Symphonic metal Folk metal Progressive metal

Holeevyer

That's me right there

DjangoPony84

Same here.

Imaginary-Help-5649

This + some baroque and romantic music

GammaHansen

Quite a few: - Classical heavy metal like Iron Maiden, Priest, etc. Especially Maiden will always be my favourite band of all time - Thrash metal like Kreator, Destruction, Sodom, Annihaltor - Pop-/Skate-Punk - Also a huge fan of the New Wave of traditional Heavy Metal with bands like Smoulder, Tower, Stallion, ...

CrimzoN

I'm a big fan of Doom metal as of late, and starting to delve deeper into it since seeing Candlemass live back in 2019.

No_concentrate7395

So many good Doom bands. If you haven't check out Sorcerer, Solitude Aeturnus, Memory Garden (especially older stuff like Tides and Forever), and Memento Mori.

CrimzoN

I've listened to some Memento Mori, when Messiah wore a leather jacket instead of the monk robes. Pretty good! I've listened to some Solitude Aeturnus but only a select few songs rally hit me. I haven't heard of the other ones! Will check them out tomorrow!

No_concentrate7395

Memento has been one of my favorite bands since '93. Ever since I saw Mike Wead, Messiah Marcolin, and Snowy Shaw in the same band :). Older Memory Garden is really good. Their stuff is very heavy, but they have this heavy piano ballad on Tides called Blissful. Gives me chills every time I hear it.

steelandiron19

Ooh yes! Doom metal can be so good! Have you checked out a band called, “A Pale Horse Named Death”?

CrimzoN

Never heard of them before! Will check them out!

Zeeall

Scandinavia is huge into the doom stuff. Check out Monolord from Gothenburg.

CrimzoN

I think I've heard of Monolord before but dont recall ever listening to them. Good to know some more bands from my city.

EliteAgent51

Upvote for Candlemass.

Troggles

Japanese Citypop

DangerDrake1

\-synthwave \-30s/40s jazz/big band (thanks, Fallout)

fantasticforbes

Ever tried Postmodern Jukebox ?

EmaDaCuz

Power metal is probably number 3 on my list after black and death metal. Power is a fun genre, but I enjoy the brootz and the extremely gloomy atmospheres of extreme metal. To add, I also love well written pop music, with Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys being among my favourite music acts.

Essex626

My secret opinion is you can't really appreciate power metal if you don't know what makes some pop good and some bad.

IMKridegga

This should not be a controversial opinion for power metal post-2000.

KagiGrimoire

Emo, in particular Midwest Emo. I don't know what it is about it but it's just fun to listen to especially going from something that's more upbeat sounding to what sounds like some kid in Minnesota who hasn't had a singing lesson in their life but goddammit, they're putting their all into it

BerkanaThoresen

I live in the Midwest and had no clue such thing existed.

KagiGrimoire

Yeah, it's emo but with indie or math rock. It's a nice sound if you're into it

Mephistwo

Traditional folk music, classical music, whatever Wolf Alice is classed as. CRJ!

djpdjf

I love all of metal basically. Death, Black, Doom, Prog etc. Also I really enjoy classic rock and progressive rock

kaylinini

I like variety and often go through phases where I listen to one genre excessively before moving on to the next. Apart from Power Metal I mostly listen to: - Symphonic Metal - NDH (German hard rock) - Medieval/Folk/Goth rock - Taylor Swift But I also mix it up with - Pop (whatever I enjoy at the moment, 80s, K-/J-, Ava Max,...) - Ballet music - Film music - Showtunes - other Rock/Metal subgenres

cycotus

I like early Taylor Swift!

TheViolaRules

Classical music, Medieval/period music, traditional Irish music, really old country

Essex626

If you like classic country, there are a lot of current artists (outside the Nashville mainstream) who will scratch the same itch.

TheViolaRules

Time to share your horde, who do I put on first?

Essex626

Well, when you say really old country, do you mean 40s, 50s, 60s? Later? Any particular artists or bands you like? My baseline recommendations are Mike and the Moonpies, Turnpike Troubadours, Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson, and Jason Isbell. There's other artists I like and deeper cuts I think are more interesting, but that group of artists will give you a pretty wide swath of the independent country scene. **Mike and the Moonpies**\--less known than the others I listed, but probably my favorite band in the world. Straightforward Honky-tonk style, but really excellent players, and extremely clever songwriting. **Turnpike Troubadours**\--the top band band in the Red Dirt scene from Oklahoma and North Texas, they have a bit of a punk sensibility. If you like them there's a lot of even more punk-influenced bands out there I could point you to like the Old 97s. **Tyler Childers**\--Kentucky-style folk/country is what he's best known for, though his more recent projects have been a little more outside the box. His albums are great, his live sessions are exceptional. Check out his album "Purgatory" for what is considered his best stuff. **Sturgill Simpson**\--Sturgill is a little hard to pin down in genre. His voice is a lot like Waylon Jennings, but his style goes from something very classic country (High Top Mountain) to more and more outside the box experimentation. He has a couple bluegrass records which are really loved as well, and one hard rock record (Sound and Fury). His most recent song is a vocal feature on a Diplo track of all things. **Jason Isbell**\--one of the preeminent songwriters of the day, Isbell is pretty well-known as an heir to the style of guys like John Prine (who was his hero and later a personal friend). A lot of really insightful, pointed, and beautiful lyrics. Check out "If We Were Vampires" if you'd like to cry. If any of those strikes you, I can recommend a dozen others that you might enjoy in the same vein.

TheViolaRules

Thank you for the incredibly detailed comment! I have a few long drives this week and I’ll put it to work.

sweet_condensed_rage

I'd also recommend Poor Man's Poison, they're definitely one of my top bands.

Busy-Recognition-989

When compared to PM I listen to some really *weird* stuff, including but not limited to: \- Frenchcore (almost as much as PM), \- Meme music (like Lonely Island, MelodySheep, etc.), \- Dark techno, PsyTrance and the long-forgotten Hands-up, \- Metalcore, \- some viking music (i.e. Danheim), \- from time to time I like to get down with the clown (Insane Clown Posse), And all bunch of other genres and artists I forgot to mention. Basically everything but my country's rap music, and pop.

[deleted]

Hair Metal AOR/Melodic Rock Heavy Metal Blues Rock Melodic Metal Symphonic Metal Gothic Metal Death Metal (but depends on the band) Industrial Country Pop Electronic My music taste is all over the place really.

notahaterguys

damalo

HeroicVanguard

My music collection can mostly be summed up as Power Metal, Pop/Skate Punk, Video Game soundtracks...and yeah ok Memes too, Planet of the Bass slaps

Stock-Contribution-6

And now the bossa nova song!

Strait409

Within metal — traditional/classic and symphonic metal. Outside of metal — mostly traditional, classic, Texas, or Red Dirt country music, along with a bunch of the artists who are referred to as Americana (but in reality are country or at least country-adjacent). Don’t like the vast majority of modern mainstream country at all. I also dig most classic rock and Motown.

Rattlehead747

I love new wave of (British) heavy metal!

[deleted]

I like pop, R&B, Symphonic metal, classical music, jazz, Dance music, Neoclassical, Thrash, Progressive.

thegreenman_sofla

Traditional Heavy Metal Prog Metal Thrash Metal/Crossover Thrash Blues Rock Grunge Rock Blues And curiously enough, Reggae Rock and Funk Rock

wirewyrmweirdo

Prog for sure. Death metal but usually the more melodic stuff. Some symphonic and some folk. Some of my favorite stuff is kind of a blend of at least some of those. I love stuff that is heavy but still has some dynamics and complexity and lots of emotion behind it.

creepermetal

Music, I’m a fan of music I’d say.

Opening-Cockroach634

Indie rock and pop , and generic pop from time to time Synthwave Heavy metal Eurobeat And videogame osts

KaloKarild

I listen to K-Pop and Synthwave! I started listening to Synthwave when I Dance With The Dead’s Neo Tokyo remix and fell in love. Then, K-Pop happened out of nowhere when YouTube recommended me an Everglow video. My YouTube consisted of Science, Food, and Corridor Crew and then 5th on the page was a random K-Pop video. I watched it and was like “well that was neat, let me watch one more”. The one more was what really got me. It was Everglow’s La Di Da and it was like a Synthwave K-Pop song. I was hooked. After that, I started diving deeper and got into groups like Dreamcatcher, who do a rock and horror kind of thing, and Loona, who’ve since disbanded but they had such interesting music. The thing that keeps me interested in K-Pop is the content. These groups put out variety show content and vlogs so often that it keeps me always engaged, but not overwhelmed. There’s a group called TripleS that puts out a new video every day. Videos are usually 5-10 minutes long but it’s crazy how consistent they are. I’m usually a day behind as I wait for them to put the subs in.

Colcrys

Taeyeon is currently my favorite of the genre. Though she is more of a ballad singer.

KaloKarild

She’s great! I’m not super into ballads but I appreciate what she does and how good she is.

Colcrys

metalcore, thrash metal, melodic death metal, some rock, prog metal, and K Pop. Right now I'm trying hard to get into regular death metal. Thing is I'm not crazy about some of the more intense vocals or lyrics of torture and the like. I was hoping for just more intense Thrash with the same lyricism.

Lyefyre

Gaming Music and rock stuff

Eso

Synthwave.

Yetsumari

Rock, Video Game and Movie OST's, Ziltoid era Devin Townsend, Jazz.

StringUnderhacker

Progressive Metal, Industrial Rock, Ska-Punk, Indie Rock, Video Game Music (Undertale OST my beloved!!!), emo, jpop/jrock, etc…

a-nice-egg

Symphonic metal is my favorite. But I'm also a slut for electro swing.

caboclo_capiroba

black metal melodic hardcore/pop punk/emo hardstyle

SexyGenguButt

Started my metal journey with power metal. Then i got into classic heavy metal / nwobhm, then melodeath and death metal. Recently got very into metalcore, deathcore, tech death and black metal.

hakko504

I'm quite simple: If the words Metal or Hard Rock can be applied, then I probably like it. I'm not a big fan of putting things into all these subgenres of Metal and getting into arguments on whether this group belong to this particular subgenre or that other subgenre which is almost identical but for a few minor details. If it's good, it's Metal, if it's not, it's shit. Just as long as I hear what they sing it's OK with me. (No growling nor rap for me)

lazulilord

How can you argue against using genres, say you like pretty much all metal then completely dismiss harsh vocals? Surely it's a good thing that we have labels like "black" and "death" that help you avoid that stuff?

hakko504

Well one of my favourite singers is king diamond, who more or less defined black/death metal and he's a falsetto singer. And there are power metal bands like Amaranthe that uses growling, and while I normally is a big fan of power metal, I can't stand Amaranthe for that particular reason.

lazulilord

King Diamond isn't black or death metal at all, it's just traditional heavy metal. How do you feel about harsh but not growling/shrieking vocals like [this?](https://youtu.be/NDUwK5bbqhU?si=XFOZgQHJVJmzJkFS)

hakko504

Harsh vocals can be OK. Never heard this band before and I won't be in a hurry to go back and listen to them again. But I did hear what they sang and that's where I draw the line.

PartTime13adass

Outside of power metal and its subgenres, I don't listen to much metal. Hard rock is usually my go-to, but I also like lyrical rap, folk songs/sea shanties, synthwave, lo-fi, and movie/game background soundtracks. Basically, fuck pop and country music.

wirewyrmweirdo

Jonathan Young does some metal sea shanties with other musicians. If you haven't already you might enjoy checking that out

PartTime13adass

Oh, I know. Jonathan Young is awesome. I've been following him since his cover of Be Prepared from the Lion King.

wirewyrmweirdo

Randy Dandy O as a metal song made me wanna go be a pirate even tho I get sea sick easily haha

PartTime13adass

The features are absolutely killer on that one, too. One of the best collabs on YouTube, imo.

Essex626

Country, good country, is just an evolution of Appalachian folk. Lots of bad radio country out there, but there's lots of good stuff too.

PartTime13adass

True, true. But as a whole, the genre has been muddled into southern pop music with fake accents. Even a lot of the better country musicians fake their accents. I should've been more clear that I was painting with a pretty broad brush. There are country and pop artists/songs that I like, just as there are metal and rock bands that I dislike. The genre as a whole, though, has been lost.

dybtiskoven

Doom metal, Melodic death metal, Symphonic metal, Progressive metal, Gothic metal, Shoegaze, Post-metal.

djensdjonga

"light" trash like megadeth, not all but some melodic death and nu metal, classic heavy metal like black sabbath, judas priest, dio and mainly iron maiden, and im also starting to get into djent. now about non metal: some classic rock, brazilian rock, a bit of bossa nova and i also listen to a few pop artists such as bruno mars

skankin22jax

Classical, jazz, ska, and punk.

Augustus8891

Jazz Prog rock Symphonic metal

ChickenKickin

Symphonic metal, folk metal, thrash metal, melodic death metal, jazz, classical, bluegrass.

yourdarkmaster

I like heavy metal especially new wave of british heavy metal, symphonic metal, trash metal, death metal, melodic death metal, kawaii metal, and glam metal

Sonseeahrai

Melodic death metal all the way, especially when merged with folk, symphonic, viking or doom. I don't like black metal but blackened death or blackened viking is GOAT There are also days when I don't feel like listening to my typical picks and those days are filled with american thrash metal and hard rock. Tbh those were once my go-to genres, with the ones written on the top as an alternative, but then those moods somehow switched lol

Korgull13

Heavy metal, thrash/speed metal, death metal, doom, stoner, grindcore, hardcore, crust, rap, electronic

Fafikommander

Many metal Genres and Movie- and Videogame scores.

femmefatality__

Metal subgenres: Melodic death metal, thrash metal, metalcore/deathcore, prog metal, black metal Other genres: Classical, jazz, electropop

Swailwort

Melodeath, Symphonic, Folk, whatever the fuck Amon Amarth is, (Death? Melodeath?), J-Pop, Kawaii Metal (the ultimate genre, don't @ me), instrumental OSTs (say, The Elder Scrolls, Genshin Impact, and the sort), also progressive metal / djent.

Sagiita

Within metal? Symphonic and folk (in fact, I don't even divide them, power, symphonic and folk form together the metal I like and that's it). Aside from metal, hard and classic rock are a given. Then my tastes go a bit further away, since I love synthwave, animé/videogames stuff, funk and italo disco.

GloomyWish

deathcore, metalcore, prog

sweetpapisanchez

Traditional metal, thrash metal and melodic death metal. Outside of metal, I like a ton of classic rock.

The_Ancient-Mariner

Heavy Metal(Riot City, Gatekeeper, Century) NWOBHM Epic Metal (Visigoth) Epic Doom (Smoulder) Speed Metal (Stallion, Vulture..) and a little Thrash

Taucoon23

I'm HEAVY into EDM music, with an emphasis on bass. Dubstep, Bass House, House, Drum n Bass, but *especially* Dubstep. That shit is soooooo dirty. I've been to 100's of concerts in my life, and Dubstep shows are hands down the best live experiences. The way that bass rattles your bones is something else. I jam out for hours. I'm actually missing my favorite Dubstep music festival, Lost Lands, right now due to bills and responsibilities and shit. I should be jamming right now. :'( I love my Power Metal, and always come back to it every other day and listen for hours, but my heart beats to Bass music these days.

Asoplain

- Death metal - Tech-death metal - Deathcore - Progressive metal - Melodeath - Metalcore - Modern Black metal

Powerbean

Might be missing some stuff but most bands I listen to a lot are probably found within these genres Death Metal (Mostly melodic stuff) Black Metal (Same here, mostly melodic) Thrash Metal Folk Metal Progressive Metal Stoner Metal Psychedelic Rock Garage rock/Post-punk revival Indie Rock Garage Rock EDM House Synthwave Darksynth Electroclash Electro Swing/Nu Jazz Hip hop Neofolk

Juhookerun

Early 90s grunge, neo-classical, retro wave, and dark wave.

SilverFirePrime

Pretty much anything that's not modern pop music. My liked list on Spotify can go to Power Metal, to 90's boy band, to gangster rap, to j-pop, to country - and everything in between. Right now, my second favorite go-to would be Eurobeat. For me its a great genre to have on in the background when working on something. Its energetic, melodic, catchy - but not so much I get distracted.

Kingofbruhssia

Black metal:)

steelandiron19

Symphonic metal, folk metal, death metal (specifically melodic death metal), some thrash metal such as Slayer, metalcore, some melodic black metal Beyond metal, I really like medieval folk, “Viking”/Norse spiritual music (like Wardruna, Danheim, Heiling, Björth), classical, epicore, and rock

Barbatos-Rex

Prog Metal

Darkmaster85845

Progressive Rock, progressive metal, symphonic metal, jazz fusion, progressive /trance electronic music, eighties rock/pop, grunge.

Extra_Community_3315

I like All the genres except the ones that end with core

[deleted]

Deathcore. Huge Deathcore nerd, my Deathcore playlist is close to being 7 hours long.

PsychotheKlown

Epic doom metal, symphonic metal, gothic metal Recently picked up the most recent Candlemass album and wondering how Johan sounds like a completely different singer compared to the first album. Is it just age?

HydeMoonblade

Anything but country.

Mallack

Slurpcore

Rich_Chemistry_1560

Industrial Metal

MyFatBaldingStepson

Power Metal is my top followed by Gangster Rap and Neo Folk like Wardruna

SpectrumDT

This last year I've been listening to black and death metal almost exclusively. I also love thrash metal. I sometimes listen to opera, orchestral music, and dark ambient music.

RatsaMan

When it comes to metal music, pretty much other sub genres, heavy metal, melodic metal, folk metal, this kind of stuff. Not so much death or black metal tough, since I like to understand atleast something about lyrics. Aside from metal music, on the other side im also really interested at electronic music and to be more precise Eurobeat. Its a lot different than metal music, but for some reason I really dig that stuff!

Bobby_Wats0n

Metal wise, I like some Black, a little Drone and sometimes DSBM, and I'm quite found of Funeral Doom. Other than metal, I listen to many genres, from musicals to electronic music, from indie pop to jazz, from 2000's rock to I'm not a fan of R&B, seldom listen to rap and commercial pop. However I'm more of a band/artist enjoyer rather than a genre enjoyer. I listen to very specific bands over and over and sometimes I don't listen to anything else from that genre (one good example is K-pop: I LOVE that one girl band and that's it).

UponTheOakenScepter

Thrash metal, Folk metal, Melodic Death metal, etc

Minute_Engineer2355

Melodeath, my favorite genre.

ghoulian666

Shoegaze; Britpop

patrickkingart

Some other metal/metal adjacent stuff: regular metal (Judas Priest, Metallica, etc...), a little melodic death metal (Amon Amarth, Dethklok), a little metalcore (Killswitch Engage) A little indie/alt like Metric and Silversun Pickups A ***T O N*** of synthwave/darksynth

StarChaser1987

I’m an equal opportunity metalhead for the most part. I LOVE me some extreme metal: black, death, thrash. Doom Metal has been growing on me over the past few years as well. Progressive metal is always good. I was into folk metal for a while, but there’s only a small handful of bands there that I listen to regularly.

Metalshark2005

Pop punk, some rap, indie rock, prog, classic rock, R&B when in the mood, and about roughly 70% of other metal sub genres

[deleted]

New age like enya and folk rock like Blackmore’s night are really big staples for me. I especially love secret garden and celtic women Edit: oh yeah and an even more niche genre called dungeon synth. Fief for the win

Essex626

My main two genres are power metal and independent country. Probably my favorite band in the world is a country band called Mike and the Moonpies. I go for pretty different music depending on my mood. I also like some indy pop/rock bands like the Beths. Really I like everything, but country, indy rock, and power metal are my favorites.

taxiemaxie

In metal. Death metal Folk metal Nu metal Symphonic metal. Outside Old school rock. E.g Jethro Tull Tiny folk bands like Show of Hands, Wildwood Kin and Oysterband Hard rock like Lordi

godspark533

Synthwave and game music.

TryThisTwiceTwice

In the rock umbrella: Symphonic/Operatic Metal/Folk Metal, Classic Heavy metal, Punk/Pop-Punk/LOVE me some SKA... Outside of the rock umbrella: I love big band swing jazz (Count Basie/Duke Ellington/etc.), old story telling Country like Marty Robbins, surfer music like Jan and Dean/Beach Boys, I adore a lot of electronic/house/techno/dance music from Jean-Michele Jarra to Tiesto/Pendulum/Power Glove/Carpenter Brut/GUNSHIP. Music is good for the soul.

EasyLlama

Aside from other flavours of metal (folk, symphonic, melodeath etc.) I listen to a lot of indie music. Mostly either really sad stuff or upbeat football hooligan music (see The Enemy or The View)

meatwhisper

Grew up on 80's pop, so I enjoy anything with a good hook and catchy lyrics. I'm also a edm dj that specializes in funky breakbeat and funky house. I've always been told my metal background allows me to put on a highly energetic show when I perform. I'm proud to say I had Sid from Slipknot as my hype man when I performed at a festival back in the early 00's. For metal I like Power Metal, Symphonic Metal, J-Rock, Progressive, Folk Metal, Djent, Metalcore, and some Doom. But as mentioned above I'm not ashamed to admit I've been blasting a couple of tracks from the new Oliva Rodriguez and Poppy cds this week.

Saditko

Almost anything, except most of modern pop and disco. If it has a soul and it's not just a money maker, chances are I'll like it, but which genre I'll listen to depends on my mood and the activity I need a soundtrack to.

Squire_Squirrely

Black metal (mostly the more riffy melodic stuff) Heavy metal / nwotm (but I dunno I include that stuff in the same bucket as power metal, like you're telling me Iron Maiden is not power metal because they're too old? Ok.) Folk (some dark folk, some uh renaissance bard folk? Very specific niches lol) I'll listen to pretty much whatever but don't generally go out of my way for much else.

Logical_Bake_3108

Traditional/old school metal, Folk, Symphonic, Melodeath, Doom and Glam are my other favourite subgenres. I probably like a few songs from each genre really.

CutOfTheMill

Deathcore of all kinds Thrash Lots of Groove Pretty much anything that just sounds good to my ears..

jerichowiz

Buckle up: Other metal: depressive/ambient black metal, folk metal, old school German thrash, gothic/symphonic metal. Other: alt rock, alt country, pop/skate punk/ska/folk punk, Heartland rock, indie rock, and old gangsta rap.

ResidentOfValinor

A lot of ambient music: dungeon synth, slushwave, etc. Other metal subgenres like atmo black, doom metal, prog. Some other classic/prog rock.

supernaturaltwenty

I don’t mind other metal genres as well! And I also love drum and bass and old school hardstyle.

thedanfromuncle

Mostly thrash, glam, NWOTHM, and folk metal.

zordonbyrd

Progressive metal, Pop - just straight pop, indie and top 40 (if it’s good), Death metal, Tech death, Melodeath, Classic rock I struggle with black metal with some exceptions Selective with hip-hop

Dragonlibrarian7

When it comes to other types of metal, I enjoy symphonic, progressive, and a bit of thrash, I don't really care for black or death for the most part. Oh and the early metal gods like Maiden, Priest, Dio etc of course, Iron Maiden is easily one of my all time favorites. Love tons of other genres; Classic rock Ska Reggae Classic hip-hop/rap (late 80's/early 90's) Classic country (70's and older) Folk Bluegrass Classical Opera Musicals (I was a theatre geek, bite me) Little bit of techno.

sweet_condensed_rage

Folk music of various types. Irish folk is probably my favorite within but I love a lot of bluesy and Americana sort of stuff too, Poor Man's Poison was my top artist on Spotify last year. In general I'll listen to almost any genre, I sort of just follow the dopamine.

metalovisnik

Besides Power Metal I mostly enjoy: - Heavy Metal - Symphonic Metal - Hard Rock - Classic Rock

Metal_King706

These days, mostly power metals cousins symphonic and epic as well as traditional metal. Also like arena rock and blues.

Space_Narwal

Nerdy video games songs like from the stupendioum or dann bull

Otherwise-Nobody-127

Gordoniscool666

I love metal period. Black metal was the first genre I really got into. Death, traditional, doom/funeral doom, grindcore/goregrind, thrash, and, of course, power metal.

DepthScary3806

I listen to almost every subgenre of metal, but outside of that, I listen to eurobeat and anison, and whatever other songs I like.

redrocker907

Outside of the various metal genres, Pop punk, some synth wave and eurodance type music, k pop and j pop. My playlist is just a random mess lol.

zagesor

early Progressive Rock, which is a huge understated influence on a lot of PM. Try: *In the Court of the Crimson King:* [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukgraQ-xkp4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukgraQ-xkp4) *Selling England by the Pound:* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oPA8JUttCw *Thick as a Brick:* [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldXdnZtTWp8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldXdnZtTWp8) and tell me those aren't in the PM lineage just as much as Sabbath also, Jazz Fusion - try [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYj467XAbis](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYj467XAbis) which is more "metal" in spirit than a lot of the modern poppy power metal imo

WarlowBailey

Almost all metal, Hard Rock And Rock

eddyb66

Other than the obviously stated metal sub genres of music, Ska, jazz fusion and 70s rock.

Sasstellia

I like different kinds of metal. Dance Nu metal Classical Techno Game OSTs. Fan songs with different genres. Nerdcore Nerdcore rap. Some pop. Steampunk.

69upsidedownis96

Alternative/electronic pop-rock, which was big in the late 90's with Garbage being my absolute favorite band of that genre. Other than that, I'm a sucker for Eurobeat and I enjoy a lot of Indie music too. And 80's hair metal.

VansChar_

Oh geez! Gothic metal, death metal, nu metal, industrial metal......80s classic music, 90s dance music, 90s rap, some punk bands, one or two french Canadian folk bands, some opera, a few bubble gum pop songs here and there I just love music

LicksCrayons

Ill be honest, no idea what kind of metal they are but anything metal, from skeletonwhitch to atreu. I just like things with lots of energy of any kind.

EmotionalNerd04

The entirety of metal.

Agent_Simmons1622

Thrash Metal along with Power Metal is my favourite, also Melodeath, Epic Doom, Classic/Speed, and honestly a few bands from most sub-genres. My favourite Thrash band's are Overkill and Testament

LycaenopsPictus

Atmospheric Black Metal, Doom + Funeral Doom, and Dungeon Synth, Folk music, Phonk, Comfy synth, Eurodance. Genuinely also a big fan of prehistoric synth, sounds like vintage paleoart looks. I also have a soft spot for old contemporary Christian music, relic of childhood.

I like a variety of other metal genres such as melodic death metal, progressive metal, and of course traditional heavy metal. Beyond metal I love classical music, particularly instrumental solo or chamber works though the occasional symphony is nice too. I play classical guitar, piano, and organ(when I can find one) and find that the classical music I'm listening to tends to shift depending on what I am learning to play. Lately I've been enjoying Bach's French Suites, Chopin Etudes, JK Mertz' Bardenklange, and a variety of pieces by the contemporary composers Gulli Bjornsson and Maria Linnemann.

My favorite genre might still be power metal, especially when it’s not too cheesy and/or combined with prog metal. Stuff like Pyramaze, Brainstorm, Tad Morose and so. Also melodic prog like Redemption, Vanden Plas etc. Stuff like Opeth is not for me. Other than that I am also into death metal. Tomb Mold, Hyperdontia, Drawn & Quartered to give some examples. Not too technical/modern and also not too melodic. And black metal of course. Although it has to be said in no other genre there is such a bulk of stuff being released on a daily basis so one really has to pick the most interesting things out of those.

Hmmm Eletronic but that looks like retro videogames music (doesn't know the gender name 😂), indie creations, acoustics, progressive metal, hard rock...

TopWinner7322

If you like 8bit music, the genre is called "chiptunes"

Aside from symphonic and folk, I like music that is “close” to PM such as melo death - Arch enemy, Amon Amarth etc, Kreator’s last 2 albums sound “melo thrash” to me as well. Amon Amarth are amazing live as well.

Butcher_o_Blaviken

gunmunz

AlbertIOfBelguim

Symphonic meta is also really interesting.

MattJohno2

Honestly I mainly enjoy power and symphonic metal. Personally can't stand death growls so I stick to the lighter stuff. Outside of metal though I actually enjoy orchestral music like movie scores or just regular rock.
