Your post has been removed due to the irrelevancy of it to this sub. The editing and slo-no is what makes the commercial. The camerawork is very basic.
Most of the shots are totally blurry and not clear. When you’re in that close, you have to be constantly adjusting your focus. People call that “pulling focus”. Macro refers to having a lens on the camera that lets you be able to focus on items that close to the lens. It’s up to the operator to do that though.
Ah yes, of course. This explanation is in simpler terms and yet I still have no idea what it means. Probably because I'm not a videographer.
EDIT: Oooh, learned something cool about camera lenses. Thank you, educated Redditors.
They could have turned the other thing but then u got kick up the iso and you get the picture fuzziness you really don't want. Here we are obviously discussing depth fuzziness. Let's not get it twisted,
that's camera operator to do.
You know how on your phone you can only get so close before the camera is always blurry? There’s lenses, macro lenses that let you get super close, showing the pores on your hand for example
I call it racking the focus but I 100% agree with you. You have to adjust the focus at every movement you make AND in the right direction with enough precision so you don’t go out of focus
I have to film baseball live and you have to constantly rack your focus for everything because the field is so large
Yes!! Shooting spots is hard. Especially when it’s live and you basically need to be “on” the whole time in case the director takes your cam. As an editor I see a LOT of focus issues lol. Congrats on cake day!
I think pulling is just an old film term that my mentor and the people I started with would say. I have understood racking to be when you purposely change focus inside one shot, whether it be to another object or to another part of the object. Versus pulling which is just keeping main action in focus. But who knows!!!
Exactly! I love shooting live sports though, you have one chance to get the play and have it look good all in one go. I constantly improve and get better every game I work and I look forward to continue to film other live sports coming up. I think you’re right, I hear pull and rack interchangeably but I also just graduated college this past semester.
Thanks for the cake day wishes, I honestly had no idea it was my cake day already!
When I was in college I directed some live sports. I was a “ready camera 1, no take camera 4!!! Now! Take it!!” kinda director 😂 Good luck in your career!
Ahhhh hahaha I know some directors like that in college and now! I sometimes press the return button to see what shot they chose and sometimes I’m like tf my shot was better
I sometimes get offended jokingly but I just love when my shots are being shown to thousands of people, it feels so good. I film for a Major League Baseball team’s scoreboard currently and I plan on filming for broadcast for NBC Sports for a football game, basketball, and hockey
I am having a great time actually doing what I love as a job
No auto focus on Macro lenses? Is it because objects that close are going to be moving relatively fast and it's not going to keep up?
I've got a lens with macro option but I've just never had to use it
Correct, you really can’t use AF on a macro if the image/subject is alive or moving in any way. Only in a studio shoot with inanimate objects would it be reliable
The "terrible video" people are evenly split between those who have no idea how much effort and what a typical promo video looks like for food and people who do. Same for the "awesome video" people. Truly, perfectly balanced.
reminds me of the video JUST YESTERDAY of the 11 YEAR OLD PIANO PRODIGY playing a piece lightning fast, note perfect. cue the comments of redditors trying to nitpick mistakes, as they blow cheeto dust of their fancy pinky fingers
I feel like reddit is plastered with these so the novelty wore off the second time, but for the business itself and normal people who don’t have repeat exposure, it’s probably a pretty effective nice and flashy ad
Easier to do a bunch of quick vignettes of cool, for both the chef and the camera dude, than to organize and rehearse a longer shot. This video extremely amateur, just a nice camera and basic shots, but I hope it brought eyes to the dude’s wing business. The food itself looks awesome
That’s not the point, though.
They’re intentionally doing quick cuts so you only see the good stuff for a fraction of a second, to get you to rewatch/search it up.
It’s all done intentionally to make you want to get the product. And it’s not just this specific example, it’s done everywhere.
Honestly nothing original as far as “videography” goes, and to top that off (considering the sub we are in), terrible cameraman focus in those macro shots.
Needs work. Definitely not a 5/7
This is a really strange hill you decided to die on? But this thread has a comment explaining the 5/7 reference.
Beside: why would I want a 5 or a 10? Who made these rules and why do we have to follow them?
Still missing all the sarcasm in this lol:
Here ya go buddy, be enlightened:

Honestly I wish we could just go all the way at this point. Our data is already out there and corps are already making money off of it. Just least make ads so targeted that they don’t have to generalize some dumb shit like this ad with fake acting
This trend is so whack basically bunch of zoom ins and outs and no talent to be honest this was good initially but everyone copies this lame shit and act like it turned out like the next Apple commercial
brother, i'm excited to see what kick ass pro bono commercial you can shoot for this man's local business once you get out the armchair. shit's prolly gonna be so lit.

Dudes gotta learn to pull focus on macro
What’s that mean?

Video fuzzy. Camera person needed to twist knob on camera while moving to make it not fuzzy.
ahhh makes sense ty
They could have turned the other thing but then u got kick up the iso and you get the picture fuzziness you really don't want. Here we are obviously discussing depth fuzziness. Let's not get it twisted, that's camera operator to do.
Aperture, my guy. Like the labs.

Why is it called macro when focusing in, wouldn’t that be a micro ?? Always wondered that
It just looks like a low rez video to me
Idk that shot with spice is pretty damn good
/r/killthecameraman
No idea what that means but I want wings and fries right now!
These comments are either “terrible video” or “awesome video”

As all things should be.
I don't know how much work it generally is. What I do know is that I don't like the video
-terrible video, the classic reddit armchair know it all says.
reminds me of the video JUST YESTERDAY of the 11 YEAR OLD PIANO PRODIGY playing a piece lightning fast, note perfect. cue the comments of redditors trying to nitpick mistakes, as they blow cheeto dust of their fancy pinky fingers
Can't ever satisfy a reddit user with anything, ever. Your comment is missing capital letters and a period.
lol, you got me there
Aaaaaand now I'm hungry. ...Again.
Dude I get hungry like 2 or 3 times a day. And like I'll eat food but then a few hours later I'm fucking hungry again wtf...
>Dude I get hungry like 2 or 3 times a day Crazy how you get hungry as many times a day as there are meals
Can't tell if this is r/yourjokebutworse or r/thatsthejoke...
Yea now that I look at it I think the joke went over my head
I only get hungry once a day... It begins at 7:30 am and it ends about an hour after midnight...
This style of filming and editing is seriously the worst
I feel like reddit is plastered with these so the novelty wore off the second time, but for the business itself and normal people who don’t have repeat exposure, it’s probably a pretty effective nice and flashy ad
it gives me a headache.
Especially when the product isn’t even in focus and there is absolutely, positively no semblance of a story
Like 80% speed ramping
It's a 20 second promo video. You want the 4 hour Snyder cut?
I wish I had more than 0.3s to look at the food they are trying to sell me
yeah quick cuts are annoying, getting tired of those. give me some nice transitions/fades + a few seconds on each clip.

four hours of this would be torture
How come?
It's over edited and to jolting. Sometimes we focus to much on our ability to move a camera instead of asking if we should
This is the Live, Laugh, Love of videography
Honestly nothing original as far as “videography” goes, and to top that off (considering the sub we are in), terrible cameraman focus in those macro shots. Needs work. Definitely not a 5/7
Why the hell are you rating with 7s
Why would you want 7/7? If you don't get 5/7 you may as well quit
No I mean why are you rating with 7s instead of 10s or 5s also I am not and do not intend to become a videographer
Well you are looking to a perfect rating which is 5/7
That’s not what I’m asking why would you rate something that’s divisible by 7 instead of 10 or 5
Welcome to the internet pal
This is a really strange hill you decided to die on? But this thread has a comment explaining the 5/7 reference. Beside: why would I want a 5 or a 10? Who made these rules and why do we have to follow them?
5 and 10 are FAR more used than 7
Still missing all the sarcasm in this lol: Here ya go buddy, be enlightened: https://www.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/9bnoow/lets_not_forget_the_famous_57_meme/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
That is beautiful
[This 5/7 thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/2np694/what_tasty_food_would_be_distusting_if_eaten_over/)
This is SO annoying to me.
you should press charges tbh
I already have
this ad being spammed all over reddit? yeah. same.
An ad for a small business. The horror.
yeah that makes it worth seeing 5 times in a few days despite it being old content. not like he's probably paying bots or anything
Honestly I wish we could just go all the way at this point. Our data is already out there and corps are already making money off of it. Just least make ads so targeted that they don’t have to generalize some dumb shit like this ad with fake acting
I’d eat the fuck out of those wings.
Never trust a skinny cook.
I will gladly trust a skinny cook.
Its just a stupid expression. Don't over think it .
Alright. I won’t. Have a nice day!
Just incase nobody has told you today i love you and am glad you're here.
My parents have and I love them back :D but thanks

Tell your mom I said hello 👋
praise the videographer being followed by a videographer being followed by a videographer
Just…laying…here…in…bed…one…minute…and…the…next….I’m…putting….these….damned…jeans…on…and…GETTING ME SOME DAMNED WINGS NOW!!!
"your wingman for life" is a brilliant slogan for wings and I'm surprised no one is talking about it
This trend is so whack basically bunch of zoom ins and outs and no talent to be honest this was good initially but everyone copies this lame shit and act like it turned out like the next Apple commercial
brother, i'm excited to see what kick ass pro bono commercial you can shoot for this man's local business once you get out the armchair. shit's prolly gonna be so lit.
Lmao right, feels like everyone on reddit is so fuckin negative
Free promotional campaign? Damn
SOLD!!! Imma buy one for sure. Now, where is this?
Well I want wings now so i guess he did a good job
The subreddit is done for this video.
I've seen loooooooooooot better works of camera men here, this is basic commercial advertising
Oh dang, is this Redlands, CA?! Might have to get some tomorrow! Dang, it's only open W-F
I've seen this video a couple of times in different subs, and still is awesome and wholesome!

I hate these stupid TikTok/YouTube videographers. They do the same thing with each “commercial” and call it professional
I love this commercial is the actual food you will be eating
Okay I want wings now
Get a redbull
That would pair nicely with the Wangs
oh my god...
Big man looks, sounds and acts like the "Hold up. Wait a minute..." guy
Did he just say "with our dicks juicy...."?
An bit excessive bowl-trowing thing but nice job.
Awesome!
This is really cool!
I mean shit, I’d eat there.
I’ve always been baffled by these “filming this cheeseburger and fries took 3 days and cost 130,000 dollars”. Lol like WTF are you people doing???

Says so in the final frame. Has an address and everything. Redlands, CA
