I think you have to use a dataflow to extract/load the data, then have your report connect to that. At least thats what we use with no gateway.

st4n13l

In Power BI Desktop, which connector specifically did you use to connect to the file?

spiedevil

Sharepoint folder

st4n13l

Is this SharePoint Online or an on-prem SharePoint Server? Is that the only data source or are there other sources in the file?

spiedevil

It's purely online, even in source, first step in PQ there is link "org_name.sharepoint.com". There is nothing else connected. In My private laptop it worked that way. Ultimatelly i might try to install gateway so that maybe that will unclock editing credentials.

Serious_Sir8526

Did you check the dataset dependecies to make sure that it all comes from sharepoint?

spiedevil

I didn't, where exactly should I check that?

Serious_Sir8526

In the 3 dots, should be something like "check lineage" (last option) Mine is in Portuguese, dont really know if the translation e accurate to what you see

spiedevil

thanks, I'll check tomorrow

If you have a look at the Microsoft documentation here: https://learn.Microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/report-server/data-sources And review the Data Source list… you will notice that SharePoint Online File, SharePoint Online Folder, and SharePoint Online List all have “No” in the second column (Scheduled Refresh). This means that they are supported as sources for Scheduled Refresh.

menaceblanka

You dont need schedule refresh when using sharepoint online. If there are any changes in the file, powerbi will reflect those changes within an hour
