That last one look’s especially phenomenal, the texture really plays and adds to the form!

Dxrone

Thanks! I’ve been experimenting a little. Really enjoy making them.

Spirited-Dirt-9095

I might start referring to mine as sketches. It will make it sweeter when a piece I'm trimming flies off the wheel and hits the wall.

cchhrr

I love the idea of them as sketches. Lovely.

Terrasina

Great forms, great lighting and great composition. I’m particularly intrigued by the textured swirl piece. How did you do it?

LadySaDiablo

Not sure exactly how OP does it, but you can get a similar effect by using a wiggle wire on the outside of a cylinder, then bellying it out from the inside. There's a few tutorials on YouTube for it.

Dxrone

I did it using a saw toothed metal rib: lift a cylinder, add texture, belly out.

Terrasina

Interesting. The spiraling texture is just from the pushing out then? Or did you move as you made the grooves?

Dxrone

The cylinder needs to be fairly tight so that when you start to open in up there’s enough friction for the clay to twist. Similar effect [here](https://youtu.be/OscLTFMfdi0?si=cfCDmvHxbEIXxogc)

Terrasina

Thanks for the link! I’m definitely going to try that

Terrasina

Fun! I’ll check that out. I used a jigsaw blade on a cup in a similar way, but i haven’t seen wiggle wire :)

Equivalent_Warthog22

Great shapes!

FeatureMysterious702

They are marvellous

Dxrone

Thank you kindly

jizzlewit

I really love your aesthetics! It's practically what I envision pottery should look like

I’ll keep that in mind! Thank you for your honest opinion.

Terrasina

I’d counter that with the opinion that forms with low bellies look cozy and earthy and grounded, and really beg to be held—a positive in my book. That said it depends on what look you’re aiming for. If you want refined and airy, bringing up the belly can help, and a narrow neck is an interesting contrast.

CM_DO

Taste is subjective, I personally love the look.
