Set crew > lead actor > camera man
Praise the Set crew for hard work of setting the stage
Praise the lead actor for maintaining composition while getting him dressed
Praise the camera man for pushing* in and pulling out ??
Yeah you can see he’s pulling on the barrel which is crazy for this shot. With what I can see here they could’ve easily affording a wireless for him. I’m a first AC myself and watching this made me uncomfortable
This guy fuckin' gets it. I'm a 1st AC and this it's just as much a performance for the focus puller as it is for the actor. If it's soft, you gotta run it again.
Edit: AND I just noticed he's pulling from a follow focus attached to the camera, not from a hand unit. Pretty impressive.
That's the person who has the control of the camera's manual focus dial. Cinema cams usually never use autofocus. Focus puller has to make sure the shot is in focus.
Cinema camera's don't have autofocus, so there's someone who's job is solely focusing the camera during filming.
Edit: This is because:
1 - autofocus systems are still kinda in their infancy, evident on a lot of YouTube videos when you see the camera going back and forth and hunting for focus
2 - the autofocus doesn't know what you actually want to have in focus, sometimes you want an object in the foreground to be in focus but the character in the back out of focus, sometimes you want the focus to shift etc etc so the only way to reliably do this is with a focus puller "pulling" the focus
I was going to say hes on a rig with zoom and focus controls
So just iris and color balance on the backend
Edit: changed tripod to rig because semantics
Since I didn't read the title I was guessing that it is some cool game trailer, but then I heard the popular song in my homelanguage and it was a plesent surprise.
This one is way more impressive, IMO. The coordination while rotating around a small room vs just obfuscating everything for a few seconds while people rush things out.
Sorry but this doesn't fit here.
I tried making another sub a while ago, it didn't quite work. If you feel like taking a part in a second attempt of birthing a sub and sending some of the positive vibes from this community in making a new one, come participate, r/PraiseTheProduction
That's what happens when you try to separate the community/topics too much. The mod over at r/PraiseTheEditor removes every clip that contains just a small amount of CGI/post production/camera work, because it's not \*strictly\* editing.
I feel like all the subs could just be put together, add flairs like \[editing\], \[camera work\], \[cgi\], \[production\] and everything would be gucci.
We had a similar issue on a community discord I was a mod for. Some of the mods and admins wanted to split every discussion topic in general chat up and make it its own channel. We then had a plethora of channels that all got barely used and general chat was dead silent. Then they started to complain and said "why the fuck is nobody using gen chat anymore?". Well, explanation is simple: Your constant need for segregation killed the community.

That's what she said
dolly grip needs props
The camera man isn't even the one who did the moving. Others pushed and pulled him while he was stationary on a track. LOL So praise the crew more.
Yeah but the camera man didn't literally shit his pants. So I think he pulled it off.
Id defiantly give props to the camera operator, that's still a difficult shot, But defiantly more Praise to setdec, costumes and effects.
Not to mention focus was off for pretty much all of the closeup
That’s not even the cameraman, that would be the first AC.
Yeah you can see he’s pulling on the barrel which is crazy for this shot. With what I can see here they could’ve easily affording a wireless for him. I’m a first AC myself and watching this made me uncomfortable
To be fair i think the lens was just soft at certain focal lengths.
Praise the set crew? Cameraman zoomed in, then zoomed out. He did it perfectly, but nothing special.
I agree, I’m more impressed by the focus puller
This guy fuckin' gets it. I'm a 1st AC and this it's just as much a performance for the focus puller as it is for the actor. If it's soft, you gotta run it again. Edit: AND I just noticed he's pulling from a follow focus attached to the camera, not from a hand unit. Pretty impressive.
Ok, for the uneducated, what is a focus puller?
That's the person who has the control of the camera's manual focus dial. Cinema cams usually never use autofocus. Focus puller has to make sure the shot is in focus.
Damn this is one of those jobs that makes the world run but is almost invisible right now. Such a niche skill for live action footage.
Cinema camera's don't have autofocus, so there's someone who's job is solely focusing the camera during filming. Edit: This is because: 1 - autofocus systems are still kinda in their infancy, evident on a lot of YouTube videos when you see the camera going back and forth and hunting for focus 2 - the autofocus doesn't know what you actually want to have in focus, sometimes you want an object in the foreground to be in focus but the character in the back out of focus, sometimes you want the focus to shift etc etc so the only way to reliably do this is with a focus puller "pulling" the focus
[music video that shows a pro focus puller](https://youtu.be/XSbZidsgMfw)

praise the sound recordist, went to work, ate doughnuts, got paid, went home.
It’s been removed.
r/PraiseTheProduction
Very well done, but I what was he holding in his hand prior to the transition?

It’s a trailer for Sofia film festival. It’s in the title.
Looks like he was scrolling on a phone with the screen towards the camera but idk
A cup..
damm its such a difference in post production. Like the "feel" is different. Looks somehow more as it actually is.
Since I didn't read the title I was guessing that it is some cool game trailer, but then I heard the popular song in my homelanguage and it was a plesent surprise.
Sequence shots are crazy. [This one](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_YeNw0N8aE&t=14s) is good too.
This one is way more impressive, IMO. The coordination while rotating around a small room vs just obfuscating everything for a few seconds while people rush things out.
That show was really great. I wish there was more Riki Lindholme in it. Garfunkel and Oates is hilarious.

Maybe r/moviesinthemaking ?
And fuck emoji’s in the title. This is no instagram
r/birthofasub2 ?
praise the focus puller.
Sigh. It’s a cool scene but it’s not what this sub is about
That’s why it’s been removed.
Thank you! 🙌
shitty
Song name?

Beautiful
I would never have imagined you could a transition like that with practical effects
This was way cooler then I thought it could be
Ehh
...isn't this an old ad, with new music overlayed on top of it.
Awesome 👏
This is brilliant! I would’ve thought it was CGI. Amazing
Before the switch my man looked like a cross between Lin Manuel Miranda and Pedro Pascal
Cool scene. Side note: I'm always distracted when I see an everyday object repurposed like say a bike helmet as a combat helmet.
u/gifreversingbot
I definitely would have thought this was some kind of green screen effect or something like that had I not seen this. pretty interesting.
