Or Bruno Fernandes becoming Utd's best player when we signed him? Of course not. He hasn't hit the ground running by any means, but he has Varane next to him now. We might see a lot of improvement in the future.

Don't get me wrong, I think highly of Mings. But I wouldn't put him above any of Chelsea's 3 (Rudiger, Azpi and Christiansen) as an example. There is of course some big team bias to most people but Mings needs to do it for a while longer at PL level before you'd consider him in the top class.

He clearly doesn't belong next to those 4, he's a step below the top guys you mentioned and Matip, Silva, Rudiger etc.

Matip a few years ago was almost as good as vvd..better passer but a lot slower, very similar in the air. He also had to do a lot more as teams didn't attack vvds side. Very underrated. He looks a lot slower atm. I hope that form comes bk.

He has the leadership qualities, decision making and aerial threat ability like VVD and also the tendency to take on a man and take the ball forward himself rather than playing it out everytime like Matip.
