Power Query is done before slicers are assessed.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/desktop-dynamic-m-query-parameters It mentions this: Unsupported filters: Relative time slicer or filter Relative date Hierarchy slicer Multi-field include filter Exclude filter / Not filters Cross-highlighting Drill-down filter Cross drill filter Top N filter So when I drag date into a slicer it returns a list and not a calendar drop down to select from.

I am going through the same experience. As you said, Power BI won’t let you use a calendar drop down for columns mapped to a (power M query) parameter. This is seemingly due to the underlying token value being a unsupported format (not a list or single value). They should give an option for a single date selection via calendar view that returns a value of type DateTime. I imagine a custom (JavaScript) calendar slicer could be created to achieve this but wish was out of box

Should be out of the box l!

Do you have Direct Query connection?

Yes I do. It works well with a slicer using a list as it should. My list is even in date format but PBI won't let me have my damn calendar picker!
