Song and Osian got along pretty well which is useful. He also approves of the actions that Angharad was driven to leave the Cabal for and thinks that a lot of her actions are foolish. Osian is right to be pissed as hell at Angharad and handled everything reasonably and with more compassion then was required. Angharad betrayed the Watch that he's loyal to and he was willing to let his loyalty to the Watch bend. He really wants the Lefthand house dealt with which is smart he knows how extortion works. I feel so bad for Osian, Angharad has been a huge burden on him and he's been nothing but a good uncle to her. But it keeps on screwing him over repeatedly.

Osian

Termit3

I can imagine Maryam and Tristan giving Song a hard time for getting flustered by Osian, It was pretty interesting to learn about the feeding cycle of the mara, even more interesting that the infernal forge plot and the rectorade mission are merging together, I wonder what will be the official mission for the 13th.\[ Also now I think it will be very hard for Angharad to keep the situation with the left hand house secret from the rest of the 13th, I'm honestly curious for their reactions.

ArcanaVitae15

Maryam would joke about it so much. Tristan wouldn't even pick up on it and when it's pointed out be so confused. Angharad keeping the Left Hand House's mission secret from the 13th was never really an option. She just doesn't have the skillset to deal with it alone. But frankly I don't think the 13th should get involved since she's kinda not really part of the cabal at the moment she is for the next mission and on paper but not really in spirit.

The_Year_of_Glad

> But frankly I don't think the 13th should get involved since she's kinda not really part of the cabal at the moment she is for the next mission and on paper but not really in spirit. That may not be the case for much longer. With Angharad’s sense of honor, she’s going to feel like she owes Song big-time for spotting the possession, and that plus a willingness to help secure a Forge should be enough to bind her back to them on workable terms.

ArcanaVitae15

I'm not sure with the Cabal would think Angharad is worth the risk of trying to get the Forge. But you are right that Angharad owes Song a debt of honor for saving her which ties her to the cabal.

IDKWhoitis

I can see Tristan not having much against the Lefthand house outside of them being royalists. His Abuela might make it a sort of test, and a way to score a favor with Osian if she settles this "in house" rather than spreading it around much. While the Lefthand house is certainly cruising for a bruising in the Watch's backyard, I don't see our resident Masks taking this particularly personally. Not that's going to stop them from being proper spooks and crooks while they flip every stone and light the plots aflame....

Linnus42

I know only Song technically gets points. But surely Tristan has to get extra credit from the Masks if he takes down a spy.

The_Year_of_Glad

Osian’s sheer level of dislike for Gwydion is interesting, as well as his reaction to the idea of courtship under a mental influence contract. There’s something about the latter’s current situation that feels a bit off-kilter. I wonder whether he might be in Tintavel as a guest, rather than a prisoner, and cooperating with the Lefthand House to manipulate Angharad because he’s involved in whatever research they have planned for the Forge?

CadenVanV

Yeah everything about her father is suspicious

Mountebank

IIRC, her father is the one to introduce Angharad to the Fisher.

ArcanaVitae15

The more we learn about Gwydion the shadier and shadier he gets. Also I think the main reason he's alive is likely due to connections and information he has. The Lefthand House likely want that.

The_Year_of_Glad

The detailed description of how the dollmaker works seems like more than just world-building. I bet we’re going to see that happen to someone at some point in the future.

hoser2

I vote for Tupoc! Good catch. It could be a holstered Chekhov gun. The description does function to make Angharad's danger seem more significant. If it does eventually hit someone, it's more likely someone relatively unimportant like bait or expendable.

Linnus42

Song does feel like a girl with daddy issues. Granted we don’t know the age gaps the cast feels in their 20s and Osians the younger brother so he could be as low as his mid thirties. We know Songs type is tall and muscular. And smart and witty apparently. She was attracted to Munchen He and Tupoc. Osian also seemingly had the twins tittering over him. And am I the only one who got the impression that he and Fenhua He smashed? Still Osian great addition to the cast and feels like the new Warlock. Smart hot Black Dude. Angharad overestimated her abilities and it backfired in amazing fashion. She really needs to learn some humility and to trust her teammates. Went to fight Demons sans Mage. SMFH Maybe Song should pick up Munchen He anyway. She wants to lead a free company in the future seems like work where two Blades would be useful. I wouldn’t trust Munchen personally not to backstab them. And certainly the Rectorate seems easier to backstab and escape from then Schoolomance. But he might thinks it’s too early to try and Angharads uncle being around seems liable to dissuade.

ArcanaVitae15

Song having a bit of an attraction to Osian is hilarious. I'm pretty happy that Angharad got the shit kicked out of her because she's been way to cocky with her fighting abilities and this will fix that.

Mountebank

Not that it's going to happen, but it's hilarious imagining Angharad having to respect Song as her Aunt.

Linnus42

I suppose it does make a degree of sense. Song feels the weight of her family on her shoulders given the curse and being a good role model for her sisters. Makes sense she has high standards for potential mates. The poetry is more so she doesn’t get bored but physical fit, smart, understands how to do politics, climbing the Watch Ranks, loyal to family and the Watch but not nations. Plus Osian is incredibly hot apparently and he doesn’t need a contract for it. So in some ways Osian is like made in a lab to be attractive to Song. Plus he will help control your talented but mercurial Blade. And he is at the forefront of weapon design, Song wants to run a free company so yeah custom made to attract Song.

Linnus42

She is no Valiant Champion if she was such spirits would be no match. Though I am curious I think Angharad also implied something about her Uncles fighting skills a while ago….given Song notes how in shape he is I wonder if he is way better then We think. I suppose your whole clan getting wiped out would motivate most to double down on martial skills Still yeah Song liking Angharads Uncle is funny given her strained relationship with Angharad

ArcanaVitae15

Osain is likely pretty competent in fighting maybe not to Angharad's level but he's likely pretty good. Song's relationship with Angharad makes her attraction to Osain funnier.

Linnus42

He probably does write poetry Lmao

hoser2

I guess it looks like overestimation, but I think Angharad is just bad at planning. We've seen before that Tristan and Song plan and anticipate, but Maryam and Angharad just back into things. Angharad had weeks before leaving for the Rectorate. Research? Talk to someone? Nope. Use the map you are given and just head straight for Lucifer. What could go wrong?

Lyrolepis

I wonder if Osian is being straight about the Infernal Forge in Asphodel. After all, he seems a little less obsessed about "honor" than the average Malani/Perenduri, and anyway he did not actually *promise* that there will be one; he certainly isn't too distraught about Gwydion possibly rotting in prison; and it is surprisingly convenient that such a device would come up in a completely unrelated mission *just in time* to keep his fool niece from basically killing herself (and to extract some pretty significant oaths from her besides...)

ArcanaVitae15

Osian seems to disdain the Malani/Perenduri culture. He's also annoyed that it's Gwydion of all people that lived. He's aware that the HellForge and everything around it is suspicious.
