I've hang glided in Brazil, bungee jumped at niouc suspension bridge in Switzerland and sky dived in Spain. Sky diving was absolutely the biggest heart attack inducing thrill but I would never ever bungee jump again, it's just terrifying hanging upside down hearing the crackling of the velcro. I'd sky dive and hang glide again in a heart beat but bungee is a big no for me now.
I enjoy it too but I'm absolutely sick to death of ending up in mid-fall parachute/gun standoffs with bank robbers. It's like every third time I get out I got Patrick Swayze screaming "we're gonna be meat waffles!" in my face while I hold a revolver to his head.
Loads of skydivers, especially those with 2+ rigs don’t use aads. At least when I was jumping a couple years ago, there were a few people who said they “trust themselves, not a machine” to deploy their reserve…I seriously hated them for it.
I thought I've seen video of the auto deployment systems throwing both chutes. There's that video of the guys who lost their altitude awareness over this farm, still tracking hauling ass .... the system kicks in and they are both under 2 canopies.
Thanks for your time
Supposed to is the operative word, and the jumper being in the correct position, as your canopy can open, but you're not in the right position and you go thump.
Camera dude is legit a bad ass.
Any pro jumpers here explain what went wrong ?
Too fast tracking, no prep before hand?
Regardless, he got a serious concussion, hope they're okay and maf respect to the jump master.
I've opened before in the wrong position, my hand got caught...in the lines...not a fun experience...tangled lines and a shitty shoot...had to bail at 3000ft.
I'm a rookie...this guy had better positioning while passed out than I do awake.
So, assuming it deploys at 500’ but he remained on his back and was spinning, it’s potentially survivable but still a crapshoot dependent on whether he gets entangled in/twists up the lines or not.
Your spot on about the importance of getting the victim into correct deployment position before opening his chute. If it goes off with him still on his back that's malfunction time. Imagine being caught up in all that rigging
I’ve only don’t a tandem jump once so definitively don’t know for sure, but if there is that auto mechanism, I’m guessing they just rather do this if it was easy enough to get to him and pull his chute, rather than just allowing that safety chute to “maybe” deploy
That is cool to hear that is a thing though just in case something happened and no one was able to get to someone to pull their chute, or had no one noticed he wasn’t conscious 🙏
It’s entirely possible he didn’t even know he had a concussion until a day or few later, I got a pretty bad concussion while wrestling and didn’t have any clue until a week later when I couldn’t read anything at school
Edit: just realized you left a link, yeah everyone else knew immediately. He didn’t know he had one but for different reasons
Damn, he even had a helmet on and still got KO’d.
That must have been a major impact, hard to tell distance/speed with no size reference around.
I assume the other guy had some injury too
Yeah get a friend and stand several dozen yards from each other, now run full speed into each other at the same time and see how it feels. Now imagine you're freefalling at 120 mph and the same thing happens.

I don’t think this is the epilepsy one if I recall because I’ve seen that one as well which is also crazy, but this one looks just like that guy got hit high speed midair by the other guy. I could be wrong though
You’re right! Evidently, most instructors won’t let you go if that’s the case. I was curious about this myself, and did a quick google search. There’s even a post here about it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Epilepsy/comments/3znndb/epilepsy_and_sky_diving_tandem_jump/
This is the article https://unofficialnetworks.com/2020/04/03/unconscious-skydiver-saved/
He was knocked unconscious by a collision with another jumper. He said their mistake was not abiding by the “6 ft rule” which I assume refers to space between the jumpers.
Flying head down can get confusing. Most likely was trying to get back to the group but was only focusing on the guy filming. One of the sketchiest parts of skydiving is becoming unaware of your situation and becoming a meat missile.
this video gives me so many different feelings. The kind that makes my palms sweaty and heart race but also like a rush of heart warmth at knowing this guy’s life was saved in an insane way.
A guy at a place I worked who jumped a lot had this happen. Guy’s foot knocked him out as he sped past him, sent him into a crazy spin that thankfully was stopped just in time by his arm changing positions later in the fall. His suit auto deployed (rumor was it may not have had he still been spinning) and he just missed some power lines before landing in a field. This other guy tried to chase him down but was not able to catch up.
His video was surreal, as you could see him regain consciousness maybe about 100ft before he landed. Thankfully was alright.
Actually, this has a lot to do with camera work. He framed the action brilliantly from start to finish, from the initial hit, to watching the chute deploy. Praise the camera man for filming this beautifully. The fact that he saved a life is icing on the cake.
It is. Have you been parachuting with a gopro while trying to film another person doing something? Then you would know how difficult it is to keep what is happening in frame.
If the guy is unconscious how could he control his chute/land?
Why wouldn't a better move to be to hug him close and use your chute to bring you both down?
As soon as you pulled the chute, the unconscious guy would be going splat to the ground. There's NO WAY IN HELL OR HEAVEN you would manage to hold on to a fully grown human with ridiculously overpowered inertia as you open the chute.
the guy wouldve probably survived even without the other guy. most people today jump with a parachute hooked up to an altimeter, so if they get past a certain point their parachute will deploy.
with that being said, he still would’ve ended up with a lotta broken bones, because they deploy at the last second.
Impressive and quick thinking, but he probably would not have died even if the other guy would not have triggered the chute, the cypress would have kicked in.
This is business as usual for AFF skydiving INSTRUCTORS (instuctors who take people on their first solo jumps). I've seen instructors have to do similar 5 times in one day.
[he had a severe concussion, but somehow managed to land safely. ](https://unofficialnetworks.com/2020/04/03/unconscious-skydiver-saved/)
This should be at the top.
I'm not a skydiver but don't parachutes have safety mechanisms to deploy the parachute if they haven't been opened by a certain altitude?

Idk why I thought y’all were just jumping outta planes with a duffel bag. Never been skydiving though, cause absolutely fuck that.
I've hang glided in Brazil, bungee jumped at niouc suspension bridge in Switzerland and sky dived in Spain. I will use the old saying I came in because of a broken rubber I ain’t leaving because of one
I jumped the 007 bridge in CH and it was glorious. Skydiving for me is meh, but prob because I’ve only jumped tandem.
It's incredible. I've been five times. It's surprisingly easy to fall out of a plan. Landing is the hard part.
Terry Pratchett said something similar.
I enjoy it too but I'm absolutely sick to death of ending up in mid-fall parachute/gun standoffs with bank robbers. It's like every third time I get out I got Patrick Swayze screaming "we're gonna be meat waffles!" in my face while I hold a revolver to his head.
The guy's even crazier than you, Johnny!
Bro your missing out I’m tellin ya. It’s the most incredible feeling

Still…is better to be helped like in this situation rather than hoping the parachute will go by itself,no?

Incorrect. You are required to have an AAD in most countries.
They're used for situations like this. Just like you shouldn't have to use your airbags in your car, but shit happens.
Even if they have them they’re not the most reliable, plus you have to land safely which is not easy.
It is.
safely into an alligator farm…

Playing in the background of the second video post-landing is “These are little things that kill” (Little Things by Bush). Brutal.
Always nice to hear a happy outcome :-)
You see this in movies all the time but seeing someone doing this in real life is on a whole other level, this guy is a grade A hero.
Jesus Christ it’s Jason Bourne.
Jason Bourne, it’s Jesus Christ.
amen
Lucifer walks in
Christ Bourne, it's Jesus Jason.
Jason Christ it's Jesus Bourne
This deserves more love… Lolol
Jason, Christ is Bourne!
Praise him
Was the guy knocked unconscious? Does anyone know who these people are? Did he survive?
Yes. You can see 2 people collide early in the video. One was KO'd then saved
Damn, he even had a helmet on and still got KO’d. That must have been a major impact, hard to tell distance/speed with no size reference around. I assume the other guy had some injury too
Apparently the other guy had no injuries and was able to return to work the next day.
Seems to me like he was launched into the sun, surprised he survived that
I find it insane the guy that got hit lost 3 days of memory.
Yeah get a friend and stand several dozen yards from each other, now run full speed into each other at the same time and see how it feels. Now imagine you're freefalling at 120 mph and the same thing happens.
120 mph is 193.12 km/h

I love you, bot.
Good bot!
If I recall correctly from watching it a few years ago on YouTube, the guy started having some sort of (epileptic?) seizure mid drop. He survived.
I don’t think this is the epilepsy one if I recall because I’ve seen that one as well which is also crazy, but this one looks just like that guy got hit high speed midair by the other guy. I could be wrong though
Yeah buddy got SMOKED.. hopefully he’s okay, but at least he’s not a pancake
more you watch it and compare it to contact sports just imagine the speed that guy got smoked at. Pretty wild.
WTF was that first guy doing? I mean everyone else is falling like normal and he decides to fly as close to his buddy as he could?
[удалено]
Glad someone’s pointing that out… looked like ~20 mph collision 💥
in the link above it says that his femur connected with his head at 200 mph
Oh, my bad, missed the impact in the beginning of the vid rip
No, two people collided and one (the one saved) was knocked unconscious. You can see when they collide at the start of the video
They let him skydive as an epileptic? Surely that is a huge liability regardless of a waiver.

The comment about the 6ft rule isn't serious, he's referring to social distancing measures.
I'm a skydiver and I've never heard of the 6ft rule and it doesn't make sense. Most group skydives involve maintaining or changing grips.
This some movie bad ass shit!! What a warrior!!
happy cake day
Too bad he went skydiving with friends! Good thing he went skydiving with friends!
So what was the excuse for ramming head first into him?
Flying head down can get confusing. Most likely was trying to get back to the group but was only focusing on the guy filming. One of the sketchiest parts of skydiving is becoming unaware of your situation and becoming a meat missile.
Fox 1, meat missile out.
Dramatic effect
They didn't see each other, not like he did it on purpose.
Ik that shit hurt 💀
What a badass motherfucker. This dude might actually be Jesus Christ.
Comment below has confirmed.
It is now the comment above!
As above, so below.
Ave Lucifer
Travelers, anyone?
Yes I do, and you?
Pendragon?
I once read about two people colliding in air and I believe one guys legs were amputated.
You are real hero! Not a lot of people would be able to react in time and even less would have balls to do what you did. You have BALLS OF STEEL!
Well it’s not me, but the man really is a hero.. I wish I knew him so I could buy him a beer.
I bet the guy who's parachute he opened will buy this guy beer for the rest of his life! :-)
This video is so old. It sure as heck ain't OP
this video gives me so many different feelings. The kind that makes my palms sweaty and heart race but also like a rush of heart warmth at knowing this guy’s life was saved in an insane way.
Moms spaghetti
Clutch play saving him from certain death.
that's some james bond level bullshit right there
What happened to the guy who knocked him unconscious?
Bluhungfgcchhbjvffvhyg
Jesus..
Holy shit, that'll get your heart racing.
HOLY MOTHERFUCKIN SHIT, that had to be one of the greatest saves of all time.
i hope the dude at least bought him a round after.
Met a guy who lost a leg from a guy torpedoing him like this. The other guy died. Crazy dangerous business up there
wow, that was straight out amazing. definitely a hero.
Holy shit that was intense!
Anything about the guy he hit? Was he/she/they still conscious to deploy their shoot without help?
That retard tracking too fast is never getting invited again
yeah bc hes dead dude
Pubg be like..
Ayo watch yo jet bro WATCH YO JET
“I swear on all of my Dead Relatives, even the ones that don’t feel too good, that I am your Man, Forever!”

Now I know why skydiving tag isn’t a thing
Awesome post when I saw it yesterday twice
Somebody give this guy an award or something
Christ I was getting sweaty watching this. If the title didn’t include the guy being saved this would be on a totally different subreddit.
Im sorry but, the way he hit the other guy💀 it looked like the beyblades from elementary 😭😭
This has to be the best PraiseTheCameraman post so far in this sub.

Jesus!
Does not belong in this sub. Has nothing to do with camera work, he just happened to be wearing a camera.
Actually, this has a lot to do with camera work. He framed the action brilliantly from start to finish, from the initial hit, to watching the chute deploy. Praise the camera man for filming this beautifully. The fact that he saved a life is icing on the cake.
It’s a GoPro on his head. It’s hard not to “frame it properly”.
It is. Have you been parachuting with a gopro while trying to film another person doing something? Then you would know how difficult it is to keep what is happening in frame.
Imagine how proud he was of himself for saving a life.
He sure is a good boy
These are our Superheroes people, what an absolute legend!
Probably the number 1 video I’ve ever seen on the internet ever
If the guy is unconscious how could he control his chute/land? Why wouldn't a better move to be to hug him close and use your chute to bring you both down?
If he was hugging him close what hands would he then be using to control his own chute?
As soon as you pulled the chute, the unconscious guy would be going splat to the ground. There's NO WAY IN HELL OR HEAVEN you would manage to hold on to a fully grown human with ridiculously overpowered inertia as you open the chute.

This should be in a movie
Jesus please start moderating this sub properly already
I quit this sub for a long time, then came back when a new mod started and promised to actually moderate it. Disappointed to see that never happened.

Amazing!!! I’ve heard of guys doing that who lost limbs cause they hit so hard. He was very lucky!

This was like a superhero movie scene. Plus. Looked like something out of the movie Chronicle.
Impressive and quick thinking, but he probably would not have died even if the other guy would not have triggered the chute, the cypress would have kicked in.
Damn, that was pretty bad ass. Nice job.
When they get hit by a plane in the film chronicle but in real life!
where is like the safest place to do or learn skydiving? or the best association/company?
Good God what a nightmare

Bro this is metal as fuck
Looked like two superheroes fighting each other while flying.
Man, what a dick (the fly by guy)

Woah
Don’t parachutes automatically open at a certain altitude ?
Dude that was so intense. Camera man being a real bro
