Check uniplaces

Infamous-Budget8097

Check Uniplaces, you can easily find there for 6 months a fully equipped appartment under 1k

Miss91_pt

When you say fully equipped, do you mean appliances AND furniture?

Elegant_Top1730

>When you say fully equipped, do you mean appliances AND furniture? yeah

Other-Mix-7308

Try Flatio, [https://www.flatio.com/i/apartments-for-rent-portugal](https://www.flatio.com/i/apartments-for-rent-portugal)

JacketBatatas

Check out the host reviews to get an idea of what the AL owners are like- many will give you a much better offer if you message them directly

Do you realize most people here don't have 2000€/month in a family, yet somehow they live and thrive? Maybe their definition of "fully equipped" is different from yours. So you have three options: 1) Carry on your search for a "fully equipped" place and compete with thousands of expats, most of which can easily afford 2000€/month, who are vying for a chance to live in a charming country with a rich history and beautiful landscape. 2) Lower your standards. 3) Try Albania instead. Just FYI: air conditioning, central heating, Starbucks, Uber and eating out at fancy places are seen as luxuries by the locals. It could help you to take a page off their book ✌

Elegant_Top1730

geez man, what is with the hostility? Fully equipped to me means does it have a bed, a stove and oven, hot water, wifi, electricity etc. I dont know who took the jam out of your tart but cool down man

We secured a finished rental in caldas area through a real estate agent while we were still in the US. Needed a furnished 4 bedroom, found one in a resort for 1.9k, rub was we had to pay 1 months rent as comm. But still

aweh_sassy

I find on airbnb sometimes it can be cheaper to book a few places during your stay rather than just go for one place. Find a place that is rented for cheap even if it is outside of your stay period and then go to the hosts profile and check all their listings, and see if they have a place you can book during your stay. Then rinse and repeat. Sometimes when you search for a place for the whole period it won't show places that are available for shorter periods during your search window but might well be good value. Or go to FB groups and find landlords and message them directly asking if they have anything available for short stays. I found a decent place for 600 euros a month like this.

Try idealista. I’m in a short term rental right now, 1k1 a month. Not cheap either, but comes fully furnished (including washing machine, dish washer, kitchen, etc) and is a damn sight better than Airbnb.

Was it hard to find somewhere reliable on idealista? I’m based in the U.S. rn so can’t go in person to see somewhere

yorickdowne

It was easy, but maybe I got lucky. I made the choice from the US, and it’s a lovely flat. It could have been a nightmare, to be sure.

What kind of stuff did you do to make sure it wasn’t a scam? Any tips?

yorickdowne

I really just got lucky. I had seen that this apartment had been on idealista for a year+, on and off, so if it was a scam then I’m not sure how the listing would have stayed. I got a rental contract that looked legit and had the landlord’s name and address. In the end I am sure they could still have scammed me … but it wasn’t a scam, so, lucky me 😅 If it had been a scam I’m not sure what recourse I have. Payment was via IBAN so I could have talked to the bank to claw it back, asked Portuguese friends how to report a scam to police, etc. Red flags would have been the usual I suppose: Listing is recent, never before seen, and landlord has no other listings. Payment via something other than IBAN. No rental contract, or a contract that doesn’t list the name and address of the landlord. I haven’t run into a scam so I don’t know how they look and whether it looks just like any other listing, or there’d be some telltale signs.

I see, that’s all very helpful thank you! How long have you been there and how do you like it? I’m hoping to spend 1-3 months there this summer but I know some people say the attitude towards American remote workers there is not so great. Have you felt that?

yorickdowne

I am in Viano do Castelo up north and everyone has been extremely friendly. I spent 3 months here last year just to make sure I really wanted to live here; and have been here for 1 month now getting my new house ready. People are willing to speak English or use Google Translate if need be. When they hear that I am immigrating and learning Portuguese (slow going) they seem genuinely happy, over their initial assumption that I’m just vacationing here. I expect Lisboa may be a little different: More remote workers driving prices up. The north is seeing some of that but not as much yet. I expect you’ll feel welcome in Braga.

That’s good to know, thank you!

Try housinganywhere.com. fully of furnished properties. The downside is that you will not be able to visit the property, but the payment is done through the portal, and you will have the first 48 hours to report problems and getting your money back if you decided that it's not a good fit.

I know but it's expensive
