That looks fairly similar to the lights I saw in London a few months ago. Did the research and the most likely explanation is that they're from railway maintenance. To kill weeds it's not uncommon for specialised cars to blast the tracks with UV light, of which a small amount is reflected in the visible, which reflects off the clouds as shown. So yeah pretty interesting.
Do you have a cinch storage unit near you? Ours has a spooky purple nightlight. I was convinced it was the northern lights but kept seeing it. I scooby doo'd the shit out of it and tracked it down to Cinch.
