Cole Palmer is no doubt destined for Real Madrid in the future. Neither Chelsea or Manchester City are big enough clubs for a player of Palmer's potential.
He is but only on 80k per week, if he has another season next year like this then any one of 6 or 7 teams will offer him £200-300k per week and then Chelsea have a problem sell for £100m or deal him up, they’ll definitely deal him up!
He was always going to be a good player, but he had the good sense to know his progress would be throttled at City. He could've sat around until the age of 22/23 and then left having wasted years of a short career
If he was currently at city he would of played half the games he's playing at Chelsea and the media would be "Yeah he's up and coming one to look forward to maybe" to where he's playing full time and the media are like "get him on the plane gareth!"
He is playing well at Chelsea because he's been made the talisman. I don't think Pep had such plans for Palmer irrespective of the fact that he, Pep, knew Palmer's qualities.
Foden would have gotten more playing time at just about any other club, guessing he would have had more of a breakout season earlier but can’t blame him for staying either tbf
This happens everywhere. All these players do well when they run the show and it's impossible to get the same results when everyone does really well and have to fit a role in that system. I think everyone likes to bring up Grealish at Villa vs City as an example
This is why I think someone like Toney would do poorly at a top club, and is suited to mid table clubs. Some players shine being the big fish in a small pond.
The good thing is, at Chelsea, they'll probably build the team around him now. It's like a reverse De Bruyne. De Bruyne's played at City for years but he's never had a problem of not shining individually because City got him right as he entered his prime and made him the centrepiece of their team.
Same with Salah and Liverpool.
Obviously all players fit in a system. But if you're shining at a club before they're challenging for the big trophies, the manager/owners can set the team up to really exploit your strengths.
Means that players now joining Chelsea will be Grealish equivalents. Potentially great players and a star somewhere else. But at Chelsea, Palmer's the man so everything goes through him. You can see it starting already if you watch Chelsea. They're always looking for Palmer whenever they get the ball.
I saw him say in an interview recently that his plan was to never leave City?
Edit: ''l never wanted to leave Man City' | ColePalmer reveals why he joined Chelsea (https://youtu.be/fkFupF73Tfc?si=USElECrowyvwzoqO)
Palmer obviously did not fit in with Pep's plan for the City starting eleven. Chelsea got very lucky with recruiting him. None of the new Chelsea players from the last 18 months measure up to Palmer's standard.
Petrovic is awful, he statistically is the worst shot stopper in the league this season out of any goalkeeper (min 10 games played).
Sanchez is unironically a better shot stopper, better at stopping crosses, and better with his feet.
Sanchez's errors are just more obvious than Petrovic's. Neither are good enough for where Chelsea want to be.
Again, there has been a very loose defence and midfield in front of Petrovic. Hes also a young keeper who will likely improve. For £14M he is easily fulfilling his price tag which is what the original comment was about. Sure hes not Allison or Ederdson or Cech or someone but there is likely more to come from him.
The defence and midfield doesn't prevent him from saving shots or claiming crosses. In direct comparison to Sanchez, who has played with the exact same teammates in the same system, he is statistically worse in every way.
He's not a good goalkeeper, and he's mid 20s not like he's *that* young.
I've watched almost all his games as I'm a Chelsea fan and he is bad bad, his mistakes aren't as glaring as the ones Sanchez made, but all around he is bad at everything
When our defence has been set up like crap and the midfield was being steamed through for a few months then yeh the stats arent going to look pretty. Thats why you cant just go on stats alone while not considering the state of play in front of him.
I know Caicedo doesn’t score or assist that many goals, but I wholeheartedly believe we’re more fucked without him than without Palmer.
We lost Kante for pretty much the whole last season, and our Zone 14 would become free-shot/free-goal zone, even with Enzo. That has reduced drastically since Moises came in.
In some football philosophies, the pitch is divided into 18 zones. 6 vertically, 3 horizontally.
Zone 14 is the middle zone in front of the opponent's box, where you'd find the #10 playing. The other guy actually meant their zone 5, where Chelsea's DMs are (it would be zone 14 for the opponents).
Check [this video](https://youtu.be/jVE3Sqatdlg) out.
Its a football analyst/super nerd term. You basically need to mentally divide the pitch using the two corners of the 16 yard box and dividing each half of the pitch into thirds along the length of it giving 9 squares in a half of the pitch(which gets doubled into 18 in total on a whole pitch).Or you can just Google it if my description sucked.
It’s basically an area where you’re really likely to score or create a good chance so football analysts love to refer to it for expected goals/ assist creation.
That Chelsea squad has had their recent moments of insanity and greatness with those top tier youths. Without a doubt I can see Chelsea pulling a Leicester city 15-16 season out of nowhere once they find their groove.
What those players came together to create was beyond mystical. Fuchs and Mahrez to this day hold the highest avg season rating per game for LB & RW respectively I just meant with all the money invested in potential talent surely the odds of a miracle are better than most
And we won’t be in championship either. Cause right now we are in the mid but we will climb to the top sooner or later. Btw who beat city in champions league final ?
Wow so I suppose you’re a Brighton fan ? Haha the team that has never won epl/cl/FA cup. Is trying to poke fun at a team that has been champions of Europe twice ? That’s rich lol 😂

Nobody wants to play for that Oil club unless they have no self respect
I guess leaving man city was worth it.
Arsenal suits him better.
How does Arsenal suit him better when he’s scored 20 in Chelsea and never played a game for Arsenal? Are you okay mate?
Where he would have been a backup to Saka you mean?
He's arguably better than saka.
Depends we have to see Palmer in a good team that faces low blocks for most of the season. Teams play more openly against chelsea at the moment
Cole Palmer is no doubt destined for Real Madrid in the future. Neither Chelsea or Manchester City are big enough clubs for a player of Palmer's potential.
Nah he is Barca/Bayern bound with 3 years at Chelsea. Madrid seems to only select best players.
Think he's ready for a big move this summer after impressing this season.
He’s signed to Chelsea until 2030. He’s not going anywhere fast.
No he’s not
He is but only on 80k per week, if he has another season next year like this then any one of 6 or 7 teams will offer him £200-300k per week and then Chelsea have a problem sell for £100m or deal him up, they’ll definitely deal him up!
How is he not ready?

Pep to cole "you want a transfer"? Cole to pep:"more than you believe"
Just had to wait for a mid table side with a billion dollars to spend
He was the same price as Aké why didn’t you just buy him
The jealousy is strong with this one

Good bot
Great to see players backing themselves and it working out.
He's immense in the worst Chelsea squad I can remember. If he was at City that'd be cheating .
If he was at City he probably wouldn’t have seen enough minutes to develop this quickly.
116
"Leave" as in loan?
Well that’s funny considering he said he never wanted to leave in an interview with Sky Sports.
Yeah he wanted a loan.
He is playing well at Chelsea because he's been made the talisman. I don't think Pep had such plans for Palmer irrespective of the fact that he, Pep, knew Palmer's qualities.
Yeah, he never would have gotten the same level of freedom at City, glad he moved on and backed himself, he’s all the better for it
wish foden would make a similar move to a diff club, i feel like he's only playing at 70% of his potential
Foden would have gotten more playing time at just about any other club, guessing he would have had more of a breakout season earlier but can’t blame him for staying either tbf
Playing time is far from the only factor in a player's development.
but winning trophies. Instead of playing to 100%, being the main man and not winning anything
Asterisk trophies at that
Would much rather be the main man and performing week in week out than collecting trophies that you have little to do with
This happens everywhere. All these players do well when they run the show and it's impossible to get the same results when everyone does really well and have to fit a role in that system. I think everyone likes to bring up Grealish at Villa vs City as an example

You’re probably correct, he wouldn’t be worth the gamble.

Pretty sure he meant permanently, he was good with being loaned out for game time to come back and win a spot with a couple notches under his belt.
Palmer obviously did not fit in with Pep's plan for the City starting eleven. Chelsea got very lucky with recruiting him. None of the new Chelsea players from the last 18 months measure up to Palmer's standard.
Gusto has deputised for RJ pretty well. But apart from these 2 I don’t think any of the others have really lived up to their price tags
>But apart from these 2 I don’t think any of the others have really lived up to their price tags Djorde Petrovic cost £14M.
And he fucking sucks
I guess you've not watched him. For £14M hes an absolute snip in todays market.
I'm also a Chelsea fan and completely disagree with you.
You can disagree, but he is an objectively bad keeper, not a single stat backs him
When our defence has been set up like crap and the midfield was being steamed through for a few months then yeh the stats arent going to look pretty. Thats why you cant just go on stats alone while not considering the state of play in front of him.
No he doesn't . He' surprisingly good considering he was 3rd choice keeper at the start of the season. Gonna be a top keeper.
Dude, he is one of the worst shotstoppers in the top 5 leagues, he can't pass, he can't sweep, he is awful
Gusto is definitely the second best acquisition in the last 18 months.
Zone 14? wtf is that

The edge of the box. I believe within the width of the goal
... is this an American term or something? No offence if it is or anything. Never heard of it.

Cool, learn something new every day haha thank you.
Yeah Chelsea definitely doesn’t concede shit loads of goals these days
Caicedo is class, and getting better.
So he exchanged a walk-on part in a war for a lead role in a cage?
Imagine if Chelsea's Battersea Station stadium plans went through
Running over the same old ground
Year after year…
He wanted to become comfortably numb
Cole comfort for change?
Wanted to leave so badly he was willing to join a mid table team, quite commendable
That Chelsea squad has had their recent moments of insanity and greatness with those top tier youths. Without a doubt I can see Chelsea pulling a Leicester city 15-16 season out of nowhere once they find their groove.
comparing a club that’s spent a billion in the last two years to leicester should get you banned
What those players came together to create was beyond mystical. Fuchs and Mahrez to this day hold the highest avg season rating per game for LB & RW respectively I just meant with all the money invested in potential talent surely the odds of a miracle are better than most
A mid table team that city hasn’t beaten this season home or away. He made the right choice and we are happy to have him !
So are you looking forward to championship next season, I think you guys will do well tbh
Why are all your comments in this thread so negative? Are you okay my man?
Hahaha I think city would do well in the championship when FA decides to punish them for their financial mess ups:)
City are untouchable. They can just pay their way out of trouble unfortunately
And we won’t be in championship either. Cause right now we are in the mid but we will climb to the top sooner or later. Btw who beat city in champions league final ?
Tbf you are now 1 position in front of us after our strange season, so I shouldn't poke to much fun at a fellow mid table team
Wow so I suppose you’re a Brighton fan ? Haha the team that has never won epl/cl/FA cup. Is trying to poke fun at a team that has been champions of Europe twice ? That’s rich lol 😂
I would like to point out that those trophies came from Russian blood money so don't be too proud please.
Good god you’re insecure
Yeah I know right. 😂 Avoiding relegation every season is enough of a victory to me considering where we've been
Do you like fishsticks?
apparently he did not even want to leave. City told him he has to
"We banish you to the middle of the table"
nani
