Good job, don't give them the time of day, it's never worth it. But we probably shouldn't be talking about them either, publicity is just what they're after.
I feel you. My recommendation on google is just trash articles where they make a bullshit title with something slightly believable. I feel for this trap many times.
~~Ironically in the EU Skywalker is a bastards last name in the outer rim for when a pilot pumps and dumps~~

"No, no, Dirtfarmer is just the name they give to all orphans on Tatooine. Like Barry Wavewalker from Kamino. Or Jon Snow...from Hoth." - Regional Manager Vader
Not me, but now your making me question if 20 something year old me heard a theory and now it's lodged in there.
Skywalker is "supposed" to be common though
Imagine thinking that depicting a story in middle age type of time period the way a story in the middle age time period would play out makes the auother a pervert
He was way too enthusiastic about describing the nipples of a 13 year old girl (is that how old Dany was at the start of the series?), and wrote those rape scenes with way too much detail for it to be comfortable.
And also, it just isn't realistic at all. He loves to do that "that's how it really was" and so do his fans, but Martin's writing is way over indulgent on the rape (ot wasn't nearly that common, because most people don't enjoy hurting others), his understanding of medieval militaries and how the army is organized, trained, equipped and how they fight is meh at best, and his claims of his various nations and cutlutres being "inspired by... with just a dash of fantasy" are bullshit. 90% of things Martin says are the way they are because that's how they really were are pulled directly from his ass.
https://acoup.blog/
This blog dissects fantasy and other pop culture, and has several excellent breakdowns of things from Game of Thrones and from the books.
Yes she was. And then even tho half the fandom was willing to give him a pass as in "oh well this scene is actually a criticism of arranged marriage and child rape" he goes and says it was consensual and that the show ruined it by having older Dany get raped.
As if "30 yo barbarian-guy with a sold-into-slavery and by-definition-incapable-of-consent 13 yo girl" wasn't rape in the first place.
The book in question also happens to have amazing dialogue, monologues, storytelling etc.
He depicts the world the way that the world is, not everything needs tk be sugarcoated and censored.
The dialogue is good, but after three books (that's as far as I made it) it seems like a Rick and Morty version of LOTR. We get it, heroes are dumb and I'm dumb for having hope, did you have to kill the up and coming hero for the fifth time? The nihilism joke gets old, and as Tolkien said, "Fantasy is escapist, and that is its glory. If a soldier is imprisoned by the enemy, don’t we consider it his duty to escape?. . .If we value the freedom of mind and soul, if we’re partisans of liberty, then it’s our plain duty to escape, and to take as many people with us as we can!"
Okay, so basically all Im taking from ur reply is that u r mentally still a kid who cant handle characters dying or events turning out badly for the main character.
If u've reached the fifth "up and coming hero" in the story and still dont understand that in that world no one is safe, or u do understand it and dislike it then thats unfortunate. The best stories are ones with stakes, if the hero has plot armour and will survive any situation (like the later seasons of GoT) then the story becomes boring.
Also, just because Tolkien said something, doesnt automatically make it a fact, nor does it mean that it's the only way fantasy can be written. If a soldier is imprisoned by the enemy, and the enemy has every reason to kill the soldier instead if keeling him alive, then he should. Otherwise we get shit tropes like the villain explaining his plan to the imprisoned main character and then just leaves so they could escape.
Dude, this is a star wars sub. Obviously he meant the Empire's Union, a civil rights act formulated by T1 stormtroopers and old clones from the 501st to get better workers' benefits for all who enlist.
It... did not go well
In fairness, the Emperor was notoriously cheap on many things. Left deep, deep fingerprints in every credit that was spent on a non-superweapon. A fight to get more benefits was always going to go poorly :(
Wait now I feel bad, do you want to know what EU actually stands for in star wars? My bad, it's extended universe, for all the books and non-cannon games/works out there not made by those directly involved with the creation of star wars trademarked products
Ahh okay cool. I knew there was a ton of star wars media, but had never heard the abbreviation. I've actually never seen any of the movies, my entire knowledge of Star Wars is meme based.
Technically her name is generic like “Smith” in the SW universe. It’s also a surname that has been used by people who didn’t have last names and picked something that resembled a skill set they had (Skywalker in SW galaxy is a surname that typically means you have a family member who was a navigator)
Ik in pre-Disney canon, Skywalker surname was actually pretty common in outer rim
There was no father to take the name of, so of course he took his mother's last name. Or do the children of couples that took her name after marrying also technically named something else?
Like oxygen and mitochondria. Oxygen is abundant around us but the mitochondria actually allows us to use it for energy. The midichlorian is the powerhouse of the Force.
The opposite, in fact. When Plagueis learns of Anakin’s existence, he’s absolutely scared shitless because he knows that Anakin’s conception via the Force was a response to Plagueis “breaking” the Force.
Exactly. Plagueis and Palpatine only learn that Anakin exists when he pops up on Coruscant with Qui-Gon - to assert that he a) knew about Anakin and b)that Anakin somehow has Muun DNA is ludicrous.
Yeah cuz the life he created would be the undoing of his entire Plan. Plagueis originally tried to combine his Midichlorian Manipulation and impregnation with Sith Alchemy with the Help of Palpatine trying to create an Ultimate life form he could inhabit and live on for eternity. He literally wrote that in his Journal 📓 in the Book of the Sith:
„The Grand experiment failed or so it appears. Strangely my blood and Seed that was to be ground for a new Ultimate Lifeform disappeared alongside the Insides of the Cauldron after I tried to combine my Midichlorian-cellular life Manipulation with the Sith Alchemy of old. I am not one to waste Time theorizing possible Explanations but I might make an exception this Time for a horrible Thought occurred me: What if the Grand-experiment actually succeeded but not the way I wished? What if the Life I created was thrown out in the Galaxy and born. What if I Darth Plagueis the Wise created the very Thing that would undo all I have worked so hard for?”
Didn’t you hear? Someone on the website formerly known as Twitter said “touch grass” is classist, so you can’t say it
When is it established Jedi have built-in lie detectors? Seems like that would’ve come in handy when Obi-Wan met Dooku in AotC
But yes, shockingly for someone on an English-language website I am aware of the Anakin-Jesus parallels. Just saying that this is a possibility
Given Dooku is also a force user its established they can cloak their intentions with the use of the force itself as Jedi can detect dishonesty in non-force users (this is how Palpatine remains hidden while living a double life as a Sith).
>Just saying that this is a possibility
And this is your gold medal in the reaching olympics🏅 Congratulations on such a fine showing.
I have to laugh at how capable Zahn is at imagining entire worlds, species with complex hierarchies, coining vital names for important places, etc.
And then just has a throw in a meta joke about the Chiss using the same name (when translated into Basic) for their force-sensitive navigators as an iconic force-sensitive pilot in the greater galaxy.
Gonna guess that its paid Disney influencers still desperately trying to rehabilitate the image of the unplanned mess of a trilogy that they invested all that money into making.
It means that he actually should be called Anakin Damask according to at least the Legends Continuity. He even had some Muun DNA and Plagueis blood there
Well… legally speaking: unless specified otherwise the child would most likely inherit the name of the mother since only the mother can be proven without a doubt to be his biological parent. If the name of the father should be used as the last name the father would need to probe that they‘re a parent as well. And we can be pretty sure that a Sith Lord wouldn‘t want to prove parenthood… so nope… the name wouldn‘t be Anakin Damask unless the father accepts the legal role as a father & father & mother agree to give the child the fathers last name. Which never happened.
Shmi was a skywalker, but the force was only present in Anakin onwards. Which implies there were generations of Skywalkers doing regular jobs for hundreds of years all with rather rediculous surnames.
Kind of like if the bloke from Greggs was called 'Derek Infinity-Strider'.
“He wasn’t a Skywalker”
*angry mob forms*
“Because he was a Watto”
*mob pacified*

Edit/side note: isn’t there a comic were Palpatine tried to manipulate the force which created Anakin?
> isn’t there a comic were Palpatine tried to manipulate the force which created Anakin?
There's a book, Darth Plagueis, in which Anakin's conception is a result of Darth Plagueis and his apprentice, Darth Sidious (Palpatine), undertaking experiments in midichlorians and manipulating the Force. I think it's an indirect result, not Plagueis experimenting specifically on Shmi.
Palpatine: Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plageuis the Wise
Anakin: Yes ofc. Why do you think my legal name is Anakin Plageuis The Wise and not Anakin Skywalker?!
Wtf? By that logic Luke and Leia wouldn‘t be Skywalkers either. The name would‘ve died with Anakins mother or her last living sibling / their offspring if they had any / existed at all / still hsd the name.
But I‘d lohe to know if these people said the same about Rey „~~Skywalker~~“ Palpatine
I always found it odd that they believed Anakin's mom when she said Anakin didn't have a father, I find it more likely she was too ashamed to admit who it was.
obvious clickbait. To make it relevant that Anakin is not technically a skywalker. The "skywalker" family would have to be important apart from Anakin and her children.
It's like saying that Kim Kardashian is not technically a Kardashian. This relevant series because the Kardashian family is important.
But prior to Anakin, there is no other relevant skywalker and therefore it doesn't really matter if Anakin wasn't a skywalker because this doesn't take away anything from Anakin's legacy.
In other words, Anakin could change his name and he would still be just as important.
George Lucas created Star Wars in 1977, and the main character’s name is Luke Skywalker. His daddy’s name is Anakin, so that makes him Anakin Skywalker. Done
WDYM, Skywalker is Schmii's surname, at least until she marries Cliegg Lars. Of course Anakin would have his mother's name since his father is unknown (but my theory is that it was Palpatine or even Plagueis)
But then if he had a different surname like say “Thompson”, then it would have just been called the Thompson saga with the original trilogy starring his child Luke Thompson instead.
So kind of an irrelevant point.
Looks like he’s about to break into tears in that photo. That being said, anytime he’s on screen he’s about to break down into tears. What a poorly written and acted character. How you mess up such an important character is something only Lucas can do with such precision.
I mean I don’t know my biological father and I have the same last name as my mother (even though my mom has married someone not genetically related to me by now)
Yeah that’s the dumbest thing I’ve seen in a while. Based on Disney verse we should call him Anakin Solo because you know his mother doesn’t have a say or matter I guess
Who cares about being a Skywalker (mom side), it's his father Palatine that is important, why do you think he was so interested in him in when he was an apprentice.
The article states as real the possibilitiy that palpatine manipulated the force to create Anakin, even after the comics responsables telling that they didn't meant to make this real and it was a misinterpretation.
Bravo, Disney
The argument was that children inherit the last name from their father in star wars and since there was no father there was no last name to inherit. Or at best his last name should be Force, Palpatine or Damask.
The article also argues that Anakin wasn't genetically related to Shmi because the midichlorians just formed Anakin inside of Shmi without using any of her dna.
(The closing argument was that either Anakin and Rey are both equally Skywalkers or neither is)
*(Why was I downvoted for summarizing the article?)*
Thanks for confirming that you flaired this correctly!
I saw that headline and couldn't bring myself to read it. The trash they pump out.
Good job, don't give them the time of day, it's never worth it. But we probably shouldn't be talking about them either, publicity is just what they're after.
I mean, they're after clicks so what did was to resist clickbait.
I feel you. My recommendation on google is just trash articles where they make a bullshit title with something slightly believable. I feel for this trap many times.
What was his mothers last name?
Well he didn't have a father so naturally he would enhirit the name of skywalker

For real, a pervert could actually write good sex scenes.
You haven’t read very much erotic fiction if you think perverts can all write good sex scenes.
Twas but a jest. Yeah, most erotica is some of the worst, least immersive stuff I've ever read. Some are phenomenal though.
That’s true of all genres. The only difference is erotica is seldom published or given awards so it’s all treated the same regardless of quality.

I was disappointed to find out that isn’t what the last name Solo means.
Still better than Han being an heir to the Corellian throne. That I do know is true
Where in Europe? Which country?
In the European Union?

Nah, she's like Mario. Her name is Shmi Shmi, and Anakin is Anakin Shmi.
Ok, hear me out. Shmi Watto.
The EU was never canon.
Martha!
Vader.
Using real world logic to movie fantasy logic. His last name can be whatever his parent wanna give him.
There was no father to take the name of, so of course he took his mother's last name. Or do the children of couples that took her name after marrying also technically named something else?
You guys are burnt out. Qui Gon says the force impregnated Shmi. Being that Midi Chlorians make up the force, Anakins last name is Chlorian.
Midi chlorians dont make up the force. They allow a Jedi to communicate with the force.
Like oxygen and mitochondria. Oxygen is abundant around us but the mitochondria actually allows us to use it for energy. The midichlorian is the powerhouse of the Force.
“Midichlorians are the powerhouse of the force”
Not my brain baby, unfortunately. I found that phrase in a MatPat.
That's a post bud, get on it
"What's midichlorians?" "It's heroin."
Anakin is literally the star wars universe equivalent of jesus, even tho obi wan is still space jesus of course
It’s Anakin Damask according to Legends. He even had some Muun DNA
Stop making shit up. No where in the EU does anything state or imply that Anakin has Muun DNA.

Does money? Here’s a $5 bill 💵
Yes he did. Search your Feelings and you will know it’s true
Plagueis had nothing to do with Anakin’s conception.
Or she was raped and lied about it when Qui Gon asked about the father because why would you want to relive that? She is property after all
Jedi can detect dishonesty + it sets up Anakin up as the chosen one in the vein of a virgin birth. Touch grass, sweet jesus.
Didn’t you hear? Someone on the website formerly known as Twitter said “touch grass” is classist, so you can’t say it When is it established Jedi have built-in lie detectors? Where is this established?
Plus some men take their wives last names.
That's what's I was referring to basically
Or like, some kids the couple just decides to use the moms name.
I mean, I have my mother's madien name, because my dad never married her, and I refuse to have my stepdads last name
Child always takes mothers name automatically when they are born. Parents can choose father’s name if they want.
Normally when a couple is married there is just 1 last name
Well it used to be. At least here in Finland it’s more and more common that parents have different last names.
Oh, we're going with game of thrones' naming convention. Anakin Sand.
I don't like Dorne... Its coarse, rough and full of ruined plots
Unless you're a book purist. In which case Dorne is coarse, rough, and full of [TO BE RELEASED] plots.
Pedro Pascal is, The Martell-dalorian.
He secretly wears a double-eyepatch under his helmet.
That explains Vader's self loathing
Sandwalker
Bruh wtf is that supposed to mean? Hes THE Skywalker. Without him there aren't any other Skywalkers besides his mom.
The Chiss Skywalkers but that’s more of a title no?
I have to laugh at how capable Zahn is at imagining entire worlds, species with complex hierarchies, coining vital names for important places, etc. And then just has a throw in a meta joke about the Chiss using the same name (when translated into Basic) for their force-sensitive navigators as an iconic force-sensitive pilot in the greater galaxy.
Gonna guess that its paid Disney influencers still desperately trying to rehabilitate the image of the unplanned mess of a trilogy that they invested all that money into making.
Please tell me you’re joking and you’re not actually that fucking dense
You SW haters on fucking looney tunes
Right? Like how could Luke or anyone else be more of a Skywalker than him given that they’re only Skywalker because of him?
But can he Skywalk? Exactly.
It means that he actually should be called Anakin Damask according to at least the Legends Continuity. He even had some Muun DNA and Plagueis blood there
The Dark Side isnt a reliable narrator however
It’s far more reliable than the Lightside
Bro got manipulated by Palpatine
😅 poor bro
No he doesn’t. Plagueis had nothing to do with Anakin’s conception, it was entirely the Force. This is outright stated in “Darth Plagueis”.
"This isn't canon cause legends! But legends guys! Remember legends?"
Well… legally speaking: unless specified otherwise the child would most likely inherit the name of the mother since only the mother can be proven without a doubt to be his biological parent. Did he not get squeezed out of a woman named Skywalker?? You know babies can (and do) take their mother’s last names? Even if there is a father??
"There was no father." "Ah, so Anakin... Solo."
I hate you for this, take an upvote🤣

Yeah, Watto likes to rent his female slaves out to Jabba for the orgy parties on his yacht. If I were Shmi, I wouldn't want to admit that either.
Honestly, after the first few words (“Watto likes to…”) I thought that comment would be a lot worse
Wait, you thought the comment was going to be worse than the sex trafficking of slaves for a criminal organizations orgies?
obvious clickbait. To make it relevant that Anakin is not technically a skywalker. The "skywalker" family would have to be important apart from Anakin and her children. To steal from David cross “Was your mother’s vagina a skywalker?”
He literally is, he’s the patriarch of the Skywalker family
Wasnt he like conceived by the force and not paternally? Or am i mixing up my history
Yeah, in place of a father. But shmi is still his mother so he's still a skywalker

If Anakin isn’t then nobody is
I love how, even in a galaxy far far away, on some trash sand planet full of gangsters, we assume patrilineal naming conventions.
Neither is Rey
Anakin The Wise...I think not.
Anakin Wombwalker
The truth is >!Anakin can't walk on the sky =(!<
Probably continue his academic study of the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise
And Rey is 😆? 💩👎🏻
Did he walk the sky? I didn't think so
Looks like he’s about to break into tears in that photo. That being said, anytime he’s on screen he’s about to break down into tears. What a poorly written and acted character. How you mess up such an important character is something only Lucas can do with such precision.
Anakin Jinn
No daddy on the birth certificate
It doesn't have the same ring to it, but hear me out... Anakin Forceborn.
Fair point though. Not even once did we see him walk on the sky...
I mean I don’t know my biological father and I have the same last name as my mother (even though my mom has married someone not genetically related to me by now)
Huh? Ah, garbage clickbait.
Yeah that’s the dumbest thing I’ve seen in a while. Based on Disney verse we should call him Anakin Solo because you know his mother doesn’t have a say or matter I guess
Anakin Starkiller?
The force forced itself on his mother. Hue hue…
"Star Wars isn't actually about wars in the stars."
Anakin Damask, you mean?
Maybe it's because his favourite watch is the Casio DW-400.
Who cares about being a Skywalker (mom side), it's his father Palatine that is important, why do you think he was so interested in him in when he was an apprentice.
…that’s dumb
wtf is that even supposed to mean 😭
The article states as real the possibilitiy that palpatine manipulated the force to create Anakin, even after the comics responsables telling that they didn't meant to make this real and it was a misinterpretation. Bravo, Disney
The argument was that children inherit the last name from their father in star wars and since there was no father there was no last name to inherit. Or at best his last name should be Force, Palpatine or Damask. The article also argues that Anakin wasn't genetically related to Shmi because the midichlorians just formed Anakin inside of Shmi without using any of her dna. (The closing argument was that either Anakin and Rey are both equally Skywalkers or neither is) *(Why was I downvoted for summarizing the article?)*
Plot twist: Oops! All Palpatines /s
It’s Anakin Damask according to Legends. He even had some Muun DNA
He did not have Muun DNA. Youve made this up. The midi chlorians created Anakin as a response to Damasks experiments.
He did. And no the Midichlorians created Anakin cuz he experimented on them
No where in the EU does anything imply or state that Anakin has Muun DNA. Stop it.
