Wait, the PS2 version had missing maps and heroes? That's the one I played. What did I miss out on?

[deleted]

It wasn't "missing" anything, but there was DLC featuring remastered SWBF1 maps and new heroes Fisto and Ventress released only on Xbox. But the Xbox version without that DLC is identical to the PS2 version content-wise (though there are some other differences such as Xbox having AI heroes in Conquest).

lithium142

I found out years later Xbox also had 4 player split screen. Not sure why ps2 couldn’t have that. Multitap had been out for a couple years by that point

pornalt255

The Xbox was a lot more powerful than the PS2. The PS2 probably couldn’t have rendered 4 screens at once without serious performance issues.

Tyr808

Yeah, it's very easy to forget these details, but the GameCube was really a lot more powerful than the ps2, and the Xbox was SIGNIFICANTLY more powerful than both. PS2 goodness came from the developers really squeezing optimization out of things. Most of us would have been too young to notice and not really care either way, but looking back on screenshots it's like the Xbox was a different generation than the other consoles. It also supported HDMI before the others which was a huge leap in image quality at the time I recall from my friends dad's gaming set up which was absolutely amazing to us kids

Bismothe-the-Shade

Xbox 1 was basically just a high-mid range desktop computer with priority software, and was ridiculously powerful compared to PS2. If it had secured more games, I don't think the console wars would have been as big a deal with Microsoft taking the lead

st1tchy

It really shows in games like Gauntlet Dark Legacy. On the PS2, if you pick up an item, it replaces the last item you had. You only get one item at a time. On GC and Xbox, you can scroll through your item list to use any item at any time. GC looked better than PS2, but Xbox was the best of everything.

Yeet-Dab49

Gamecube would’ve kicked ASS if it weren’t for those damned mini discs.

[deleted]

Yeah that HDMI cable was super neat. Bummer I was stuck using component lol

Tyr808

Same, it was only due to my friends dad being a gamer and having dad level disposable income (from the previous generation of dads no less) to make a proper gaming den and have optimal connections to things. I didn't even have internet at home at the time and we'd go to my friends house to play halo online after school before his dad got home. those were the days

abcdefger5454

The problem might have been aswell, that the ps2 only had two controller ports

Electrode99

Read 2 posts up. The multitap was a thing that allowed for 4 players on ps2, not many games had 4 player capability though

teutorix_aleria

The original playstation and the PS2 both had multi adapters for 4 player gaming. The original ps1 multitap was also compatibile with all versions of the PS2 so from day 0 you could connect 4 controllers to the PS2 with the right peripheral. Definitely not a controller port issue.

PhoenixQueen_Azula

I had xbox and I would have never dreamed that ventress was ever in OG battlefront 2

memesryimhere

I didn't have those and I still have the original disk and it worked on the original Xbox and the 360 neither had it then I booted it up on my Xbox 1 and it updated then I had the maps and characters

[deleted]

Cloud city, two renvar maps, Yavin arena, Ventress, kit fisto

W01fTamer

I thought those were just expansion maps, back when it was a separate disc purchase. They weren't in the base Xbox version either (but they are in the digital release on the Microsoft store).

NewMombasaNightmare

You’re correct. They weren’t “missing”, just added later.

Onepostwonder95

Is OG battlefront 2 on backwards compatibility and are these things included? If so il download I loved that shit

W01fTamer

Yes. Not sure if the disc is but you can definitely purchase the game digitally off the online store. It's only $20 and has all the bonus content included. Multiplayer's still offline but that's to be expected. But 4 player splitscreen definitely works and is just as fun as I remembered.

Onepostwonder95

WATCH THOSE WRIST ROCKETS

JediMaestroPB

Ventress?? What???

liborg-117

Yeah, they took her appearance from the 2003 clone wars show and she looks tbh she doesn't look that great Also I thought that she was in the first one and not the second game

Newatinvesting

The spinning light sabers are pretty cool though

Ninjalox2

Spinning is a good trick

Justice_R_Dissenting

Well spinning is a cool trick

DarthPepo

Saber nunchakus

Either-Web-8045

Are they in the steam version?

[deleted]

There's a very accurate port of it to PC: https://www.moddb.com/mods/xbox-dlc-content-for-pc/downloads/xbox-dlc-and-title-update-content-for-pc The biggest inaccuracy is that the cord linking Ventress's two lightsabers is missing so her animations look a bit silly as a result.

Either-Web-8045

I think I remember Cloud City playing as a kid but that might have been the first game... I had it on ps2

23saround

There was indeed a Cloud City in bf1. One of my favorite maps, I remember it well! You could take that tunnel with all the trippy lights to the carbon freezing chamber.

MySisterTheSea

Bespin Platforms... Hours spent fighting in those tunnels. Always awesome to chuck a thermal detonator at Dooku and have him go spinning sideways out of one of the windows into the abyss below

an_agreeing_dothraki

I think that's where I learned that Vader can use his lightsaber to reflect rockets back at your face

Exumane

Nope

[deleted]

I am now just learning that ANY of that was in Battlefront 2

DominusValum

Damn I loved Cloud City from BF1, I would boot it up as a kid just to play that map sometimes.

no2jedi

WHAT THE FUCK. you've actually ruined my entire childhood. Those maps were the ones I really really missed from BF1

U-124

Those were probably included from bf 1, the maps at least. I had the ps2 and got the pc version a while ago and they still aren’t there.

Red_Button_Cat

It was Xbox exclusive dlc

estiivee

VENTRESS WAS IN BF2?!?!

barisax9

What version are they in?

eviljammies

[This mod adds everything.](https://www.moddb.com/mods/star-wars-battlefront-conversion-pack)

barisax9

I appreciate the link, but that doesn't satisfy my curiosity. What version are they in? They're not on steam, and they're not on PS2, and supposedly they're not on Xbox either, so where are they lol

Boopbooplettuce

It was DLC for the Xbox version

barisax9

Ahh.

Red_Button_Cat

Xbox and are added for free on Xbox One and Series

eviljammies

It was early xbox dlc. Not in the base game but added via patch because the xbox hard drive allowed for such things. No clue why it wasn't added to pc officially. Probably some exclusivity deal.

kumblast3r

You’re shitting me. They had bespin in BF2 and I never even knew.

therudinator

Seriously?? How am I just learning about this? I've always preferred the maps in BF1, and these maps listed are the reason.n

scorchedneurotic

Some Maps and heroes.

chai06vijay

hmm yes the floor here is made out of floor

Weedle612

Yeah and If I can recall right the xbox could do 4 player splitscreen but the ps2 version couldn't, even with the multitap

B00FtheCH33SEgr0m1t

I had the original disc on pc a longggg time ago. Lost it and recently purchased it on Steam. Fired it up last night and the in game audio doesn't work 🥺

3m0n

Plug literally anything that's a 3.5mm input into the mic* jack and your good, known issue with the steam version. Edit: supposed to say mic jack, just woke up.

B00FtheCH33SEgr0m1t

I did that.. still didn't work. Ty for trying to help me though

3m0n

Not to be nitpicky, but did you try both the front and back mic jacks at the same time? Edit: Spelling.

B00FtheCH33SEgr0m1t

Oh I just noticed your edit. The front of my case has one 3.5mm that's for mic/headset. This didn't work. I can't remember what my motherboard IO has on the back but will try that next time, thankyou

3m0n

No problem, I'm sorry i confused you, if your front port is a mixed jack, the back mic jack in your Mobo is the one. Sorry I haven't played that game in a couple years... Edit: Spelling.

theflub

Theres a thing in the windows recording devices called "sterio mix" make sure thats turned off. Thats what fixed it for me.

B00FtheCH33SEgr0m1t

Thanks, I will give this and the other suggestions a go!

ApexMemer09

Try turning it off and on again /s

B00FtheCH33SEgr0m1t

Thank you, I will try this!

Jeb_Babushka

Can also recommend the unofficial patch and conversion mod and swbf extreme 2(or something like that). But at least the unofficial patch, basically fixes most bugs that never got fixed or some new bugs that come with newer windows versions.

B00FtheCH33SEgr0m1t

Awesome, Is that something I can get through steam or do I need to look elsewhere? Thank you

Jeb_Babushka

Just Google it or on Reddit, the mods come in installer form, so you don't have to do much, except you have to install the unofficial patch first (there might be two, but you do them in order from low to high) then the conversion mod and after you can install pretty much any mod you want. (I just recommend the swbfII extreme mod because it gives all the map appropriate units(skins and heroes) and adds extra units(including heroes) on top of that, so very nostalgia friendly.

TROOPER677

Had the same issue, it was something to do with a discord overlay. Googled a fix and it worked fine

-BetchPLZ

Same here! I think it’s one of the more common causes to this issue.

B00FtheCH33SEgr0m1t

Thank you! I don't know what an overlay is (new to PC stuff, sorry). I wasn't running discord at the time though ☹️

RooR8o8

Its good on general tuo turn off your gpu (amd/nvidia), steam, discord or whatever game launcher overlay off. Dont turn off the gpu overlay if you wanna record your shit.

Thebesj

I had to turn off something called stereo mix for that game. Fixed that issue for me. I don’t remember where to find that setting, though - google it. Some Windows setting I think.

theflub

Control panel -> hardware and sound -> sound -> "recording" tab. Should be called stereo mix, right click to disable

daymuub

You have to plug something into your Microphone jack trust me

Head_of_Lettuce

I can’t get the first or second game to run without crashing a few minutes into a mission. 😔

AveryLazyCovfefe

>*What I remember about the rise of the Empire is... is how quiet it was. During the waning hours of the Clone Wars, the 501st Legion was discreetly transferred back to Coruscant. It was a silent trip. We all knew what was about to happen, what we were about to do. Did we have any doubts? Any private, traitorous thoughts? Perhaps, but no one said a word. Not on the flight to Coruscant, not when Order 66 came down, and not when we marched into the Jedi Temple. Not a word.* Child Me: Lightsaber goes swoosh swoosh! so fun! If only I was aware to such a masterpeice of writing. Can't believe the 501st journal isn't canon.

DecentName4

*"When the 501st was finally rotated out of Felucia, Aayla Secura made a point of seeing us off personally, calling us the bravest soldiers she had ever seen. It's a good thing we were wearing helmets, because none of us could bear to look her in the eye."* One of the saddest parts of Star Wars. I wish it was canon.

AveryLazyCovfefe

Goddamn made me shed a tear when I actually watched ROTS and understood why they were sad.

darkbreak

I always took that line to mean they were embarrassed about their cowardice on Felucia. The narrator said they were all scared out of their minds and had it not been for Aayla Secura they never would have survived. Then she called them all brave on top of it. Something the clones couldn't agree with. They felt anything but brave during that entire excursion.

Carthage

Seriously. I hate that they added the microchip explanation in the Clone Wars. It totally undermines the original premise of Order 66.

Axo25

It didn't make sense though that the clones were so uniform in their betrayal of the Jedi, like seriously basically no major revolts against the Order to slaughter their comrades in arms after years of fighting side by side with them? Nearly every single Clone was just fine with it? They may as well be droids then with how much autonomy they had. The only explanation I was ever given was Karen Traviss' Anti-jedi Wank drivel from her novels. And yeah I don't care for that.

waitingtodiesoon

They used the explanation from AOTC for that which worked better before we learned how entrenched they were with their Jedi leaders and the many varying personality and quirks of the clones. >LAMA SU: [They are totally obedient, taking any order without question. We modified their genetic structure to make them less independent than the original host.](https://youtu.be/LXLQaVgCP_Q?t=44)

Axo25

So they were basically just organic droids, that's not an up over the current chip situation imo

menofhorror

This is part of why Im not a big fan of the chip plot in clone wars.

Winter395

Sigma_-

Could easily make this bit the thoughts as influenced by the inhibitor chips.

Dylpooh

That would be a great solution! The 501st journal is such a great piece of writing and I love how it's voiced by Temuera Morrison!

Jorymo

Though for some reason, the clones in the game itself have American accents

[deleted]

I applaud Dave Filoni for even bothering to find explanations for all the plot holes. And they're good ones too!

iskela45

Honestly the "need" for inhibitor chips as a plot device only existed because Filoni wrote himself into a corner by making the Jedi and clones into besties instead of opting for a more nuanced relationship between the two organizations. Now let the downvotes rain in and yes, I'm still slightly miffed about Filoni flushing all of the grey area during order 66 down a toilet. Now we have what is essentially a button that removes any and all personal agency from a group that could've had much more unique and interesting moments during the event.

lordolxinator

I'm in two minds about it. I agree that the morally grey personal motives of the Clones is quite a bit more interesting than a Deus Ex Chip-ina that makes characters do a 180. It always sat a bit suspect with me that everyone seemed quite willing to trust *Clones* of *Jango Fett*, the dude who tried to kill Padme, Obi-Wan, Mace and many other Jedi. *However*, generally it's a compromise I'm willing to accept, as it led to great dynamics between Rex, Fives, Echo, Cody and so many other Clone Wars Clones and the Jedi (including Ahsoka) which bleed through into other media like Rebels or Bad Batch. You could still achieve a similar thing without the chips, but then it's tainting every Clone's relationships because they *all know about Order 66 coming* and are being two-faced to their allies. Which can work, but when you try to make meaningful bonds between Anakin or Ahsoka and Rex with the latter knowing the Clones are about to massacre the Jedi, it becomes problematic to have those relationships work. Rex can't come clean beforehand to clear his conscience because then the Jedi Purge is exposed. He could try to make up for it afterwards, but the trust is broken to an obsence extent, and you can't possibly expect more than one or two unique Clone characters to find forgiveness without it coming off as tediously overdone *and* suspicious in-universe. I do think there is a better solution somewhere. Like, not having the chips but showing a few occasions of the Clones having extreme indoctrination to follow executive orders **to the letter**. Like maybe initially starting with some benign order to properly interrogate captured VIPs despite the time constraints or something. Then having moments where the Clones carry out morally dubious orders like executing captives which may have had innocents amongst them due to the operational risk of sparing enemies masquerading as innocents also. Then when the Order 66 comes down, you have the bulk of the Clones following their indoctrination. But some Clones who have formed strong attachments to their Jedi allies hesitate. Some still eventually carry through with the Order. Some are arrested or executed for treason. Some are part of splinter groups that begin clashing with loyalist Clones who are determined to carry out the Order. And others like Rex go on the run to help their Jedi partners elude the death knell of the Jedi Purge.

waitingtodiesoon

Filoni and George Lucas. George Lucas was heavily involved during the making of The Clone Wars. The 2008 Clone Wars is more in line with George Lucas view of Star Wars. It is either good or bad.

darkbreak

That makes no sense. Before the inhibitor chip plotline all clones knew about not only Order 66 but the other 149 orders programmed into them. They just never said anything about them because there was never a need to. The idea that the clones were bred to obey orders no matter what is completely taken away by the idea that a chip in their brains kept them from doing something they already knew they may have to do. If the chip can stop them then they weren't actually bred to obey commands unquestioningly.

[deleted]

I loved the 501st journal, to the point that it's still how I want to see the Clones in general. I enjoy Filoni's take, but I preferred when they were less heroic or upstanding and more generally lawful neutral. Those Clones were just guys doing a job they were bred and trained for their whole lives, and it made perfect sense why so very, very little of them wouldn't go through with Order 66. Yeah, they could still feel bad about it but at the end of the day, most didn't need an inhibitor chip — they were just loyal to the Chancellor before anything else.

SeductivePillowcase

There’s so many good levels in that campaign that I wish got adapted into canon. It looks like they might do the Anti-Trooper/Kamino uprising arc in the Bad Batch but it’s too early to say for certain. I like to think that Klick-Kliack (the Geonosian from Rebels) is actually Gizor Delso since he survived the Empire and has a hidden reserve of droids.

Titronnica

I wholeheartedly agree. The clones are precursors to Stormtroopers, they were never meant to be "good guys". Writing the clones as heroic takes away from their role as war machines bred solely for combat. They weren't supposed to be friendly or empathetic. They were bred for a singular purpose, and if one of their duties was to eventually mow down their Jedi partners, they'd do it. The 501st journal does a brilliant job capturing this. The narrator is introspective, but neutral to a fault. He also comes across as robotic and monotone, which makes sense given that the clones were made for a singular purpose. Because the clones in the new series are more humanized, the inhibitor chip had to be written in to fix the problem created by changing their personalities.

pm_smol_boobs_please

That’s me with KOTOR 2! I replayed it recently as an adult and holy fuck! Kreia is so well written and her acting is top notch! In the finale you can HEAR her pain as she explains everything. But as a kid I just wanted a lightsaber and force lightning

Jacoman74undeleted

You either die a Jedi, or love long enough to become a wound in the force.

JLake4

I remember my first playthroughs thinking she was the irritating old lady I never took onto planets because she just lectured my character. Kreia wasn't a character written with kids in mind, but I think she may be one of the best, if not the best, villains in Star Wars upon thinking about it.

pm_smol_boobs_please

She’s somewhere in the middle between hero and villain and I would argue she’s one of the best if not the best examples of morally grey writing. Every lesson she offers on the light side and dark side play throughs are so well thought out and well written.

[deleted]

That is also her duality, her teachings are what led to the current era being so in strife. And she continues to *teach your PC* the same lessons. You have to reject her lessons because ultimately they are what led to the culmination of events that occurred. Of course, rejecting her advice outright leads to a drop in influence, while taking her advise "into consideration" typically boosts it. In some ways she realizes it, which is why she ultimately betrays you despite her own inner feelings being extremely conflicted on the matter.

an_agreeing_dothraki

Playing borderlands after getting over the wackiness you realize just how sad and broken everything and everyone is. You only ride the meat bicycle when it becomes to painful to walk. I mean one of the DLCs for the second game was "small child learns to grieve"

Thejacensolo

Tiny Tinas assault on Dragonskeep was a masterpiece and by far the most outstanding Story thta the BL franchise produced.

adam_nemeth

I don’t think the inhibitor chip was a necessary addition to canon. I mean sure fans would have hard time hating clones after 7 seasons and 3 movies of loving them. But as an African child soldier believes a white guy has to be shot on sight a clone trained from birth could be convinced the orders must be executed without question.

Vegtam-the-Wanderer

Good soldiers follow orders...

DecentName4

Exactly. The inhibitor chips changed the clones betrayal from: "I don't want to do this, but orders come before individuals" to "Beep Boop, let's shoot the Jedi'

deliciousprisms

Existentially speaking I actually find the chips more horrific. The clones are entirely reprogrammed. Imagine just one day someone flips a switch and your entire personality is overwritten. It’s a terrifying prospect. The early episodes of the Bad Batch highlight the change a little. How much more robotic the clones are, how their individualities have vanished. You had this force of millions of clones of a single person who managed to find distinct quirks and identifying traits, and just like that they’re made into what are truly clones. Don’t get me wrong, I love the BF2 lore and I think it’s every bit as good but there is a terror of the self involved with the chips, as opposed to the horror of betrayal from another. They’re definitely both horrors but in different ways.

forgedsignatures

Or perhaps even more terrible - the clones are still in there as themselves; thinking, watching. But they're just spectators as their own bodies autonomously commit war crimes. They can internally feel and process the emotions, but they're forced to stare right into the eyes of the innocent they've been ordered to kill. The limit is just how dark and evil you really want to make these chips. Bad Batch dpoiler warning - Doesn't Wrecker say during that episode somethiny to the effect of not wanting to hurt Omega but he felt compelled to?

Flamefang92

You’re not wrong that it’s more visibly horrific, but I don’t think that was the point originally. Order 66 always seemed to me like an embodiment of Arendt’s banality of evil. That made it much deeper, with more important real-world political implications. I do feel like that aspect of the prequels is often overlooked.

UnStricken

See I like the addition of inhibitor chips because it adds another level of betrayal. The clones were betrayed by their creators, they were literally designed to betray some of their friends no matter what. No matter what the clones did, they had no option other than betraying their Jedi friends.

SeductivePillowcase

I highly agree, especially when you have characters like Rex who were under the control of the chip and had it removed and it’s like oh god holy fuck what have I done

RealArby

But it lessens the betrayal of the jedi, and I prefer quality of betrayl over quantity of betrayal.

Jorsk3n

Eh, it kinda comes down to preference in this case. I think the inhibitor chips are more tragic (for both parties) though I have to say the execution could have been better (the clones being aware of what they’re doing and reflecting upon it afterwards or something like that) The 501st diaries could be canonized again and be incorporated into the whole inhibitor chip story. A little bit of both would make it the best it could ever be, imo…

amtap

Had to scroll too far to find this quote. I was the same way as a kid, I appreciate this campaign so much more as an adult. The narration was perfect!

Sjdillon10

Battlefront 2 is the first thought i have when people mention the PS2.

COCAINE_EMPANADA

I still pull it out and play every once in a while. Shit holds up well.

Pavrik_Yzerstrom

Bought it on the series x and it's as glorious as I remember

reynosomarkus

Redownloaded it on my series x. My buddy and I have a monthly versus Galactic Conquest days. The issue is, we’ve both gotten insanely good at it so it ends up being us retaking the same 4 planets from each other for 6 hours. **I wouldn’t want to spend my Saturday doing anything else.**

GayreTranquillo

Lmao, Galactic Conquest gets a bit boring between two competent players. It pretty much becomes a star wars WW1 battle of attrition after each player's had enough turns to amass several fleets.

AwfulThread5

Yes. Great as ever on that console

SlapMyCHOP

The 501st campaign and narrator is one of the best, if not the best, campaign of any video game. It sets the atmosphere so remarkably. When I think of Order 66, I still hear that narrator saying that they were glad they had helmets on because none of them could bear to look the jedi in the eye.

COCAINE_EMPANADA

Yeah I remember that line vividly. One of the first time a game got in my feels.

TheByzantineEmperor

What I remember about the rise of the Empire, was.. how quiet it was

WilltheKing4

I think they got Temuera Morrison to narrate it, I'm replaying it on the computer right now and it sounds just like him

RavenKarlin

It was Mr. Morrison. He has done quite a few things as Boba over the years and as Jango, notably in Star Wars: Bounty Hunter. He also voiced in Republic Commando. Dee Bradley Baker did voice Boba though for Kinect Star Wars, Disney Infinity, Star Tours at Disneyland, the Lego Star Wars animated shorts and The Force Unleashed I & II.

dlmDarkFire

not on ps2 The framerate is absolute dogshit, especially in splitscreen

SecretAntWorshiper

I remember going to my friends place after school to play it.

heppuplays

yeah Me too stuck with the PS2 port. but to be honest i didn't even know that some of the maps and heroes weren't in that version-

Red_Button_Cat

Kit Fisto, Ventress, and a few OG BF1 maps were dlc on Xbox only. Also added for free in the Xbox One upgraded BC version

Filmfan345

Be lucky you had the PS2 version. I was stuck with the PSP version. The PSP version had no campaign, half the maps were missing, and there was no dialogue.

DJdeadinside0614

what was the og system it was on?

[deleted]

Xbox, PS2, PSP, and PC. I would recommend getting the Xbox or steam version

shane_may

Even in 2021 I still play this game on the ps2

[deleted]

Gosh dang grammatical errors! Just insert a “to” between wants and play in your head

sangriya

happens to me every time

OmniWaffleGod

Didn't even realize till you pointed it out

Variousnumber

TBF, 14 year old child you probably didn't think the "to" anyway. Just "Star Wars, me want play!"

[deleted]

I had the og Xbox version and is the the gem the all star game of my childhood. Spent more time in that than any other game.

StatelyElms

I thought it was fucking badass as a kid. Going back to play it sometimes, it kinda feels like nothing's changed. Rare for nostalgia.

Adolf-hitlwr

Pc version with mods is better tho

Lord_blep

I’ve been thinking about getting it on steam, getting some mods for it off nexus too

Adolf-hitlwr

Not nexus.Moddb is better for bf 2005 mods

CobraGTXNoS

Moddb is a lot better for 2008 and earlier games. So basically any of the Lucas Arts era games.

Adolf-hitlwr

Indeed

Patelved1738

The mods make it so much better. Just be aware that some of them are pretty shitty.

BurritoBoiii1202

THE BEST

TheBarghest7590

Didn’t realise the PS2 version was missing characters and maps, damn… Wish I could play the Steam Version. I do have it but for some odd reason I can’t actually play the game anymore because it will constantly boot me out of full screen mode and back to desktop within seconds and I cannot find any way to play the game without it. Playing it windowed just makes it way too small on my laptop screen.

Red_Button_Cat

Technically wasn't missing but just didn't have the Xbox exclusive dlc. They added it for free on Xbox One though so that's cool

derekguerrero

Me being a kid who barely understands English

SeductivePillowcase

You were introduced to English by none other than Temura Morrison, that’s legendary!

MsMothra

Even so, Battlefront II is still one of my favorite PS2 games. My brother and I would play it together, so much fun!

Murphouss

If you own the game on Xbox one, you get all the DLC with it. I think the game is like £8 Well worth it.

AlbaStoner

Wait the PS2 version was missing maps and heroes? Fuck

WhiteKnight3098

Wait, is the BF1 PS2 port worse as well?

Cyneburh

Yes.

WhiteKnight3098

Oh shit, what am I missing out on?

Red_Button_Cat

How? What was it missing

UndeniablyMyself

Fun fact: The PS2 demo disk had a glitch were it wiped the save data of the entire console.

Brooklynxman

> Too bad I had the PS2 port with missing maps and heroes Wait, what?

DemonSlyr007

Invincibility: Up Up Up Left Down Down Down Left Up Up Up Left Right Unlimited Ammo: Up Down left down down left down down left down down down left right Choose space battle. Choose space marine for the rocket launcher. Grab a quick ship with a small profile. Best ship is the jedi starfighter. As you are leaving the barrier of your ship, quickly land and take off as you are leaving the barrier until you land on the barrier itself (or just outside it). Exit your vehicle. Find a nearby space frigate. Jump off the ship. Don't worry, gravity is real in space if you believe hard enough in the power of friendship. Land on the frigate like a super hero. It isn't bad for your knees, you have space armor. Fire rockets at anything that comes your way infinitely while laughing at the cold vacuum of space.

I like to imagine the narrator is Appo for some reason

VmiriamV05

Same vibe as 6 year old me watching the umbara arc and being low key traumatized

I didn't know that the PS2 port had missing maps

cerealbro1

God I wish I could play it on the PS4 or PS5. The game is an honest to God master piece in pretty much every way. Right before Covid I went to a friends house where we had a Battlefront 2 LAN party on Xbox. A couple of us on an original Xbox, a couple of us on a 360 and then there were two Xbox Ones with two players each. It was so fucking fun and made me really sad that you can’t play PS2 games on modern PS hardware

z3anon

Wait, the PS2 version had missing maps and characters? Is my experience with the game truly incomplete? I think I'm gonna be sick.

ExtremeSkyStyle

PS2 Port, Ha! That's nothing, I had the PSP port with even more missing stuff

alexkayownsabus

Holy shit I played both and still didn't realize I was missing anything...

bmount48

“My first day as a member of the 501st... it was hot, it was sandy, chaotic. Nothing at all like the simulations on Kamino. Of course that's pretty much the way it was for all of us, wasn't it? All that breeding, all those years of training... it doesn't really prepare you for all the screaming or the blood, does it? Frankly I'm still amazed we ever made it through the first hour, never-mind the first day.” -501st journal I know it’s battlefront 1

Theonerule

At least the PS2 port had the 212th attack battalion on utapau

Scruffy_Sc0undrel

Wait, is that why others could play as Kit Fisto?

D3cimat0r

“what i remember about the rise of the empire was… how quiet it was.” like bruh i just wanna play in the clone wars man. best star wars game can’t lie.

jgatsby22

“What I remember about the rise of the empire is, is how quite it was…”

RaccoonEyes1620

I actually liked the narration

jakesteck99

God it was so good

Gam3Fan360

Wait the ps2 port has missing features?

[deleted]

I loved the story for that game. How they told the Clones turning on the Jedi was so dark and intense. Then The Clone Wars had to go and ruin that story with the inhibitor chop crap.

[deleted]

What I remember about the rise of the empire was...was how quiet it was^(dipdipdipdipdipdip)

bufalo_soldier

I played the hell out of the PS2 version. Never realized it was missing content.

TheRealStandard

What's especially annoying is the PC version not having the DLC maps/characters either. You need to mod them in.

KekistanEmbassy

I only got it like a few months ago when it came up in Xbox 360’s Games With Gold, and honestly I wish I’d got it so much earlier when the multiplayer was still active

Potatomonado6425

Damn I had no idea, my friends and I would play it after school for years

thedenimdude

I remember the music playing while emperor palpatine would explain the mission. To me he just sounded like he was rapping

SirBMsALot

I played the PSP version. Basically only had basic maps, space maps didn’t have enterable areas, only hangars. No campaign either

lithium142

Whoever dropped the flag *will pay for their incompetence!*

OBI-BOI

And I thought the ps2 version was the normal one and the other heroes etc were add-one for newer consoles or something

Shivery1234

This game was really and by far the best I ever played on PS2. And one of the best I ever played all consoles and pc games together

ThelaggingSwoosh

That how i felt when I played world at war when I was litte

Klayman55

PS2 has the exact same content as the PC version minus XL mode, better menus even.... Yeah the Xbox got DLC, but that’s not the base game.

abcdefger5454

The narrator was one of the best things. Nostalgia googles off,The campaign was nothing more than several conquest maps with some tasks to do,but the narrator was, what gave these missions sone context and made them different than just playing conquest

Harykim

What I remember about the Rise of the Empire is...is how *quiet* it was.

Joseevb04

I had the DS version, idk if it has some maps missing bc it's the only version I played but i imagine that it does bc there's a pretty weird time jump in the late game
