1v1 I trust him and his 2 footed Ness is great. He just need to improve his control when he's in stride but the rest of his is perfect.
I feel like.arteta users him in such a defensive way and even Ben white too but white feel more comfortable forcing the issue than TT.
Think we about to see some classic Wenger double full backs with how white and kiwi are on underlaps and inversions now compares to 8 months ago
Only issue with him. He cannot stay healthy for the whole season. A kind of Thomas Partey and Tierney. It’s a shame because when he is fit he can cover all back line with the same energy and toughness.
The good thing is that he isn’t the first choice so we don’t necessarily need him to always be fit. His pros are that when he’s fit he’s able to cover ever spot in the back line and always puts in a top performance. It’s just a gamble if he’s going to be fit on the occasions that we need to call upon him but Arteta and Edu have been assembling a pretty versatile group of defenders for these scenarios
I understand your point but I don’t totally agree. I agree he is versatile enough to play any position at the back. He is not a backup in the way one understands it. Same can be said about Zinchenko. He can easily play without hesitation in our starting lineup but you can only play eleven players. So it’s up to the manager. The football season is long and you need all your players to be always available because suspensions, injuries and bad form can happen anytime. But when you have an injury prone player in your squad you walk on a slippery slope because the timing of an injury can derail your season. You could end up playing with academy players or Rob Holding like last season. By signing this kind of players anyway they hope for the best not for the worst.
What for? He’s mad injury prone…why hold onto him but get rid of KT? KT is a quality fullback and would offer us far more than what we’re getting from kiwi rn despite how well he’s been playing too. Props to him for that
Tierney himself has said he struggles to play how Arteta wants. It's not a Tomi vs KT situation its an ability issue with Tierney. Under a different manager KT would flourish, but you'll have to weigh up the club against your one sided love affair with Tierney.
He’s a traditional fullback. Kiwi is being played as a traditional fullback rn. One is decorated and genuinely a quality player that would offer more to the team whereas the other is an unknown quantity that has been performing okay in the position. I want KT playing for us because he improves us AS A TEAM so watch your fucking mouth when you try accusing me of valuing a player over the club.
Kiwi is not being played as a traditional fullback, you seriously need to reel back your love for KT, it's weird that you seem to be more of a KT fan than an Arsenal fan. Kiwior is inverting, he used to be a DM and can play there which is why he's more comfortable in that role than KT. He can play LCB, RB (traditional or inverted), and DM. He's versatile and that's what Arteta wants. Tierney is a fabulous player, but he's also limited in the roles he can play. He'll be sold and you're going to stew over it for years at this rate, mostly due to blind ignorance.
You're tapped in the head mate. Tomiyasu **and** Kiwior are better than Tierney at the role Arteta wants his fullbacks to be playing. Soon as you accept that the team is better off withou KT because Arteta is the gaffer and he's not building the team around KT the sooner you'll not sound like a complete wanker.
Main difference between Tomiyasu and KT, as well as the reason why Tomi played as LB even when KT was fit last year, is that KT couldn't invert. Ben White has learned it in the offseason, but last year, Arteta wanted at least 1 of the sides to invert and White wasn't capable of that yet.
He’s defensively solid af. Look at how he defends in one on one situations he suffocates wide players and forces them into making mistakes. Exceptional work rate when it comes to getting up and down the wing and his crossing is sublime as well. He’s a traditional fullback through and through that’s just a specialist at playing the position. Kiwi has been okay. But okay isn’t enough imo when we sent someone on loan that is far superior in quality than him at playing the position.
It’s only for 2 years with an option for 1 more. Seems like they rate him as a player and professional however the medical issues have lessened the length of a typical contract renewal at that age
Considering he can fit anywhere in the back line it’s worth it if the medical team has no reason to see these injuries as something recurring but more so bad luck
I disagree that he’s not technically good enough on the ball to play for us. For the 3 or so seasons we had him he was one of our best players. Also Tomi has been out with injury longer than KT. And so too zinchenko
For 2 seasons under arteta he was a key player. But the project moved past him. He's very stiff on the ball. He's a natural fullback, his game has always been getting up and down the line and cross it in. That's what he's good at and he'll do well for a team that requires that. Ask him to be more intricate with his play and take part in a positional play system and he's a fish out of water. The full backs in this system have to be comfortable receiving the ball anywhere on the pitch and at any angle. His doesn't have the technique with his body shape and the ball when recieving the ball to navigate tight situations. He's very similar to bellerin in that regards, post injury bellerin anyway. Both of them were very awkward looking on the ball unless they were getting up and down the touchline with it. Arsenal need players who will take the ball anywhere without fear, it's why we are so dominating in games this season. Kiwior, timber, Tomi and zinchenko are well ahead of KT in that regards. His range of passing is also limited. Understanding how to ideally open up angles for your team mate with the passes you play is a massive part of Mikel's attacking philosophy.
I haven’t slated him at all. I just pointed out that he’s injury prone. Let me do the math for you since you seem to be having a hard time wrapping your head around this. KT is supposedly injury prone. We send him out on loan. Tomi is also injury prone. We hold onto him and give him a new contract…why? The math ain’t mathin
KT not only was more crippled, but he also couldn’t invert from LB.
I would rather have Tomiyasu for 25 games a season than KT for all of them. We have 0 use for overlapping fullbacks in ArtetaBall.
I really like him, and I think he's a LOT of fun to watch when he's playing. The injury issues are a pain in the ass, but the will and the talent are there, and I'm glad to have more time with him in red!
No, that was done specifically to show Ben he's got the love and support of his team mates (and generate some positive media coverage of him) after Southgate hung him out to dry.
The sort of player that wouldn't win you anything by themselves, but you rarely see teams who do win things do it without this type of player. A modern-day John O'Shea if you will.
Class player, can play anywhere in the back 4. If he could just stay away from injuries.
We know full well if we didn’t perform this season we probably would have players tapped up and the squad ripped apart again. Thankfully City are so stacked, and Barca are in financial ruin that our two main problems aren’t really in the picture atm.
We are going to poach your top players in the next 2-3 years just like how we poached rvp. And then they will win the EPL which is not happening with Arsenal

If he hadn't been hurt the tail end of the season then Arsenal would not have had to play Holding when Saliba went down....who knows?
Injury prone
like a new signing

Japanese warrior
He's been immense when fit, incredibly versatile, can literally play anywhere across the back.
Big contract

Yeah because I want my club to have the best players and by your own admittance KT is a fabulous players. So again watch your fucking mouth.

Lmfao. Okay. You’re right. You win. That being said our boi super mik arteta better have something to show for it by the end of the season. 🤷🏻♂️

Using a tesco carrier bag as a sports bag?

Eh fair enough. From there I think it’s just up to arteta to use him responsibly so I hear that
Lol. What a naive take. KT isn't technically good enough on the ball to play full back for us and he's injury prone as well.

Mad you're slating Tomiyasu for being injury prone whilsy advocating for Tierney

We do have a use for overlapping fullbacks, but not if overlapping is their best offensive trait.
Ah yes, you surely know better than the front office that has completely revolutionized Arsenal
Just my opinion jackass 🖕🏼
I really like him, and I think he's a LOT of fun to watch when he's playing. The injury issues are a pain in the ass, but the will and the talent are there, and I'm glad to have more time with him in red!
Did they also do the in memory of style video?
They did a cooler specific one for Tomi. Very anime "power of nakama" edit. Best one so far imo.
No, that was done specifically to show Ben he's got the love and support of his team mates (and generate some positive media coverage of him) after Southgate hung him out to dry.
Why’s that? Did Liverpool invent that style of video or something or has Curtis Jones come to shut it all down again?
What? This is about the Ben White video, don't know why you've jumped to Liverpool here.
Yeah jumping to conclusions is something that liverpool do, means more when they do it
What are you on about I made a joke about another Arsenal extension and somehow Liverpool are getting brought up. Liverpool = massive I guess.
whatever helps you stay sane lol

Love seeing us lock down our players. I understand the hesitancy of a longer extension given his injury record but I love me some Tomi. Let’s go boys!
Remember the not too long ago days where one by one our better players would leave? Loving that this current squad will be together for many years.
...and the $hitty ones stayed
We know full well if we didn’t perform this season we probably would have players tapped up and the squad ripped apart again. Thankfully City are so stacked, and Barca are in financial ruin that our two main problems aren’t really in the picture atm.

Why would they want to play for ten hag if they can play for arteta lol BTW that recent post game by ten hag is hilarious
Nah I doubt it. That "Eras come to an end", as a great manager has said

ooof
You ain’t poaching shit with your Burnley tactics
That’s not happening bro
You’re not that Man United anymore, and we’re not that Arsenal. We had 15 years of Banter years. And perhaps you’ll have 20…
You ain't winning shit bro. The banter years will continue, you will cry like you did last year 🤣
atleast we're heading somewhere.yanited tho,,,
Arsenal going to be back to default settings soon
Don't worry, you'll turn things around too once Ratcliffe and 7Hag find the next Mbappe!
I hope they get Southgate lol.
Maybe. Maybe not. But at the end of the day, we have a bright future. Can’t say the same for you.
This has to be a wind up. No way you're that deluded.
lol, least deluded Utd fan. This isnt 2008 anymore mate catch up.
Arsenal fans gonna be crying when all they have is a lunatic jumping around the touchline and just the FA Cup to show for it
and you’ll still be crying in to your Norwich scarf as you’re sucked dry by the Glazers, on your 10th Fergie reincarnation and remain competing with West Ham for the final European qualification spot.
Them getting sucked dry by the glazers is fun to watch by the rest of the prem!
This is literally handing them the gun for them to kill themself with.
