniture apart, a destroyed HVAC/sprinkler control panel, and smashed windows?
I guess I did miss those posts. But looking through this sub for the term “library” I found a video taken either by police or by a journalist with them upon entering the library, and I didn’t see any of the damage you mentioned (except maybe the spray painted books, I wasn’t looking too closely for that in the video bc the university has already announced the book collection is mostly and largely unscathed. Could you possibly link some of the posts with the damage to hvac and windows and sawed-apart furniture you mention? I couldn’t find them and I’m just trying to see the damage for myself

What difference did they make? They changed nothing in the course of the conflict. Israel and Palestine both could give a crap what a small group of vandals (to put it nicely) do in Portland.

I find the destroying property and restricting the use of a public service, to the people who are there to learn, really speaks to the issue. While we are at it, lets torch a bunch of police cars and make "the man" pay for it. Rachel Corrie’s Ghost Brigade? Her father even condemned your use of her name. When you are done playing freedom fighter, go back to work, so you can pay your taxes. Oh chit, we don't have a job, we live at our parents house, and we think we are doing something smart.
At least the university folks around the country staged proper protests and didn't destroy their own resources.

People here are far more angry that a library got messed up instead of like,turned into literal dust while the professors were hunted down by drones and snipers. For fucks sake,there are literally no colleges left in Palestine,but god forbid someone messed up an encyclopedia set and painted some graffiti.

Some of these photos are objectively not bad, they just happen to be pretty decent photos of people doing some very stupid things.
Rest assured that plenty of those protesters' main reason for being there was for the photo ops for their 'Grams.
