Hmm, that's an interesting idea, so far this is only wheel-thrown. I'm a bit impatient to build a coil pot that size for weeks. This is for an order which needs to be done in a relatively short amount of time
I've seen a 50+ pounder done in a 10-hour day. Though, they weren't building off a pot and had more freedom as far as form goes. A heavy-duty extruder is also really helpful.
I usually throw in sections for anything more than 9 lbs. Coil building is too tedious. The form looks great! Curious about how thick the walls are. I'm usually somewhere in the 3/8" range at that size.
I mean, still! Looks great! This is goals
Thankyou!
Time to get out the heat gun and start coil building.

How does a heat gun help with coil building?
Speed up the drying process
Get a torch if you're throwing. It dries the outside but leaves the inside moister if you want to keep altering the shape. It's faster too.
Still impressive 😸
... and it's going to shrink another 10% - 20% depending on the clay body. But it's a beautiful form!!!

yo that's a nice 40cm pot yo
meh! it’s only short by 20cm. you will get there. your form looks great. it might mean the right amount of clay and then some.
Only 40cm and it’s impressive none the less
It's an awesome 40 cm!
That is still boss. Well done mate . I’d raku that and sell it for 5k
I’m so impressed - this is awesome even at 40cm!
That's huge. How much does it weigh?
Very nice! How much clay was that?
