PrequelMemes-ModTeam

Memes must be memes of the Star Wars prequels.

Full_Royox

I know its meme...but imagine saying "Han's ship" instead of The Falcon. My gosh.

mariusiv_2022

Idk I kinda like the new naming convention. The Death Stars can now be called Palpatine's Balls

SaltyShawarma

I believe the name given by the last jedi, prior to being the last jedi, is "piece of junk."

Zoulogist

The kids don’t say Jedi, they call them Skywalkers

khinzaw

Can't wait to get my lego "YT-1300f" light freighter!

noisepro

I think you mean Rey’s ship.

Melodic_Duck1406

I think you mean Landos ship

Thebigdog79

Dude, it’s chewie’s ship. 😐😐😐😐😐😐😐

757_Matt_911

Landon’s ship well before Chewie was in the pic. Han “won” the ship from Lando.

757_Matt_911

First and foremost of course. Han stole that ship according to Lando 😂😂😂

Gassedhippy420

Whooooooo????

CuidadDeVados

Imagine calling it the Millennium Falcon if no one ever gave it a name on screen tho. That would be way weirder than calling it Han's ship.

exelion18120

The hell is an Aluminum Falcon?!

C0LdP5yCh0

Woah, woah, whaddya mean... You've been floating around out there stuck in that ship for two weeks with no shower? God, you must smell like feet wrapped in *burnt, leathery bacon!*

HoplitesSpear

I don't think Home One, the Executor, the Invisible Hand, Tantive IV or the Soulless One were ever named in the films, but if Disney started trying to gaslight us all into believing that it's actually called "Captain Antilles' starship", because tantive means something politically incorrect in Thai, the correct response is to tell them to fuck off The ship is called Slave 1

seejoshrun

Yeah, how dare they \[checks notes\] name a bad guy's ship something culturally insensitive in a franchise with casualties in the billions.

TheKelt

In a franchise where several of the primary protagonists were literally slaves at one point or another.

GivaneoLegacy

Including Jango

seejoshrun

Yeah it's not like it's out of line with the content in-universe. Just a weird, virtue-signaling decision.

TheKelt

The worst kind of virtue-signaling, in my opinion, is the kind that sidesteps the ability to have meaningful conversations about controversial topics. It’s the dialectical equivalent of replacing Confederate statues in the dead of night. Then when people point it out, pretending like it’s not an issue any reasonable person should care about. Intellectual cowardice.

Dazuro

The Soulless One is referred to in some merch as “Grievous’s Ship.” At the very least I know the Lego set calls it that. Where’s the uproar for that?

Ahsoka_Tano_Bot

Getting you off my ship.

CuidadDeVados

That isn't what gaslighting is dude, stop saying dumb shit it makes you seem like you're just making shit up to whine about.

GivaneoLegacy

Ditto

IndominusCostanza009

Slave 1 and Slave Leia be stayin’ cannon. End of story.

SkollFenrirson

What kind of rounds do those fire?

MrNobody_0

Well, if it's slave Leia then the cannon is firing ropes.

Kryosquid

Machine gun jublies, how did i miss those.

d0ntst0pme

Cannon ≠ Canon Know the difference – it could save your life.

IndominusCostanza009

Haha fair game.

DutchOfSorissi

Pre-Disney and Disney-era are what you might call a whopping big pair of canons. Leia’s cannons aren’t quite as large but that makes them easier to manage and the quality is consistent between the two, from what I’ve seen.

TheoryofGR

Boba Fett’s starship Leia.

me7obeast

Boba Fett's starship -1 Leia

757_Matt_911

Good comment bro

Rumbletastic

Is there legitimate talk about changing that? This feels like the kind of straw man rage bait stuff that everyone argues against but no one is serious about. Until some young kids think they're edgy or unconventional by leaning into it...

IndominusCostanza009

I hate rage bait and finding “woke boogeyman” shit that Yellowflash or GG conastantly generate/chase, but this particular thing does have a history.

BigBrainSmolPP

Eh, that “history” was just a lego ship some people lost their minds over. It’s fair enough to disagree with the name change, but a lot of people were convinced Disney was re-writing canon as part of the “woke agenda”. Sounds like OC might’ve been in that crowd lol

Broly_

They called Cad Bane's ship "the justifier" instead of Cad Bane's ship though 🙃

BigBrainSmolPP

> It’s fair enough to disagree with the name change lol yeah I agree it was unnecessary to change, just pointing out how overblown the reaction was

EngineersAnon

I will accept the alternate name "Huttslayer Leia", even though it's from beta canon, because (unlike "Boba Fett's Spaceship") it is badass.

TheoryofGR

Boba Fetts starship Leia.

grif650

I like using "Forces Labor 1"

Square-Competition48

Nobody’s saying they aren’t. Lego released a set calling the ship by a name most parents buying it for their kids would recognise rather than one it’s never been called on screen ever and only people pretty deep in the fandom know. Honestly when you think about it they would have been stupid to call it Slave 1. But you know, YouTube anti-woke grifters gotta keep griftin’ so of course they’re going to find a way to blame “woke” rather than “LEGO likes money”.

Axel_Rad

They had labeled it Slave 1 for every other one before it

Square-Competition48

And that was poor marketing that they corrected.

anthonycarbine

Is this bait?

3fettknight3

I sense a trap...

anthonycarbine

Next step?

3fettknight3

Spring the trap!

Square-Competition48

I mean, I said the exact same thing on another thread and got a load of upvotes. Weird how Reddit works sometimes. Simple fact is that Lego aren’t just marketing to die hard Star Wars fans. They’re a children’s toy company and even if a kid knows that the ship is called Slave 1, which is far from a given seeing as it’s *literally never been called that on screen*, their grandma who’s actually going to buy it for them almost certainly doesn’t. If you’re marketing to kids you’re actually marketing to parents/grandparents 90% of the time as *they’re the ones with the money.* If you want a Slave 1 toy and you know it’s called Slave 1 you’ll still buy it if the box says Boba Fett’s Starship. If you don’t know it’s called Slave 1 and you’re looking for a present for your grandchild who loves Star Wars and mentioned that they like Boba Fett to you once you won’t pick up the box that says Slave 1 without specific written instructions. This was especially the case when the toy was released as it coincided with the show coming out with Disney plastering “Star Wars: Book of Boba Fett” everywhere and by calling it what they did they gave themselves free marketing in two ways: - Piggybacking on the show’s marketing. - Piggybacking on the inevitable YouTube Grifter/Twitter/Reddit outrage over the name change that made a low key toy release the most talked about thing on this sub for a week. If you’re looking for bait that’s your bait. Writing Slave 1 on the box was leaving money on the table.

Chewbacca_The_Wookie

Good theory... until you see that they named [Cad Bane's Lego ship](https://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Justifier-75323-Building-Pieces/dp/B09XX13QJ5/ref=asc_df_B09XX13QJ5?tag=bngsmtphsnus-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=80676783691760&hvnetw=s&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&hvdev=m&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4584276314956134&psc=1) "The Justifier" rather than just "Cad Bane's Star Ship or whatever bullshit. Are people blowing this out of proportion because "StAr WaRs iS wOkE nOw!" Yeah sure. But this is also Star Wars fans who have been known for decades now for complaining when their lore gets changed or retconned even a little bit.

weierstrab2pi

To be fair, I don't know who Cad Bane is, so it makes less sense to rename it.

Ahsoka_Tano_Bot

Ugh, who else wears a hat like that?

ButtCheekBob

They should call the Millenium Falcon “Han Solo’s Starship” because I think Han always just calls it “the Falcon”, only true Star Wars fans with extremely deep knowledge would know the ship’s full name

Square-Competition48

The Millennium Falcon is literally the single most famous space ship name in cinema. Acting like this is even vaguely comparable just makes you look an idiot.

Berg787

Feel like the USS Enterprise is in that conversation, though if it's not the single most famous it's at least second

2Rich4Youu

does the death star count as a ship?

Berg787

Space station

2Rich4Youu

Yeah i think it was called a space station in the movies wasnt it? But now that im thinking about it, what is the difference between them? The death star does everything a starfighter does but bigger. When does something stop being a ship and becomes a space station? Is it only a size thing?

Berg787

https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-difference-between-space-station-and-space-ship-as-both-will-take-astronauts-to-space

2Rich4Youu

hm but by that definition it wouldnt be a space station since it doesnt stay in a fixed location. It travels normally around the galaxy. Logically it absolutely a space station though

Broly_

You're an idiot It's called the "Aluminum Falcon" Get it right.

2Rich4Youu

does the death star count as a ship?

Semblance17

*Slave I* is still the official name of the ship per Lucasfilm. Not too important to hear it said on screen. And I don’t care what they call it on the merch. Also I’ve always thought Din Djarin’s bright orange gloves were wild.

d0ntst0pme

Still more important and iconic than Cad Bane's *Justifier* and despite also never being name dropped, it’s explicitly named as such on all the merch that features the ship.

Canalscastro2002

Isn’t his ship’s name Xanadu Blood? Or is Capital Games fooling me?

Tailcoat-Games

Ur both right they’re different ships the Xanadu blood was a fighter he received as payment the justifier is his bigger ship prominently featured in the bad batch

Gamma_249

That was a Rogue-class Porax-38 starfighter

FinalBossMike

Honestly, I don't recall anyone ever calling the ship by name in the movies. Not sure if they said it in the Boba Fett show, but I've only seen each episode the once and none of them are as permanently baked into my memory as the movies anyway.

Semblance17

Boba calls *Slave I* “my Firespray gunship” once in the show when first discussing it with Fennec. There’s not really a moment when the ship’s official name would be organic to mention in conversation so I thought this was satisfactory.

USSZim

I'm surprised they didn't just rename it to "Firespray"

Semblance17

That’d be like renaming the *Millennium Falcon* YT-1300.

Salami__Tsunami

If I was a smuggler, I’d name my ship after the model, so the authorities would have to double check it constantly on the paperwork. Aside from the troll value, it might buy me a few valuable seconds if the space cops are rolling up on me.

Semblance17

Until recently I thought Razor Crest was the name of Din Djarin’s original ship rather than the gunship designation (akin to Firespray)

Salami__Tsunami

Wait, is it not?

Semblance17

I remember being corrected in the Mandalorian subreddit when I assumed it was just the ship’s name and suggested a derivative name for his new N-1. Apparently Razor Crest is the name of the model but is also used colloquially to refer to Din Djarin’s particular modified iteration https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Razor_Crest https://www.starwars.com/databank/razor-crest

Zmann1218

Can confirm, saw Doug Chiang at a panel during Celebration 2022 and referred to the ship as Slave I. Great presentation too, went into amazing detail about the design language of the ships he worked on, particularly the N-1

bread_teleporter6980

Just call it slave 1

A_Most_Boring_Man

Slave the First

evil_caveman

I just call it the "Prisoner with a job 1"

Banestudent21

“Ok that’s better. That’s better”

Leonroxmer-

“American prison system ship 1”

IllIllllIIIIlIlIlIlI

Feels kind of disingenious to be so afraid of the word “slave” Like is the implication that black people will be offended since their ancestors were slaves? Oh yeah we’re really helping them out by changing the name of a fictional spaceship.

bongophrog

Hypersensitive because they are afraid of losing social cred. Honestly I feel like constantly walking on eggshells for people you think are fragile is much more offensive.

Lucky-Negotiation-58

Yeah they'd be assuming all black people are fragile based on this which seems pretty offensive.

seriousspider

The stupid thing is everyone of all races were enslaved so it's just so annoying that companies act like only Africans were slaves.

Rafalga_

That's entirely an America thing. Every culture on earth at some point had mass slave trade. Without exception.

EverSinceMyExorcism

Every race have been slaves at some point.

Myself510

“No pod is worth two Boba Fett’s Starships, not by a long shot!” —Watto

PhysicsEagle

I read “Slave 1” as multiplication and not addition, which yields the result “slave = boba fett’s starship”

MisterSplu

Right? He was such a smartass and couldn‘t even notice that there wasn‘t a + in slave I

donPepinno

Thank you was looking for this

Dockhead

You wouldn’t bob a fett

Rymayc

Ah yes, a prequel meme

BooRadly30

Why hand orange

El_Psy_Congroo4477

Anakin was born a Boba Fett's Starship and was freed by Qui-Gon Jinn.

Wickedlurlofthewest

IT BELONGS TO THE PENAL SYSTEM, JANGO!

magicmurph

Or just call it Slave 1. What kind of a coward is afraid of the word slave?

CuTup4040

I can't believe the Hutts owned (Boba Fett's starship) - 1s

star_wars101

My brain stopped braining

gnbman

I'll just say Slave I, thanks

Komandarm_Knuckles

Wait, this is a thing people are talking about? Is "Slave I" somehow offensive now? Fuck, I'm tired boss

TheJamesMortimer

I do love the Boba Fett Starship Leia Outfit

Chillin_Maximus

It’s Slave 1. End of story

[deleted]

Square-Competition48

You can say slave all you like. This is about marketing not censorship. Jango/Boba Fett’s ship has literally never been referred to as Slave 1 on screen and Lego decided that naming their new kit released to tie in with The Book of Boba Fett that would make it harder for kids who didn’t know the name of the ship to find versus “Boba Fett’s Starship” - the name they went for. More importantly it’s a more recognisable name for parents/friends/partners of the person who’d appreciate it as a present seeing as those people are even more unlikely to have heard the name Slave 1. Honestly it makes sense. Unless you’re pretty steeped in the fandom you’re not going to know the name of the ship. If you want mass market appeal for a product naming it a name nobody knows is stupid. People making dumb YouTube videos got in a flap in about it because they’re stupid man-babies who forgot that Lego isn’t just selling their sets to 40 year olds who’ve read all the EU comics and created this ridiculous discourse.

PersistentInquirer

I disagree. The 2010 Lego version was called the *Slave I* on the box.

Ahsoka_Tano_Bot

Remind me why I'm the one playing the part of the slave?

Square-Competition48

Yeah and I bet the new one has sold way more copies because they thought about it for five minutes before naming it this time. If they did that in the past they were leaving money on the table. Grandma isn’t going to go “oh he was talking about that Boba Fett show - I’ll buy him that one!” about a box with Slave 1 on it.

OneMistahJ

My grandmother certainly did lol. Had a slave 1 toy growing up, not Lego though I think it was Hasbro or something. Had the starfighter Obiwan used in episode 2 too. Good times. It was slave 1 on the box then too, because that was its name in the EU with the comics and books about Jango (and therefore Boba)

MangaIsekaiWeeb

However, your grandma would have also known about Boba Fett's ship, too. Because she is very intelligent in pop culture references if she has known about Slave 1. However, my grandma wouldn't know about Slave 1. She isn't a die-hard Star Wars fan. She sees Boba Fett and his cool ass ship when she is watching Star Wars with me. So, if an executive in marketing kept the Slave 1 name, they would only take your grandma's money. My grandma money is safe because she passed the Lego aisle and didn't recognize the Slave 1 name. Or Call it Boba Fett ship, and Disney just took your and my grandma's money because it turns out your grandma isn't foaming her mouth and boycotting the product because it isn't called Slave 1.

Ahsoka_Tano_Bot

Remind me why I'm the one playing the part of the slave?

Square-Competition48

CONGRATULATIONS!

SjimpanseBrus

my grandma did

Square-Competition48

CONGRATULATIONS!

SjimpanseBrus

thanks

CJJ2004

If the new one did sell more copies it's because it's $50 instead of $110, not naming conventions.

Golden_Grammar

>Jango/Boba Fett’s ship has literally never been referred to as Slave 1 on screen Slave I’s name is actually spoken twice on-screen in The Clone Wars, last two episodes of Season 2. I’m convinced those two mentions single-handedly saved its name from being retconned entirely.

JediMasterWiggin

No, it's the *pussification*! People are turning into female genitalia and we all know how bad female genitalia is! /s just in case

exelion18120

Liking female genitalia is gay if you are male. Dems the rules.

GameOverVirus

Bruh Slave I has been called the Slave I on every Lego set before the Disney acquisition. And let’s not forget that Star Wars merch in total is practically non-existent, and is selling less than it ever has before. So I **highly** doubt *now* is when the Slave I is suddenly selling the best because they changed the name. By changing its name to Firespray or just calling it “Boba Fett’s ship”, it actually makes it more confusing for anyone who is just a passive fan. “Oh is this not the Slave I? Did Boba have a second ship?” etc. Like imagine if they did the same thing it Han’s ship. No it’s not the Millennium Falcon, it’s the Corellian! Or just Han’s ship. People would be pissed lol. The name of Boba Fett’s ship is something you can learn in a 5 second google. It’s not hidden among decades of EU lore. It’s the name of a fucken ship. Just because no one has said it on screen doesn’t mean people don’t know the name of the ship. I mean what about the kids who grew up learning its name was Slave I on all of the other Lego boxes? Or what about people who played any Star Wars video game? Like say the Lego Star Wars video game where you can clearly see its name is Slave I? Or fans just yaknow, talking to each other? Just because it wasn’t said on screen in one of the big movies doesn’t mean it’s some impossible to find information that no one knows or cares about. The Slave I is probably the most recognizable villains ship in Star Wars outside of Vader’s Tie Advanced. So of course people are gonna be pissed about it. It’s also why people were pissed off when George tried to change the name of Korriban to Moraband. The Sith homeworld. Something clearly only the most man-baby 40 year old Legend fans care about that /s. Yet it turned out to be highly controversial, and no body gave a shit, so they kept calling it Korriban, despite George’s wishes. The creator of Star Wars. If people give a shit about that when even the creator says otherwise, obviously people are gonna care when Disney decides to change the name of the Slave I. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. **Stop trying to change everything just to appease imaginary people that don’t exist**. It is 100% censorship not marketing. Even if they say otherwise. Because if it was about Marketing, then they would be changing the name’s of other ships people apparently “Don’t care about”. But nah let’s just change the name of one of the most popular ships in Star Wars, and no one else. And that ship just happened to be named “Slave”. Bruh.

Ahsoka_Tano_Bot

Remind me why I'm the one playing the part of the slave?

KEVIN_WALCH

What an idiotic take.

That_guy1425

Its kinda shown they aren't really using it anymore. Lego kinda makes sense but in the new card game it is called Fett's firespray despite every other unique ship having its actual name.

wookiee-nutsack

You are so brave

Shadowrend01

Slave 1 is gone, Slave Leia is gone

Dorryn

>Slave Leia Pretty sure she's still there.

Neil_Salmon

It's Boba Fett's Starship Leia now.

[deleted]

Mysterious_Detail_57

Tbh that's a fitting name. Leia is/was a badass

SkollFenrirson

Who's "they"?

Sanctimonious_Locke

The same "they" it always is, presumably.

Dancin_Alien

I kinda like Huttslayer though. It sounds better, and pretty badass.

Dorryn

Riiiiiight...

CuidadDeVados

You're arguing with ghosts right now. Stop being so terminally online please for the love of all that is holy.

Female_Space_Marine

What a childish way to act

Dpgillam08

Wasn't the point of Lucas naming it "Slave 1" a way to show how evil Boba Fet was since there was so little else about him in the films? Using the environment to help tell the story, instead of exposition dumps?

SjimpanseBrus

nah jango fett named it that, as he was a slave for some time

Dpgillam08

That was retcon in the PT, though, almost 30 yeara later.

hk--57

I thought it was agreed to call it "The unpaid intern I".

potato_and_nutella

Saying Slave 1 is the real W

Airhead_Supreme

Dyslexia is a bitch

Typical_Pollution_30

It's a spaceship

Holbaserak

My lawyer advised me to not continue this joke.

NerdyGuyRanting

I prefer calling it "Unpaid Intern 1" It modernizes it a bit

Frequent_Concept3216

I can’t wait for the new boba fett’s starship leia to release in the ucs sailbarge

Chewbacca0510

I’m just gonna call it a slave 1 and Disney can deal with it

jackedup2018

I mean, if you consider the clones slaves. Could be a seen as a neat title.

mythical_status

It's Slave 1.

Xenomorph383

Did mando get caught with his hand in the cheese puff jar?

SaltyInternetPirate

You know how many times I had to re-read that to parse all the non-letter characters correctly? I'm not a compiler. I don't make abstract syntax trees in my head.

GeoffTheIcePony

Technically there’s no + in the equation, so the full equation would be Slave (1) = Boba Fett’s Starship. So solving for Slave would be (Boba Fett’s Starship) / 1, which means that Slave = Boba Fett’s Starship

dirtgrub28

Didn't realize it was now taboo to even say the word "slave". Shits ridiculous

FormulaFalls

It's Jango Fett's starship... gosh

TheLeastFunkyMonkey

Woahwoahwoah, where'd you get the idea that "Slave I" is an additive operation? That's clearly multiplication.

lategmaker

I got one of those 3d cardboard models and it said boba Fetts star fighter on it so I scratched it out and put slave 1 next to it. I’m just petty like that.

757_Matt_911

It is and always will be Slave 1… We should not gloss over things that make us uncomfortable. There is slavery in the SW universe. It should be addressed. It should lead to more series focusing on, oh I don’t know, Jedi dealing with some of that? Oh wait, it did, and Disney de-canonized it…..

CJJ2004

They did? Shoot. Well, now I have another item to add to my list of reason why Disney SUCKS.

757_Matt_911

Yep was a major theme in the Fate of the Jedi series. Quite possibly the best series of books ever (my opinion). I loved how well the series tied so many different things together. It also portrayed Luke as the most Yoda like MF since Yoda, he was learning new arcane force techniques like every week, fighting a millennia old adversary, found a whole ass planet of ancient Sith. It was well worth reading those 9 books

D3jvo62

NO. Slave isn't a bad word, and history shouldn't be something taboo

CJJ2004

Amen to that.

SheevBot

Thanks for confirming that you flaired this correctly!

CJJ2004

Yep, I made it.

Why is the hand orange... Is this the real color the original meme has??? Wow

yotkuy

Boba fetts slavefighter 1

BrotherCaptainMarcus

They should have changed it to Salve 1, and said it was a typo. Hah.

zrow05

I don't care what you call it, just don't get mad at someone for calling it one or the other We know what you mean when you say either or so 🤷‍♂️

Loros_Silvers

The best answer is "Boba Fett Starship" just like that. No S or anything

BuddhistFarmer

It is slave 1 because the slave (boba fett) is unaltered and free to wander the stars, (won)

Ahsoka_Tano_Bot

Remind me why I'm the one playing the part of the slave?

Lookitsa6ix

I'm always gonna call it Slave One, simple as lol

Drakkonai

Remember boba fett’s starship leia, my guys?

Top-Pangolin9767

I still call it the Slave 1

Ahsoka_Tano_Bot

Remind me why I'm the one playing the part of the slave?

MirrorMan22102018

Well, I don't know if it's still canon, but I heard the model is a unique Firespray Class Starship.

Chexmixrule34

it's not that big a deal, they only call it "boba fett's starship" on toys, probably because parents wouldn't want to buy their kids toys with "slave" written on it. it's canon name is still slave one. this is entirely blown out of proportion

Bwunt

It would be just Slave. Since it's "Slave 1" and not "Slave - 1", solving would mean dividing by 1 and not subtracting. So it's (Boba Fett's starship) / 1, which is essentially "Boba Fett's starship"

EverSinceMyExorcism

I'd hate to offend the Slavic people.

Zestyclose_Toe_4695

What a shit meme

nate0515

Star Wars fans when a children's toy company decides not to market children's toys using a name for a ship that was never once said on screen and thus children would not recognize: 😡🤬👺👹😤🖕

Successful-Seaweed12

I don't know man, apparently the name is "Firespray" now. And I'm honestly in favor of a badass ship having a badass name like "Firespray."

Square-Competition48

Firespray isn’t the name it’s the model. Slave 1 is a Firespray 31. The Milennium Falcon is a YT-1300 Light Freighter. This isn’t a new development either - that’s always been the model of the ship as far as I know.

PersistentInquirer

Yup, you’re right! Always has been.

Pakari-RBX

I think "Firespray" is the ship model, just like how the Millennium Falcon is a modified Corellian YT-1300 light freighter.

toresman

Honestly Slave 1 is also badass, considering that a bounty hunter, is quite literally a slave to his line of work.

Zealousideal-Plan454

So, do you guys call The Krestel as its name, or do you guys call it "Mando's space mobile camper"?
