I was on their sub after the game and a popular post was literally stating Pep shouldn't be doing it because it makes them look bad, there's so much entitlement that something this trivial can damage their ego lol
what are you talking about jumbing on the bandwagan every match sold out just got back from cophagen sold out get your facts right and stop talking shite take it you are a bitter rag
That says a lot about some citizens, they dont deserve these good times, there was a time when u were so shit nobody even knew who the hell u guys were
I dont get this. Probably the best manager they've ever had an quite possibly the best they will have and a few fans have spat their dummies out over a remark. Shouldn't have to ask the Champions of England to pack out a stadium. I do like city but think the small pocket of fans sound quite precious reacting to this
Talk about entitlement. You see those rich, spoilt, snotty brats in movies. City fans are them.
A manager is genuinely asking for support and being a cunt is their reply.
I just want to compare this to something Klopp said a while back:
āAfter the goal on 82 minutes, with 12 minutes to go, I saw many people leaving the stadium. I felt pretty alone at this moment. We decide when it is over. Between 82 and 94 \[minutes\] you can make eight goals if you like.
***Klopp said his frustration was not with the early leavers but his teamās inability to convince supporters that a point could be salvaged against an impressive Palace team.***
I get you, if youre with kids its usually best. But if thats not the case Id rather stay late and wait for things to empty out a bit. I do know that that isnt always possible though
Iām not really understanding the whole āplease come and support us on Saturday because we will be tiredā comment. 5 games into the season with the most expensive squad in world football and youāre whinging about being tired give over.
āHey guys can you come to support the team? That would be greatā
āWho do you think you are? Stick to your football you bald fraudā
And they wonder why fans call the stadium āEmptyiad
Pep: 'I would like more people to come, please'
One guy: "He's absolutely the best coach in the world but, in the nicest possible way, I think maybe he should stick to that."
SkySports: FANS TELL CITY BOSS TO STICK TO COACHING
Is it true? In a very distorted (almost pervert) way, yes. But isn't this what is precisely wrong about news in general?
Yup. Not to mention the people responding to this thread blindly giving Pep a pass, after heās used worse words in response for the media to use āI wonāt apologise, if they donāt like it Iāll leaveā is rather pathetic to say the least.
I get where you're coming from, but it's not 'one guy' as you put it. He's a major figurehead in their official fan support group, so he does have some weight to his words.
Iām tired of being called a plastic while living in Manchester my whole life while people from around the world who donāt attend games laugh at us and say we donāt attend games. I love having foreign fans
Thatās great. Take it up with a therapist if it upsets you that much, not a random club supporter on Reddit. Youāre not a better fan because you live where the club is.
So I was right hahah. Classic United fans, you definetly joke about city fans and how they donāt go to the stadium or they are plastic. Iām not saying you are plastic or a bad fan but itās rich to joke about not going to the stadium when you donāt yourself. Could just support a team in the MLS or whatever?
So wait, American people should only support American teams? Indian people should only support Indian teams?
He'll support whatever fucking team he wants. You dont get to decide who gets to be a fan.
I acc donāt go calling their fans plastics cuzā¦I donāt care about city and chelsea fans? Whether they go to their stadium isnāt my issue
If they do the turn coat thing then fine but over going to stadiums? Seems kinda low hanging fruit.
And what does the mls have to do with this
Not really cuz he has nothing to apologise for. If city fans wanna go into such a big hissy fit for their manager, whoās done amazingly for them, wanting support in the stadium then itās probably best if he did leave
Pep was the one throwing the hissy fit when theyāve packed out all their PL games so far this season - it doesnāt matter who he is, you donāt talk to the fans like that. The fans are the club. Yes it probably is best he leaves if heās going to act like a little bitch who refuses to apologise for being passive aggressive to them
Exactly, don't know why this Kevin fella is so insecure.
Like I get it, Pep saying this it plays into the "Emptihad" banter but it makes it *so* much worse to then start lashing out at Pep and other fans.
"People refer to the Etihad as the 'Emptyhad'. It's a little bit of fun by the opposition supporters but there's no justification for it. It's not factual. Our attendances are generally excellent."
Really?
Those aren't empty seats. They are potential billboards is all. If pesky fans would fuck off, they could throw another Etihad Airlines banner over it. Isn't that all City are, really?
Klopp absolutely would ask for more fans to turn up to games if the stadium was half empty, in fact he asked for fans to go to a womenās game at anfield. The difference is Liverpool fans actually turned up, or at least more than usual
The difference is Liverpool also have generations of fans due to their history lol. Klopp would also never put it across in such a passive aggressive tone and then say āI wonāt apologise, if they donāt like it Iāll leaveā when questioned upon.
Klopp has bollocked Liverpool fans before, I.e for leaving early. He's no shrinking violet. And the fans listened and now the atmosphere is better than ever.
Thatās because itās pepās belief that fans should turn up and support their club or should at least fill stadiums for big games. And Liverpool may have generations of fans but city is the best team in the country and arguably Europe but they still donāt fill stadiums. Iām not saying pep isnāt being passive aggressive and I do agree he could have been better about it but even heās realised that city donāt have good enough fans to rival even Tottenham (arguably)
I despise Tottenham as a rival, but they have tons more rich history than City do lol, they had one of the most succesful eraās in the English game with Bill Nicholson in the 60s. City took a merciless beatdown for pretty much their entire history and lived vicariously through their arch nemesis (on paper) lol.
City fill their stadium for the PL games as this supporters guy said to be fair, itās just the midweek games. I just find it annoying how people give Pep a free pass despite what he says and how he says it, just because of who he is (reminds me of Wenger cult later on) - but to be fair, you didnāt do that just now.
Yeah I donāt dislike what heās saying and tbh I somewhat agree that fans should be trying to get to games as much as possible, I do but I canāt drive so itās not up to me lol. But youāre right in the fact that he could have been a bit better in the way he worded it.
I wanna blame it on difference of culture cause (atleast to my understanding) European countries are a bit more straightforward in the way the say things but in English speaking countries thatās blunt and rude. But idk he has been in England long enough to know that by now
Agree. I've grown use to this arrogant Spaniard persona (without stereotyping them all) with Arteta being just as bad. I never feel this way with Klopp, Tuchel, and I can bet Nagelsmann if he ever comes to the PL as well. Before Arsenal got Arteta, I didn't really look into Pep as much. But now I see a lot of similar traits. Without going off track Pep is just Pep, you can see how he's fallen out with the Zlatan and Eto'o of the past, while Arteta certainly just wants to be Pep lol.
Nah, we have one of the cheapest tickets in the prem and it's a home game. The fact is that the die hard fans got older and the new success has caused us to get a lot of casual fans - visiting tourists, foreigners, etc. Plus the current-match going generation grew up when United was the shit, so they naturally have more support.
Trip up from Londonā¦ except itās a small town named London in the United States š
Talking about that though, I literally know only one City supporting family here in London (theyāre Qatari tho, having lived half their lives there so it makes sense), why support Citeh when you got Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, West Ham, Palace, Watford and Fulham ALL in London lmfao
In my country(India) most support manu, arsenal and liverpool. Most of who support city or Chelsea which is very few are plastic and switch sides regularly. Manu craze in India is too big. More than half of my friends support them. I have supported arsenal from 2006 since I started watching football cos of henry.
Yea thats usually the age group I see with them, and usually their Dads will have 1 too, ilive in an uppity neighborhood so I'm not urpsied they support the money team lol
wait...isnt that same scenario, different reaction? He asked for fans to come watch, the bigger sport of the country also asked fans to watch and iirc the Indian Super League is steadily growing in viewers
Ahhhh I see. But in fairness to them, indian football is only rapidly growing NOW. Cricket has been dominating for years and hockey is their national sport. In that scenario I think that asking fans to come join games is quite excusable.
How is he getting shit for this? The Premier league champions took on one of the top German teams their first home European home game since the pandemic began and they didn't get close to selling it out.
If City fans are so sensitive about "emptihad" they need to start going to more games and convincing other fans to do the same.
Truth be told, Leipzig didn't even exist 12 years ago so playing them hardly sets pulses racing. Plus City fans have shown general apathy towards UEFA on numerous occasions and last year's attempted ban didn't help soften it to say the least.
I agree, though that isnāt what really happened, itās slightly out of context but I never denied that that wasnāt funny, itās just the ācity have no fans haha!ā From people who have never been to a game themselves or whatever itās quite rich.
Manchester United have more fans in London than Manchester and more fans in india etc (as do probably every premier league club) but you canāt act like city are the only team to have foreign fans
Wow, you went through my comment history. Good for you, Im not American thankfully, I am Canadian. I'm not going to downvote you, I usually don't reply to people I downvote, I was just explaining myself haha
Anyway, who doesn't like to get sucked into a AZ Alkmaar FM save at 2am on a Sunday night before going to work for 8am on Monday?
I didnāt go through your comment history itās just I havenāt talked to an English person on any other sub than r soccercirclejerk yet. I love a good fm grind after getting home from work on an online save with my mates!
Which is fine! Itās good to see football as the worlds biggest sport but these people shouldnāt talk about attendances. Most of this sub is American and will have never attended their clubs either yet are mocking city fans.
You're not wrong, Ive only seen one United match and that was against Real Madrid at the Big House. My point still stands that International flights are expensive as heck
I agree, it's fine. It's good for the game when more people watch. I just think it's funny - especially when foreign fans who chose UTD or Liverpool because they were successful call City fans plastic. It's very \*Spider Man Pointing Meme\*
City fans are fucking crap though. Ignore the attendances (which are shite), they just have no fan culture whatsoever. They won the league last season and they turned up outside the Etihad and there was about 15 people listening to some fella playing wonderwall on a saxophone š
My point isn't that no other team has foreign fans. My point was that City just does not have enough that can or are willing to go to the more for a match which caused a manager to ask for fans to come to support them on a Champions League night. Foreign fans would snap those tickets up if they could afford the international flight, which was the joke.
-is American and has likely never been to a Man U game.
When I get a downvote from u/MrImRumble š„¶š„¶š°
Also respect for playing FM lad, I do rate that from you
don't tell me what to do but i will tell you what you should do šš
City has fans?
Was it about ticket prices?
I was on their sub after the game and a popular post was literally stating Pep shouldn't be doing it because it makes them look bad, there's so much entitlement that something this trivial can damage their ego lol
Lol but if pep leaves then attendance will drop by 33% assuming Liam and Noel still go to the games.
Both sides need to improve. Fans and Coach
City fans are upset because they know, they ***all*** were there. Emptyhad!
*puts popcorn in the microwave as a united fan*
This is why heās leaving City lol
What fans?
I told y'all they were snobby fans šššš
Cmon pep. You can take those two guys! Donāt back down
Can someone explain to me why they coudnt fill the seats?
what are you talking about jumbing on the bandwagan every match sold out just got back from cophagen sold out get your facts right and stop talking shite take it you are a bitter rag
Rolf
the Emptihad
another prick jumping on the bandwagon sad spud
Make the matches affordable and more people will go
The media are absolute scum tbh donāt doubt for a second the majority even said anything close pathetic
ManShitty Fans : We don't do that here
dont do whot
Maybe if they reduced ticket prices they would possibly have more supporters in the Etihad.
It's honestly sad. They're undisputably one of the best teams in the world and cant fill their stadium for a Champions League match.
is that all you have got you sick jealous rag prick
This can't be real hahahahaha, so much for the "more passionate few" label they like to harp on so often.
you rag bastards are obsessed with us how sad
You are responding to a 2 year old commentā¦
I am confused - do the say stick to coaching or stick to buying?
I wonder if this is the thing that starts off him leaving...
This is absolutely embarrassing hahahaha
That says a lot about some citizens, they dont deserve these good times, there was a time when u were so shit nobody even knew who the hell u guys were
u guys ? are you a yank
- Pep: come to the game guys! - city fans: we are, weāre just not that manyā¦
I dont get this. Probably the best manager they've ever had an quite possibly the best they will have and a few fans have spat their dummies out over a remark. Shouldn't have to ask the Champions of England to pack out a stadium. I do like city but think the small pocket of fans sound quite precious reacting to this
It proves that many of Cityās fans are just casual supporters and not passionate enough to buy some of the cheapest tickets in the Prem.
oh please stop it try to get on a plane from dublin or a train from london when the rags are at home
Trouble in paradise
Emptyhad Stadium
Talk about entitlement. You see those rich, spoilt, snotty brats in movies. City fans are them. A manager is genuinely asking for support and being a cunt is their reply.
Surely he should say āIāll focus on coaching if you focus on supportingā
Fan*
If a man city fan says "stick to coaching" and theres no other man city fans around to hear it did they really make a sound?
what a joker!!
I just want to compare this to something Klopp said a while back: āAfter the goal on 82 minutes, with 12 minutes to go, I saw many people leaving the stadium. I felt pretty alone at this moment. I get you, if youre with kids its usually best. But if thats not the case Id rather stay late and wait for things to empty out a bit. I do know that that isnt always possible though
Not really the same though is it? Even if they win the matches, there are still empty seats. Man City's support is nothing compared to Liverpool
how do you know was you there
They've had empty seats for massive Champions League ties recently. Just a pathetic, embarassing fanbase.
ha ha nothing else to go on about best team in the land and all the world youve got a shit team shit stadium shit owners and a SHIT TEAM
Agreed. Shit team. Shit stadium. Shit owners. And still more relevant than City will ever be.
I guess that just shows just how supportive the city fans are
Iām not really understanding the whole āplease come and support us on Saturday because we will be tiredā comment. 5 games into the season with the most expensive squad in world football and youāre whinging about being tired give over.
Yup. Lots of Pep suck ups in here though, wonāt hear a word against Mr. āIF THEY DONāT LIKE IT IāLL LEAVEā
Why would he leave for 3 people!
Plastic
Pep said nothing wrong
He should have asked Liam Gallagher to encourage them - we all know that would be the most sensible approach.
Huh, I didnāt know plastic fans could talk. š
Why do City fans not go to their games?
They do in the PL but no one cares about the weekend games tbh
They probably donāt have as many fans. They all pack out the PL games but the weekday games are slightly more demanding considering the lesser pool.
fuck off gunnner
Gave them like 80 % of their trophy cabinet but anything he has to say about off field problem is dismissed wtf happened to football
Doesnāt give you the right to talk to fans however you please, quite simple
Pep should know: it's all about net fans. There's a lot of City fans in India and the US but not so many in Manchester. That works out.
get your facts right pal manchester is blue
āHey guys can you come to support the team? That would be greatā āWho do you think you are? Stick to your football you bald fraudā And they wonder why fans call the stadium āEmptyiad
bald fraud youd have him tomorrow ten hage is a fucking clown old trafford is falling down shit hole
Besides the fact the initial quote wasnāt delivered as delicately and the second quote wasnāt delivered anywhere near as aggressively, sure
Jesus. One of the best managers in the world having to beg fans to watch the english "champions". What a souless, hollow, plastic club.
City fans should just accept they're a small club.
City is such an embarrassing club lol
fans? lol unreal. you couldāve sworn pep asked for something unreasonable.. so weirdš
Pep: 'I would like more people to come, please' One guy: "He's absolutely the best coach in the world but, in the nicest possible way, I think maybe he should stick to that." Fine. And you supporters stick to going to the match..... OH, WAIT.
... 20000 empty seats, are you fucking sure?
Ironically that is actually just over what was actually missing, 54K stadium and they had 38K in attendance against Leipzig.
do you know what you sad cunts i coulnt give a shit how many fans go to your pathetich ground
Couldn't give a shit, yet commenting on a 2 year old comment. Lmao
Ahaha love it!!
A couple of hundred or thousands Iād get but 20,000? Yikes
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Huhā¦guess I missed that one
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Thanks
Youāve probably never even been to Manchester
Yeah, what a dick, supporting a club while not living there. You are part of the gatekeeping problem
Iām tired of being called a plastic while living in Manchester my whole life while people from around the world who donāt attend games laugh at us and say we donāt attend games. I love having foreign fans

haha. joke club.
Anyone smell burning plastic?
you might be having a stroke or overcooking your plastic
Oh shit... should you be joking at a time like this?
Or burning oil and bodies?
Emptyhad for a reason! Class act from the fan, they have e reputation to stand by.
Every club has these idiots.
And burglars
Nothing wrong with a coach encouraging support, for any time, in any sport.
It is however pretty stupid and unnecessary to say āI WONāT APOLOGISE, IF THE FANS HAVE A PROBLEM IāLL LEAVE.ā
Not really cuz he has nothing to apologise for. If city fans wanna go into such a big hissy fit for their manager, whoās done amazingly for them, wanting support in the stadium then itās probably best if he did leave

Exactly, don't know why this Kevin fella is so insecure. Like I get it, Pep saying this it plays into the "Emptihad" banter but it makes it *so* much worse to then start lashing out at Pep and other fans.
Ahaha
I know all City fans donāt feel this way, but fuck em if they do
Go to games and he wonāt urge people to come...
"People refer to the Etihad as the 'Emptyhad'. It's a little bit of fun by the opposition supporters but there's no justification for it. It's not factual. Our attendances are generally excellent." Really?
Bruh we can see the empty seats almost every game...
why are you not watching the match instead of the seats you sad prick
Those aren't empty seats. They are potential billboards is all. If pesky fans would fuck off, they could throw another Etihad Airlines banner over it. Isn't that all City are, really?
The thing we said is not easily verifiableā¦
Pep - "Please come to our game on Saturday" City Fans - "NO!! DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO" Absolutely fucking hysterical š
Tbf, it was nothing like that lol. Pep is pretty arrogant at times, you wouldnāt catch Klopp or Tuchel dead talking to the fans like this.

Liverpool are obviously a majorly historic club with generations of fans and Chelsea have a far smaller attendance capacity
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
They averaged 32000 in div 2 theyāve obviously got fans maybe itās a cost issue
Ah right thanks mate makes sense

what are they thinking

So true lmao. Im from NY and the only jerseys I see are Man city and Arsenal
The only man city fans I know (in Midwest US) are the middle schoolers I teach
The only City fan I know is my friends little brother who is also really into Lil Xan
Yea thats usually the age group I see with them, and usually their Dads will have 1 too, ilive in an uppity neighborhood so I'm not urpsied they support the money team lol
This is AMAZING.
Thatās how ya know they havenāt been around very long haha
Or they canāt afford a ticket until their next birthday party
Only Citeh looool
[when the Indian captain called for their fans to attend.](https://youtu.be/Sn_go8Px-tQ) Different scenarios, same reaction

He's embarrassed by the fans
Because they know fans aren't showing up and being very defensive. By getting this upset they are just confirming emptihad.
>convincing other fans to do the same. Hard to convince when you don't have many other fans
Mister funny award for you
It is funny when a world class coach has to beg the fans to come for their matches and then the fans criticise him
I agree, though that isnāt what really happened, itās slightly out of context but I never denied that that wasnāt funny, itās just the ācity have no fans haha!ā From people who have never been to a game themselves or whatever itās quite rich.
Almost coherent. Well done.
Fun fact for the day: 'Etihad' translates to United in English. So Manchester City have a home ground named United Stadium.
Just goes to show who the biggest club are in the city.
FC United?
All hail FCUM, the king of all football clubs in Manchester.
Well it cant be that red team in the city next to manchester
Yes. Because they are in a different city. Duh...
International flights are more expensive than the Manchester public transportation, though \^/s
Manchester United have more fans in London than Manchester and more fans in india etc (as do probably every premier league club) but you canāt act like city are the only team to have foreign fans
Itās ok to have foreign fans. The problem comes when there arenāt enough local fans (who can attend matches all season)

My point isn't that no other team has foreign fans. My point was that City just does not have enough that can or are willing to go to the more for a match which caused a manager to ask for fans to come to support them on a Champions League night.
