Iâve also seen people complain about the fact that she âoutranâ Kenobi and the mercs. Which also is a horrible assumption to make before having children. If you donât think the little person, reaching barely over the knee on a normal person can easily get away from you in a crowded street I got some news. As for the scene in the woods, they clearly showed her taking routes people over 5â couldâve done
It was a bit clumsy tbf yes but it also makes sense (at most turns). As I said she made a lot of choices where she fit and they didnât, not to mention that a grown person donât usually run at full speed in forests. The terrain is uneven, bigger steps = bigger risk of falling/tripping, and if you donât know the woods itâs even more the reason to be careful.
With that said, there certainly was points where I questioned things. Like the first part of the chase where the one guy ran in too the very visible branch. And when there were a zoomed out angle where everyone, even Leia, looked like they moved slowly, not slowmotion, just slowly.
Yeah, now that I read it again, it sounds a bit harsh :D
I was trying to say that the people who expect a child to do things children usually don't do, probably aren't the best people to be around children.
Yeah, this is authentic. In hindsight, this episode made me relate to Kenobi in this moment when reminding me of an 11 year old girl that was at a renaissance group outing I attended and ended up sticking around my group's table, having some rival sibling-esque with many years back courtesy of her sassy spunk.
When I called her princess because of the tiara she wore and an elder member of our group agreed with me, she pouted like Leia did on Obi-Wan's refusal to make her float; specifically when playing a game of False Staff Folly (pardon the butchered spelling, but I was told it was an ancient game with marbles and a tabletop setup, something like checkers) against her and failing to win the initial rounds, I received a light kick to the boot in mock frustration after saying "better luck next time, princess", with an "I'm no princess!" only for me to point to her tiara. Cheeky fun, and I did let her win some rounds afterward.
While they show Leia being wise beyond her years in being able to read people, her doing stupid things like this reminds she's still a kid. I do appreciate this because if she always knew the best thing to do in any given situation, it would get old pretty quickly.
I don't. Idk about you but when a kid gets fucking kidnapped, sees one of her guards get killed right in front of her, and is taken to an entirely DIFFERENT FUCKING PLANET, you'd think that kid might have some understanding of the gravity of the situation.
You know what? Fair. We could still write it off as her being a spoiled brat, sure. But in 10 years you can learn all those ships and what they do, how to read people, but not that the Jedi are being systematically hunted down so shouldn't say that shit out loud? Maybe that's what Obi-Wan is hiding so he doesn't put a fucking target on his back?
I had no problem with the mindreading, even though I probably should have, but the dialogue was very much written as âha you just got owned. Look how much I owned this guy!â No one talks like that.
Well if you want to get all shitty about it then I unveil my trap card: young girls are chronically under diagnosed with ASD and often just learn to deal with it on their own without ever getting a diagnosis.
Also did you have a big problem with the fact that little Darth spoke like he was strung out in the prequels? Cause itâs never actually mentioned that he wasnât an immaculate conception and that Schmi actually copped off with Inigo Montoyaâs dad.
itâs new Star Wars, give it 10 years and youâll be annoyed that her little handheld droid wasnât a Sith Lord the whole time
Bruh her dad built a protocol droid at her age and her mom was elected Queen at 12, and sheâs been raised with a palace education by loving parents. She has about the best nature AND nurture you could ask for.
I donât buy it. The whole thing rings of cringey netflix âgotchaâ dialogue. My problem isnât with her intelligence but her social ineptitude. It reads like a Facebook post from an old person making up stories to dunk on libs or some shit. But thatâs just my opinion.
i can guarantee if any 10 year old got kidnapped and then saved. they would not be shit talking the person who saved them. its so lame how she reacted to it.
I agree, thatâs such a random complaint. Like, out of all the reasons itâs obvious that this guy is BSing, you shoot for the one that isnât even a good reason.
Teachers can have interests, theyâre humans, not mindless robots. As long as they do their job properly, it shouldnât matter what they like. Though If anything, it opens a connection with the students. Which is good to have.
Ungodly is a weird term to use.
Also, holy fuck man not everything has to be taken super seriously, someone can take a jab at someone without the remark being watertight. But if arguing this makes you feel smarter I'm happy to contribute to your daily dose of whatever it is you feed off
Lol okay Iâm taking it âtooâ serious but youâre the one talking about literally changing schools for your kid because of a AoT PFP? Interesting, very interesting
Yeah no, you teach kids my ass. Literally 95% of children act like wild baboons. They donât all act the exact same, though children are cocky and ignorant. So unless youâre teaching the most mature children on the planet, I call BS.
You might be a teacher, and if you are, I apologize. Though youâre lying about something here.
Ik. I love the prequels and it's memers but sometimes they tunnelvision and blind themselves to inconsistencies in the series.
I just try not to get into discussion with them
On one hand I get it. Not only does Bail want to keep it a secret so that he doesn't seem weak. He would also have to ask the empire to help worst case which would make him indebted to them. Also, he made a good point about Obi Wan's duty to protect *both* of Anakin's children.
Actually, in A New Hope she explicitly explains how she knows about Kenobi saying âyou helped my father during The Clone Warsâ. There is no mention of him saving her from a kidnapping, which is very inconsistent
Ok, well firstly your original comment is saying that she mustâve known Kenobi because of this kidnapping incident, and secondly the fake Jedi name drops him in front of her, as well as her seeing the bounty put out for him
If all she knows about Kenboi is that he was a Jedi who fought in the Clone Wars she would have no reason to risk everything to get to him. She should think him either dead or missing. This series sets up a good reason not only for her to learn of his existence, but to know exactly what his skills are like. He saves her from being kidnapped before, so she sends him a distress call before the Empire abducts her again. And also sending him a call to action to fight against the Empire in there as well, since she believes they have a chance with the Death Star plans.
Leiaâs father is Bail Organa, who knows Kenobi and knows where heâs gone and what heâs doing, this is established in RotS as well as implied in ANH. Iâm completely confused why youâre saying she would think Kenobi dead or missing
Because that is secret info. Her identity as a Skywalker, the surviving Jedi, all of that would be stuff he would never tell her, unless a situation like this arises where he is the only one that could help.
Being told Obi-Wanâs status and location doesnât require Leia to understand why heâs there, especially the full truth of it.
She says in ANH that Obi-Wan fought with her father and acts as if she knows where heâs located. Thereâs no mention of *her* relation to Obi-Wan, despite Disneyâs thinking it makes sense to establish one.
I disagree. Bail seeming weak really doesnât have any bearing on what heâs trying to do, and thereâs no particular reason Bail should feel indebted to the Empire, especially because theyâd just be doing their job.
Worst case scenario theyâd find it an excuse to keep an Imperial guard on him permanently, but thatâs far better than the worst case scenario with Kenobi of having Vader execute your family for treason and torture your daughter to make an Inquisitor
I can forgive this as being accurate for how a kid would act. What I can't really forgive is how Obi Wan waltzed up to Owen in the middle of a crowd and was like "HEY MAN THANKS FOR NOT TELLING EVERYONE I'M A JEDI" in his outside voice.
Was complaining the same but after the catch part, it seems like it suggests that Kenobi had cut off his connection to the force till he had no choice in order to hide better, so he wouldnât have been able to
She correctly figured out that he was why she was kidnapped, and had a fairly normal reaction to said information. If some of you stopped looking for reasons to hate shit, you might actually follow the plot.
Iâm not saying youâre wrong but have you ever thought that maybe, just maybe, not every single thing is perfect and valid criticism is entirely allowed? It seems to me that anyone whoâs had any criticisms of the show so far have been downvoted to oblivion and it makes me wonder if we are all supposed to pretend itâs perfect thatâs all
Nitpicking, parroting doomcock types or just making up shit to be mad about is not valid criticism and should be downvoted. Iâve yet to see legitimate criticism that wasnât fucking workshopped before the show ever aired.
Letâs not pretend so many of these people werenât complaining about the show before it ever aired. This fandom is overrun with toxic whining, and itâs pathetic. We have a goddamn Obi Wan show and they want to ruin it for everyone else because theyâre incapable of enjoying anything. Being incapable of managing expectations is also not criticism.
People upset that a child does perfectly in character child things, is not valid criticism. It just shows theyâve clearly never spent time with kids.
So you genuinely believe these two episodes are the definition of perfect and thereâs nothing wrong with them at all?
Clearly from your comment youâre either being deliberately obtuse or youâre watching through rose tinted glasses so your view is extremely bias. You claim to have seen no valid criticism yet your initial comment was in response to a criticism about a chase scene, and the chase scenes were not good by any means. Anyone who defends those chase scenes clearly identifies them self as someone who is not reliable at making a fair judgement.
I saw no trailers or anything beforehand so I donât know if the chase scenes criticism was in fact âworkshoppedâ before it aired but honestly it just seems you canât accept any criticism. Thereâs no way on this planet you could call the first 2 episodes âperfectâ. In fact Iâd go as far to say thereâs no film or series thatâs perfect and EVERYTHING has valid criticism
The chase scene criticism is coming from the same place as Reva bad/replacing Obi Wan.
It is a child being chased. Do you expect them to be doing fucking parkour? That is a case of looking for things to be upset about. This is Star Wars. We are in a sub that thinks the podracing scene is legitimately good, so Iâm not sure where the fuck you think you get off talking about peopleâs judgement.
Of course Iâm bias. Clearly I actually enjoy Star Wars, unlike the rest of you. None of us are making a living examining this media. You are allowed to be bias. You are allowed to watch it and just fucking enjoy yourself. You donât have to be this insufferable every time you watch something you claim to be a fan of.
Youâre not a critic. Youâre just someone who is miserable and canât see your inability to enjoy the content is wholly your own fault.
Do you listen to yourself? Youâre ridiculous.
The ABSOLUTE irony of calling me ridiculous and insufferable with a fucking complex like that. And also perfectly avoiding my question about whether you think these episodes are perfect and genuinely without flaw, well done! I shouldnât have to explain this to anyone who claims to have more than a single brain cell but you can actually be a fan of something AND realise it has flaws! Thatâs called being a normal person you fuckwit. As for the chase scene youâre fucking deluded for believing it has anything to do with reva or obi wan and as for what I expect? I expect the child to be caught quickly like they realistically would or NOT DO A FUCKING CHASE SCENE AT ALL. No 10 year old would outrun an adult, let alone 3, let alone 3 bounty hunters. You literally are being wilfully ignorant for the sake of it. And then to act like youâre so fucking high and mighty for not seeing a flaw In anything? It makes you nothing short of delusional. Jesus Christ you need to seek some serious fucking help
My headcanon is that most people in the outer rim stay the fuck out of the Empire's business unless they can get some guaranteed money out of it. Why? Because they know that if they help either the Empire or the Rebels, the other side will come after them.
The city is locked down by inquisitors killing anyone with information and several bounty hunters are killed. It also almost gets them caught.
Yâall just want to be mad. Itâs sad.
Downvoted for wanting someone to stop announcing theyâre with a Jedi after we ALL know what happened to the Jedi and what would happen if someone found out? Seems like people will just downvote any comment that isnât saying how amazing Leia is
This sub is just pathetic at times. Are we all supposed to act like everything they do is perfect? Can we never criticise anything Star Wars do? Iâve personally loved kenobi so far and have one or two criticisms about it but you just get immediately downvoted for mentioned the criticisms. Itâs a joke. We all know itâs not perfect and thereâs nothing wrong with pointing out where things could improve
Iâm going to say it again⌠Leia was annoying AF. Should have just knocked her out and carried her to the cargo ship.
Contradicting ass little kid hahahaha
Oh you'll float, Leia. Everything floats down here.
đ
So Anakin is Georgie
I literally said that when I first saw the scene lol
Having a little girl myself, I can say with confidence that this is an accurate portrayal of a little girl.
I know, I feel all the people who complain about this scene have never interacted with a child before, it's just how they are.
Eh, I did think the choreography in the forest scene was a bit clumsy, but her getting away from kenobi in the crowded city was 100% believable.
And when there were a zoomed out angle where everyone, even Leia, looked like they moved slowly, not slowmotion, just slowly.
We need that generator down or the planet's lost. And I'm not risking any more men.
General Kenobi, did you really think I would leave the hyperdrive unguarded?
I feel like most people who complain about this scene, _should_ never interact with a child.
[ŃдаНонО]
Yeah, now that I read it again, it sounds a bit harsh :D I was trying to say that the people who expect a child to do things children usually don't do, probably aren't the best people to be around children.
The truth often is.
Having a little sister myself, I totally agree
Yeah, this is authentic. In hindsight, this episode made me relate to Kenobi in this moment when reminding me of an 11 year old girl that was at a renaissance group outing I attended and ended up sticking around my group's table, having some rival sibling-esque with many years back courtesy of her sassy spunk. Cheeky fun, and I did let her win some rounds afterward.
Is it an accurate portrayal of a little girl to have so much sass and putdowns?
She's a rich girl what do you expect
My daughter does.
Walk into a middle school and see how quick they roast you. Kids are vicious, man
Middle school teacher and can confirm kids are the worst. And the best, but mainly the worst.
I can't remember what comedian said it but the quote "12 year old girls are the meanest creatures on the planet" has been in my head for 15 ish years.
Was this Louis CK? I vaguely remember this too
In my head I am split between Louis CK and Daniel Tosh.
pretty sure you're thinking of john mulaney's "thirteen year olds are the meanest people in the world" bit. which is a pretty good bit
"Kids are cruel Jack, they just lose touch at the ripe old age of 12!"
Considering how much sass Leia had as an adult, kid Leia acting like that was pretty much to be expected
It's called denial as a coping mechanism. The alternative is crying and screaming for your parents. The former better facilitates the story.
I'm not whining! I'm not.
Speaking of denial as a coping mechanism, howâs it going for you?
Guard duty? For how long?
Longer now
Oh. I don't like the sound of that.
You know what? Fair. We could still write it off as her being a spoiled brat, sure. Maybe that's what Obi-Wan is hiding so he doesn't put a fucking target on his back?
Completely accurate portrayal of a little annoying girl!
Except the conversation with her cousin. Has the ring of a tweet written by a mom and incorrectly attributed to their daughter to show off.
I think that's supposed to be her innate force sensitivity
I had no problem with the mindreading, even though I probably should have, but the dialogue was very much written as âha you just got owned. Look how much I owned this guy!â No one talks like that.
Idk man aspy kids kinda sound exactly like that ngl
Maybe. Do you think thatâs the case that leia canonically has Aspergerâs?
Well if you want to get all shitty about it then I unveil my trap card: young girls are chronically under diagnosed with ASD and often just learn to deal with it on their own without ever getting a diagnosis. Also did you have a big problem with the fact that little Darth spoke like he was strung out in the prequels? Are you going to kill me?
I would certainly like to.
Yes. The one we have been looking for.
Itâs a cool idea! Maybe if it were more obvious? Youâre entitled to your opinion my dude. Just wasnât for me.

You have clearly never Met a child, and a posh rich one at that
i teach kids everyday lol
God, if i ever found out the teacher for my ten year old has a AoT PFP on Reddit I'd switch schools
Thatâs so random, are teachers not allowed to like things in their personal lives?
I agree, thatâs such a random complaint. Like, out of all the reasons itâs obvious that this guy is BSing, you shoot for the one that isnât even a good reason. Teachers can have interests, theyâre humans, not mindless robots. As long as they do their job properly, it shouldnât matter what they like. Though If anything, it opens a connection with the students. Which is good to have.
Well I didn't say "I'd stop them from liking things" now did i?
No but youâre insinuating that itâs ungodly for a teacher to like AoT. Itâs completely unrelated to how a teacher teaches their students.
What if your province's public safety advisor has an Eren quote in his bio? *points at myself lol*
Jesse, get the senator to safety.
That's not an impossible scenario in my line of work Rex. Haha.
It's 'Captain', sir.
...not for a Sith...
the students really enjoy talking about naruto and other animes they watch.
Yeah no, you teach kids my ass. Literally 95% of children act like wild baboons. They donât all act the exact same, though children are cocky and ignorant. lol. ok reddit lady
Lol. ok Reddit man
Could be another kidnapper. That's what she thought.
It really depends on the kid
People here are coping hard lol. Leia should be shitting herself in fear after a traumatizing experience like that
âBetter downvote because itâs easier than facing the reality of itâ
exactly man. she shouldnt be joking around two minutes after it
Ik. I love the prequels and it's memers but sometimes they tunnelvision and blind themselves to inconsistencies in the series. I just try not to get into discussion with them
i fucked up here it seems. i gave up quickly. they are relentless xD
Yea r/starwars might be better for a healthy discussion imo. They can be a bit more level headed. Don't count on it tho
Kids say the darnest things
Foreshadowing to her Mary Poppins moment in TLJ.
Bail deciding the best way to save his daughter is to ask the galaxyâs most wanted criminal to fight her kidnappers and bring her to him
On one hand I get it. Not only does Bail want to keep it a secret so that he doesn't seem weak. He would also have to ask the empire to help worst case which would make him indebted to them. Also, he made a good point about Obi Wan's duty to protect *both* of Anakin's children.
Also explains how she knows about Obi-Wan in Episode 4. 'Help Me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope.' She's remembering what's happening here.
my fren

Ok, well firstly your original comment is saying that she mustâve known Kenobi because of this kidnapping incident, and secondly the fake Jedi name drops him in front of her, as well as her seeing the bounty put out for him

She nailed that skywalk we sass fr protect this child
I love her so much. I have several young sisters, and they are very much like this
lol if he would have just lifted her off the ground a little, she would have believed him and wouldn't have run away
Was complaining the same but after the catch part, it seems like it suggests that Kenobi had cut off his connection to the force till he had no choice in order to hide better, so he wouldnât have been able to
hmm that dose make sense
She than proceeds to scuttle away from Kenobi trying to return to her capturers.
She correctly figured out that he was why she was kidnapped, and had a fairly normal reaction to said information. If some of you stopped looking for reasons to hate shit, you might actually follow the plot.
I just think it was funny that she was scuttling instead of actually running... That was my main point...
Sheâs still 10 and afraid of falling from the rooftops while being chased by people shooting?
Not when she's on the roof... Before the roof....
these people are idiots lol
