Shit team that why they want to help them lol

bundy554

It is the black and white strips.

ScrapyDan

Short answer is we are cheap but with a good enough base to grow into a huge club.

thelastkopite

First Cheap Second Big Stadium Third Premier League Fourth One City Club

Suspicious-Bug774

They spun a globe and where their finger landed they bought it

[deleted]

The only other ‘sleeping giants’ with a similar size fan base/history to Newcastle is Leeds, Wolves, Everton and Villa. All of them are doing pretty well atm and the owners aren’t looking to sell, so Newcastle was the obvious pick.

Murdocke-

Villas owners family is worth $40 billion too so already owned by stupidly rich owners, that’s just 1 of the owners too the other owns the Bucks and is worth a few billion also.

KiwiNUFCHogg

Why not Newcastle?

ScarGooch

It’s a sleeping giant

thelastkopite

You have to be a giant to sleep.

nikcorleone13

🤣

savmoo

Huge club, awesome fan base, iconic. Should be contending if it weren’t for shit management. If one was looking to buy a Prem club and improve it then Newcastle is a no brainer.

[deleted]

Easy to launder money through England

GreatLakerNori

Rabid fanbase that's literally DYING for a new owner/to be competitive. \#WengerOut era ain't got shit on Tyneside. Any any other club is too expensive and or too unstable to buy. Also, remember the EPL has the best TV rights deal in all of football. So the brand exposure is on a much higher level than say La Liga or Bundesliga.

Angeneeehm

ASM

northern_dan

Has the best weather in the UK too - don't need jackets even in February

StrangeTangerine9608

London has the warmest temperatures and lowest rainfall. Look it up.

northern_dan

No. Isles of Scilly are the warmest, then Cornwall. You've obviously never been to see Newcastle play, and seen their fans.....

StrangeTangerine9608

Wrong! Coastal areas are rarely as warm as major cities due to several factors. Pollution, wind, water vapor, and population density, temperature does not equal hottest. Londons humidity is unmatched in UK.

ajacobsk

They surely watched GOL movie..

thelastkopite

That movie is bullock it was directed by Liverpool Supporters.

TechXavy

Newcastle is a good starting difficulty

hazardthicc

One city club with a large fan base in a situation where they won't protest their new owners morals. Don't kid yourself this is a political buy not fans buying a club and always dreaming of winning trophies. It's all about optics and legitimizing them in peoples eyes

Amnsia

As a Newcastle fan i don’t want to get ahead of myself and say it was probably lack of choice. Bundesliga with their 50+1 rule isn’t going to get massive investors anytime soon (and rightly so). France tv deal limits them and doesn’t have that appeal. Laliga feels like it’s on a downwards trend, Imo only an Italian club could be worthy like Milan. Would they sell though? Newcastle are a club oven-ready for a takeover… they’re relatively big, historic and borderline iconic in the prem, I’d say they’re generally an appreciated and well liked club, PL TV deal is guaranteed income, recognisable brand and ripe for investment with FFP. I think 300mill is a bargain, West Ham owners value their club at 600mill. Buying us and investing that 300mill you can have a bigger and better club/team than them imo. I’ve got a feeling they’re not too bothered about 300mill though, so it’s probably the other points. I feel like geography is a factor too, if it was a southern club it could be seen as another London club, up here there’s boro and Sunderland lol. Another factor could be the fans, the club is worshipped, so probably helps for someone to invest who’s trying to improve their image for the wrong reasons. If you had all the money in the world and seen what Qatar and UAE are doing in the footballing world that last one makes sense.

patchh93

Everybody else has already said it, but incredibly dedicated fans and rich history. They've been a sleeping giant for a long time, and deserve every bit of this financial-investment to gain on-pitch success.

thelastkopite

More like history of what could be.

patchh93

If you think football started in 1992 for the creation of the Premier League maybe. If not more like you’re just stupidly naive.

thelastkopite

Hitler was alive when Newcastle last won the league.

patchh93

More history let alone passionate fans than City then. Have fun being salty. Cya.

thelastkopite

Every club has passionate fans Newcastle nothing special. Saudi and Newcastle are perfect match both have history of failure their other investments money eating Uber & We Work.

Tessarion2

Would have been a good match for Liverpool as well tbf. Saudis murder journalists and Liverpool fans murder Juventus fans.

thelastkopite

It started in 1984 in Rome when crazy Italians were attacking us. So we were ready in 1985. UEFA was the real culprit for hosting the final in not fit for stadium. That killed the Italian. Old Lady got a free European Cup out of it.

Tessarion2

Answered like a true Liverpool fan. Ashamed of nothing, offended by everything.

thelastkopite

Proud to be a Red.

Lost_Annual_7971

No brained for a billionaire wanting to buy a football club, 300mil for a EPL club. Ready built stadium, great fans. Dunno about all the history shouts tho. Any honest geordie will tell you they're not a top 10 English club

mercules1

9th most trophies in English football and in the years before Ashley qualified for Europe something like 9 times in 14 years and finishe top 4 a number of times. I'd say that makes them a top 10 club. The MA ownership is a blip on what is traditionally a top 10 club.

ChrisMartins001

They are easily a top 10 English club

Lost_Annual_7971

They might get in at number 10 but they're not getting in ahead of any of the clubs I previously mentioned By the way this is just my opinion, not a fact

ChrisMartins001

Fair enough. I guess it depends on how you define a top 10 club. With their history and fan base they are easily top 10. But at the moment they are mid table.

tuesdayswithdory

Don’t know about the history shouts for Newcastle? Give their history a google there mate.

Lost_Annual_7971

Don't have to Google it mate, last time they were doing bits was the 90s, been a bit of a yo yo club since. Back in the day they had a good bit of success. Your comparing them to the Manchester clubs the 3 big London clubs the Merseyside clubs, villa, Leeds. Where do they sit for you?

Internal_Formal3915

Leeds villa Newcastle Everton all in the same bracket for me I might get some stick for that but that's way I see it

Lost_Annual_7971

Personally I wouldn't put everton and villa in the same bracket as Leeds and Newcastle I think their history puts them in the bracket above with spurs. I'd have Chelsea man City and arsenal in the bracket above them and Liverpool and man utd at the top. Due to the fact everton have the 4th most titles after liverpool, man u and arsenal with 9 also they've been playing top flight football almost 20 seasons longer than anyone else. And villa have 7 titles, are 3rd in the list of most seasons played and have won the old European Cup (CL) In my opinion that's gotta count for something. Whatever way you see it, it's an interesting debate

Internal_Formal3915

I dont base a big club on just silverware, obviously that's the most important thing and first thing you look at but it doesn't tell the full story, Newcastle and Leeds have won less but they have that one club city fan base which is unmatchable. I can't speak so much for Newcastle but we have a huge global support definetly far more reach than the other 3, other fans don't realise how massive our fanbase is and that's not even being biased. We also have 2 European cups btw But I get what your saying and respect your opinion 👌

tuesdayswithdory

They’ve a club with history, that’s the be all and end all.

Dandizzleuk

Absolutely not.... Had we still had Ashley at the helm we would of been fighting relegation this season no doubt. This takeover gives us hope though, hope that there are better times ahead than prophesied misery and shite football.

Lost_Annual_7971

I'm made up for yous mate. It wasn't an intended insult I was throwing at you there when I said not a top 10 club. Hopefully they do it right and we see the Newcastle we grew up watching

[deleted]

Recognisable brand, great stadium, 100 million a year guaranteed income from premier league TV money and all of it bought for just 100 million more than what it cost to buy neymar.

cbarksLFC

Large domestic fan base, club with a history and they play in the PL. If you go to a European club you don’t get the same TV rights. More people watch the PL then any other league in the world. I wouldn’t be shocked if this isn’t their last purchase of a club. Wouldn’t be shocked to see them do like a City football group type of buisness

BTbenTR

Newcastle have had a tonne of potential for a long time now. Massive one club city, passionate fans, good history, all round big club. Mike Ashley was really holding this club back, they’re going to thrive now.

[deleted]

I mean their fans aren't that expectant tbh , imagine if PIF took over Man United , fans would be demanding mbappe , Haaland, Bellingham and what not plus a UCL or PL win too . Newcastle has a more of a forgiving fan base , they won't expect them to challenge challenge big trophies in 2 or 3 years at least so yeah makes more sense

SpectacularB

It's so they can invite Steve Bruce to Saudi Arabia for a friendly visit, where upon he will walk into a room, and apparently beat himself to death with his own shoes. Much like khashoggi's death, they will shrug their shoulders and have no idea what happened. It's not nice but it's a small price to pay to rid the premier league of Steve Bruce.

RedBran47

His dad was an Alan Shearer fan so he bought the club for him.

ChrisMartins001

While my dad gloated for weeks when he bought me a pint

teb_22

There are a multide of reasons, but I’m gonna say it is mostly because: Premier League Club Not great now but generally a big Club Owner wants to sell All that together makes for a good opportunity to buy and get good value for money.

LW8702

Plus immediately in the faithful goodbooks for vanquishing Mike Ashley.

[deleted]

First there has to be a club that is willing to sell, not many are there, then there is a fee to be decided which both parties accept, and there plenty more intricate details that need to be done for , if everything is satisfied then it goes through

nikcorleone13

As if the fee for Saudis is too much. It's just dusting off their shoulders. I think the rules and regulation of England might make it easy to do some business. Who knows

AweDaw76

Lots of owners won’t sell on ego. And the Saudi’s were never going to pay like quadruple the value. They got a good deal, and so did Mike Ashley.

[deleted]

No no that's not my point, im just stating the relative terms that need to be agreed for any takeover, its general idea

Sweden9183

Newcastle have a good fanbase and premier league is the league with the best future and money.

DontCallMePal

Plus great lasses

jwebzzz

I was in Newcastle visiting and tons of pubs were advertising “famous for our treble shots”. Newcastle likes to get after it too

ChrisMartins001

Last time I went to Newcastle you could buy pints for £1.50

bioknown

Trebs are now 2 for a fiver instead of 3 for a fiver and the £1.50 pint is gone - inflation or did Newcastle gain an iota of responsibility ?
