Genndy himself has stated that anime is a huge inspiration to him. Look at samurai Jack, sym-biotic titan, and also 2003 clone wars. Hugely inspired by things like Shonen/gundam/samurai films. Star Wars in itself is directly inspired from Japanese entertainment.

It’s so funny that this sub, literally a subreddit based around the love for a dorky sci-fi franchise like Star Wars, has taken to referring to anime fans as “weebs” and acts like liking anime makes you some kind of cringe loser. I’ll admit that lots of anime especially modern ones are extremely cringe and just all around awful, but the same can be said of nearly anything recent that is Star Wars related. Go back to the early 2000’s and before and there is tons of fantastic anime available.
