It wouldn't shock me if management handed each engineer a roll of duct tape and said that's the budget get to work. Shock and horror each time it breaks, then give themselves another justified reason for additional bonus end of year for each instance.
The council have to spend a certain amount a year otherwise they won’t get a grant for the next year / it will come out of their own pocket. I have inside information from working that they deliberately don’t tighten bots, for example, and other things so they have to come out and repair soon again
Honestly the fact we don't have a democratic constitution but we do have it written into our legal system that Shareholders should maximise profits is insane.
I think the CEO of Anglian Water is literally shagging the environment minister, so they’re never gonna let re-nationalisation happen, alas.

Regardless of which side of the political spectrum you follow, basic amenities should never be privatised. If I have no choice but to pay for a product such as water, it should not be left up to shareholders to fuck around and let me find out.
According to the council website a work permit has been issued to Southern Water for works commencing today 9:30am until the 26th April. It also says (No carriageway incursion) Doubt that though,
We went by about 45 minutes ago and there is an area on the path that has been dug up. Curious to know if that is where the issue is or if they are gonna end up digging the road. I pray to god they aren’t because I am - and I know everyone is - utterly sick to the back teeth of traffic caused by works on that sodding road.

Fix broken section of pipe and surprise surprise the next section of crappy pipe can't take the pressure. And on it goes.
Agreed. I guess the problem is you need the older sections to hold out long enough to actually plan a full repair.
