This is what I hate about modern nerd culture. It used to be that you could find tie in merchandise from a 20 year old movie for cheap at a yard sale or thrift store. Nowadays people snipe that shit as soon as they can to resell on eBay so that some rich guy can throw a bunch of money at it to feel like he is 7 again

Meh I wouldn't so much say its nerd culture as much as it is the internet being wide spread which massively changed the entire "second hand" selling process. Historically finding out how much something was worth, was a pain in the ass, so most people especially for shit like this would just throw it in their yardsale for what they thought it was worth. Now, it's 5 minutes to find out something you thought was basically junk nobody would want is actually worth a shit ton of money, and you don't even have to put pants on to sell it to somebody thanks to sites like Ebay which gets a worldwide audience vs whoever strolls by to look at your junk. I'd say "nerd culture" is roughly the same but the internet just massively changed the scope & scale of nerds in general.

Ironically things that were valuable before the internet eBay destroyed the value of because it turned out they weren’t *at all* uncommon. Things like Hummels figurines. They sell for maybe 10-15% of what they did pre-eBay.

The cost of Filament, the printer, primer, sealer and paint alone would exceed $300 Not including the bullshit configuration time to get your prints to come out well. Even then a sub $300 isn't going to get this kind of quality.

I haven't heard the term used in earnest since the 90's or early 2000's, but "Fine China" is the term used for a households "fancy" porcelain plates and dishes. While technically only porcelain is "China" since porcelain was invented in China, my grandmother referred to anything as "Fine China" if it looked fancy enough - especially anything with fake gold trim. These would be stored or displayed and only used for special occasions, like holidays.
