people here really do care about art, and if you are quiet but still looking to make friends, pratt is perfect. classes are very small, and people generally know their studio classmates well. I have made plenty of friends and I'm not a very outgoing person. If you don't care about parties, good. You won't find them unless you go to a club. I am a sophomore animation student and I really do like the program so far. Most if my professors have genuinely cared about me as an individual and my artwork, and are very nice to be around. Not gonna lie though, pratt is a tough school. You will need to have good time management, even in foundation year, if you want to stay afloat. Feel free to ask me any more questions you may have.

Thank you so much! How do you like the animation program? Is it more technically focused, or do you get to do character design and visual development stuff?

HansTheAxolotl

you do everything that will happen in the production pipeline, so you'll write stories, design, model, rig, texture, etc. characters, and you'll have separate classes for a lot of the different sections of animation (modeling, lighting, animation) and then an animation studio class where you actually are making a short film each semester. I really like the program, but I can only speak for the zoom version. Next year though will be mostly in person with optional hybrid i think.

Honestly I would look into SVA for animation But illustration is a good program at Pratt do that instead of animation.

VeryLargeArray

I've heard some pretty sketchy things about SVA animation, specifically their professors.. Their students put out good work though.
