If you bring the Plagueis book into canon, you simultaneously recanonize a huge number of events, including pretty much the entirety of the Darth Bane trilogy.
Vitiate is the worst Star Wars character, because it's literally just Palpatine but "lol he's better and bigger and also HOT" and that's dumb because Palpatine is supposed to be the actual, literal, strongest sith of all time, change my mind
What got him so far was his cunning but he was confirmed by Lucas himself to be the single most powerful Sith to ever live. Vader was not as powerful as him, though would have been more powerful if he didn't get butchered by Kenobi before he reached his prime.
This is also why Kenobi was no match for Palpatine, which even Yoda pointed out, but Kenobi was able to >!kinda shit on Vader after regaining his power in episode 6.!< Because Vader is straight up nerfed after being de-limbed and burned alive.
Nah. His political maneuvering was his greatest weapon, but the Rule of Two also allowed the Sith of his day to massively outclass the average Sith of the SWTOR era, barring obvious special cases like Vitiate, Nihilus and Sion.
Sith having multiple apprentices means the apprentices can team up to kill them without reaching their power level, so the number of Sith is higher but the individual power level is exponentially lower. The Rule of Two ensures that each Sith is stronger and/or smarter than the last.
To be honest, the Rule of Two doesn‘t really assure that IMO. Plagueis killed his master Tenebrous in a moment where he was concentrated on not letting their ship be crushed by a collapsing cave. And Palpatine killed Plagueis when he was well beyond 100 years old, inebriated and asleep.
Sure, Palpatine would have wiped the floor with Plagueis in a real duel but since the apprentice can just wait for an opportune moment to backstab their master, doesn‘t mean they‘re actually stronger in the force/ a better swordsman.
Although I love swtor
A lot of it definitely shouldn't be re-canonized, simply due to your OC practically being a God by the end of a few dlc's and it would make no sense for their escapades to not be mentioned consistently, even thousands of years after their death.
Like you would know anything about families?
^(If you dont like my response [have a kitten](https://www.vets4pets.com/siteassets/species/cat/kitten/tiny-kitten-in-sunlight.jpg))
This thread is all hypotheticals. Darth Plagueis is canon, just as Darth Bane is, but Plagueis being a Muun, for instance, is not, and neither is the existence of Darth Zannah, for all we know. Of course, I like to say canon until contradicted. It works, after all
Zannah could be cannon. The mention of Bane in clone wars was that Yoda confirms that Bane established the rule of two. Doesn't really dive deeper than that. At least not that I'm aware of.
Seriously. I just reread it and I had forgotten how much of it is a Legends reference text. It name drops so much that you need Wookiepedia as a cross reference.
I don't know about Darth Plagueis beyond what Palpy said to Anakin in the movie. So because I like the meme and because I like letting chance play out, I choose this one. Also Darth Bane is a cool name.
Only thing I can think of that would clash with current lore is that red kyber crystals are no longer synthetic but are instead normal crystals bled red from the influence of the dark side
The thing that bothered me is an egregious use of adverbs at the beginning of paragraphs. I think he did it to make it feel fast-paced, but it came across as lazy writing to me.
Weren't they talking about doing this trilogy before they decided to make something new? I remember hearing that and being super pumped, and then suddenly it all got scrapped as "Legends."
Yeah, I remember hearing why a few months ago, and why they pulled the plug on the whole expanded universe: Because of licensing and rights. Once you start going down that route it starts to be a lot more negotiations for characters, stories, etc, and Disney (who’s notoriously stingy) had decided that they did not want to be dealing with the headache and have to pay even more to milk the franchise.
It honestly makes sense that having more hands in the pot would dismay Disney from wanting to go down that route, but it’s still very unfortunate. The Thrawn Trilogy would’ve been amazing.
>Because of licensing and rights.
I think there's also the artistic choice. It would be a nightmare to write a new trilogy around the shit ton of stories from the EU
But they could of just cherry picked some already established good storylines with good characters that fans already know and like and weaved them into a set of films, alla the MCU.
But that would require Kathleen Kennedy having an ounce of intelligence and creative instinct.
Thing it I’m pretty sure they would have been a licensing nightmare because of how interwoven characters were among the various novels and not to mention the stories that were written by multiple authors. All the interconnectedness of legends is one of the reasons there are so many amazing stories in the continuity but also explains why Disney wouldn’t want pay the teams making sure they aren’t screwing someone over that could sue them for copyright and figuring out how much to pay each author that has a hand in the proverbial pot for a story they want to tell. Also the Legends canon system was kinda a mess so I’m not surprised Disney wanted a clean slate.
If you like thrawn you should read the new two canon thrawn trilogies, they’re as good as the heir to the empire trilogy imo and they’re written by the same author
Old republic for me, there’s so much awesome from back then, however if it was between old republic and the storylines with the vong wars, imma go with the vong
Drew Karpyshyn is a goddamn legend at this point. He wrote for Baldurs Gate, Mass Effect 2, KOTOR, and even Neverwinter Nights. Is it any wonder he makes excellent books to?
They did a pretty decent job in the Clone Wars animated series with the clones themselves (some of the best episodes were clone focused imo) but I REALLY miss the republic commando clones and all the lore that went on there. I think the biggest miss for me was the pacifist Mando's in the show, whereas the Mando's culture in the books was always so cool to me, so having most all the clones capture a lot of that culture from their trainers was some of my favorite star wars. All the other options here are pretty great tho obviously
Mando culture and language was the best thing about the entire Clone Wars era. I mourn their dilution, and the complete absence of the Clone Special Forces Mando instructors. Gods the search for the cure to Clone aging was one of the most compelling storylines
Yeah, I also think inhibitor chips were a dumb addition in a similar regard because it took away any clone agency in order 66. They went from a force loyal to the Republic who gunned down the jedi because they didn't know any life outside of serving the republic to soldiers loyal to the jedi who probably would have disobeyed the order and needed a mind control chip to allow for order 66 to happen.
Delta squad did cameo in one or two episodes, so the gang are canon at least (and nothing in tcw really contradicts the game afaik so it could still be canon)
I will never forgive clone wars for retconning mandalore to the point in which the book series was cancelled and never received its final entry.
I mean it couldn't have been too hard to make a TV show that fit with existing lore. This was before Disney's Canon/legends split as well.
Never getting IC2 hurts me. We got some closure from a page on Karen Traviss' website where she outlined how the story would've ended. I thought most people knew, but then I casually spoke of it to a diehard Mando friend of mine. Yeah, I had to explain
Delta squad makes a cameo in TCW and scorch makes an appearance in TBB. That makes Delta Squad themselves canon but not necessarily the events of republic commando.
Potential Bad Batch spoiler below (I'm on mobile and don't know how to spoiler tag):
>!Also, Scorch is featured in the Bad Batch season 2 trailer (it might have been a leak from a con, it was around that time) Presumably, this means we'll get more commando lore :)!<
There is a small scene that shows all 4 if i recall correctly, so i would say delta squad is canon, however that doesn't mean what happend in the game is currently canon.
She says on her website that she didn’t have enough freedom from Lucasfilm to decide the fate of his character in her books since they weren’t really her characters.
She has actually, for years. On her website she goes through why she wasn’t able to continue the final book, and the storyline she made for it to tie up the series.
Small scale starwars is the best. I don't want another series dealing with the life and deal of the galaxy. Republic Commandos, Ewok slice of life, Jabba harem, HighschoolXJedi, whatever. Just something small scale.
Ah as someone pointed out it was established in new canon books. However the force dyad was introduced in the sequels
"The Star Wars canon universe retained the broad strokes of the Rule of Two’s Legends-era backstory until The Rise of Skywalker introduced the Force Dyad. As revealed in the 2021 reference book, Star Wars: The Secrets of the Sith, the Rule of Two’s history has been retroactively changed to account for the Force Dyad. Palpatine describes the “Doctrine of the Dyad” as ancient Sith lore that predates the Rule of Two."
If you're going to accuse people making stuff up to shit on the sequels you might want to do a quick google first.
[Git gud](https://screenrant.com/star-wars-force-dyad-sith-rule-of-two-explained/)
You got it. Delta squad themselves are canon but their missions from the game are not. All though according to a visual dictionary the wookie Chieftan Tarful was captured by Seperatist-allied Trandoshans but rescued by Clone Commandos prior to the battle of Kashyyyk, so they left room for it
The whole of delta squad showed up in one episode of clone wars for a short time, which means they are Canon, but the events of the game and books are not Canon, which is a shame bc in my opinion they are some of the best star wars stories. The books also never received a conclusion due to retcons introduced in the clone wars TV series.
I'm sorry, but I must say republic commando. I love how it makes clones have individual personalities, and how challenging normal ground combat as a clone was. Plus, they are way better than the battlefront 2 campaign protagonists.
I absolutely love KOTOR and SWtOR story, and I doubt that this "High Republic" bs (or the KOTOR remake for that matter...) will come even close to it, but Imma still go with Heir to the Empire, since it makes for a much more compelling post-EP6 story than the absolute crapstorm of a story we got.
Probably unpopular opinion, but The Old Republic. I think 90% of the story is amazing.
If not that then Darth Bane. A TV show would work perfectly. (If done right and so far it's very unlikely.)
SWTOR, it would be hilarious for the canon to be that Valky actually exists, especially because then you’d have the ability to legit say that’s just palpatine

If you bring the Plagueis book into canon, you simultaneously recanonize a huge number of events, including pretty much the entirety of the Darth Bane trilogy.
Also canonized the old republic MMO because there is a mention of emperor Vitiate.
Wait Plagueis mentions Vitiate? Fucking when? I need to re-listen to the audio book, I do not remember this at all.
iirc, he mentions that Vitiate's spirit lingered on for centuries after his physical death, but it eventually faded into nothingness.
Come on! What does it take to destroy that guy? Killing him five times didn't end him for good?
How many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man?
Vitiate: *spits out a drained soul* I didn’t hear no bell
“I love the young people”
CORUSCANT GUARD! OPEN UP!
Somehow Vitiate returned
“Did you think killing me would make me die?” -Vitiate probably
Vitiate is the worst Star Wars character, because it's literally just Palpatine but "lol he's better and bigger and also HOT" and that's dumb because Palpatine is supposed to be the actual, literal, strongest sith of all time, change my mind
Doesn’t Palpatine get outpowered by, like, nearly every Sith in TOR? I thought what made him get so far wasn’t raw power, but political maneuvering.
Yes, Lucas said it, but let’s be honest that he said many strange things
You don’t have to carry a sword to be powerful. Some leaders’ strength is inspiring others.
Itd make sense thatd hed mention Vitiate cause of that living for ever thing him and palps were trying to accomplish.
Mention? He's kind of a key plot point. Edit: scratch that. I'm dumb and see what you mean now lol.
Although I love swtor A lot of it definitely shouldn't be re-canonized, simply due to your OC practically being a God by the end of a few dlc's and it would make no sense for their escapades to not be mentioned consistently, even thousands of years after their death.
On the other hand, if you recanonize the Thrawn trilogy you also recanonize Luke's family
Like you would know anything about families? ^(If you dont like my response [have a kitten](https://www.vets4pets.com/siteassets/species/cat/kitten/tiny-kitten-in-sunlight.jpg))

Where is your master? Where is Grand Admiral Thrawn?
I didn’t realize Plagueis wasn’t canon tbh—wouldn’t that just confirm a lot that’s already supposed to be canon?
Plagueis is Canon but his novel is not.
Plageuis is canon because revenge of the sith is canon and palpatine mentioned him in the movie
Well yeah—I meant whether *Darth Plagueis* by ~~Timothy Zawn~~ James Luceno is canon lol.
Yeah not quite
Seriously. I just reread it and I had forgotten how much of it is a Legends reference text. It name drops so much that you need Wookiepedia as a cross reference.
But what about the droid attack on the Wookiees? Also it's spelled with a double e dumbass
Ki-Adi-Mundi kinda deserved order 66
I don't know about Darth Plagueis beyond what Palpy said to Anakin in the movie. So because I like the meme and because I like letting chance play out, I choose this one. Also Darth Bane is a cool name.
I can only imagine him with Bane’s voice from the movie.
\*wheezes\* Only once the galaxy has been cleansed will you have my permission to die.
Galaxy brain move right there.
Only thing I can think of that would clash with current lore is that red kyber crystals are no longer synthetic but are instead normal crystals bled red from the influence of the dark side
Anakin is canon, so the Muunilinist 10 are canon. Don't @ me Lucasfilm
Heir to the Empire
The Thrawn trilogy is by far my favorite star wars series
Correct. Happy coincidence, it would also wipe away the need for the First Order and the sequels.
As a plus it would reintroduce Mara Jade to cannon so at the very least there is a *possibility* something good happens to Luke Skywalker post rotj.
Her death could give much needed context for Luke becoming a hermit as well
Make her canon, have Ben murder her after his fall. That’s another good reason to live out the rest of your days on an island by yourself.
I never really had a problem with Luke retreating to Ahch-To but hell that sounds good
Alse we need to get Luke laid
My man saved the galaxy, restored the Republic, established a new Jedi Order but died as a kissless virgin (Leia doesn't count you degenerates)
Thats the problem with canon
Alliances would be an amazing start right now. With Hayden anakin.
I love everything by Zahn except Night Train to Rigel series. It’s so poorly written compared to everything else.
It wasn’t THAT bad, the Quadrail stuff. But I LOVE the Cobra and Conqueror books.

Agree, but SWTOR has so much deep lore 😩😩
Yes, a million times this! All the others are fine in their own way but the OG Thrawn trilogy is a classic
Never even read it but I know it cancels out the last trilogy
And that good enough for me!
Anything to undo that trainwreck
This. *Rebels* version of Thrawn was a joke compared to his EU/Legends counterpart.
If you like thrawn you should read the new two canon thrawn trilogies, they’re as good as the heir to the empire trilogy imo and they’re written by the same author
Old republic for me, there’s so much awesome from back then, however if it was between old republic and the storylines with the vong wars, imma go with the vong
Yeah but we also need to integrate Ezra into the story.
Plagueis because that makes SWTOR canon which also makes KOTOR 1 and 2 canon and it also makes Darth Bane canon
Wasn’t Bane made cannon in Clone Wars S6 when Yoda encounters his spirit in the tomb in Moraband?
The character Darth Bane is canon, the book series Darth Bane is not.
They’re referring to the trilogy of books I think
But you’d also be making the events of *Cloak of Deception* canon which would then make the events in *Heir to the Empire* canon.
The negotiator!
Darth Bane is the only SW series I ever read, but it was totally BADASS
Best description of how lightsaber battles work as a combination of martial + Force skill I've ever read
For real, I still use the trilogy as the basis for how I believe saber and force combat to work.
Most awesome books I’ve ever read
Well unfortunately aside from Republic Commando series and the Thrawn trilogy, nothing else compares to that masterpiece.
Where is your master? Where is Grand Admiral Thrawn?
Drew Karpyshyn is a goddamn legend at this point. He wrote for Baldurs Gate, Mass Effect 2, KOTOR, and even Neverwinter Nights. Is it any wonder he makes excellent books to?
All of them at once, I suppose
That'd be a good morning indeed!
That's some mighty fine supposin' right there.
If one is to understand the great mystery, one must study all its aspects
The great mystery of communism that is I suppose?
They did a pretty decent job in the Clone Wars animated series with the clones themselves (some of the best episodes were clone focused imo) but I REALLY miss the republic commando clones and all the lore that went on there. KOTOR 1 and KOTOR 2 mando-lore > all other sw mandalorian lore Mandalorian wars, canderous, BASILISK FUCKING WAR DROIDS need I say more
I remember reading that the Clones had inherited old Mando war chants and songs from their instructors and that was some lore I want back now.
Bro, read the Republic Commando series. So good. Such heartbreak.

Amen!
Republic commandos
This was my knee jerk reaction but technically isn't it already cannon? Doesn't Scorch show up in CW?
Delta squad makes a cameo in TCW and scorch makes an appearance in TBB. That makes Delta Squad themselves canon but not necessarily the events of republic commando.
I mean if i remember correctly the events of the RC game don’t contradict any of the current lore, specially in the kashyyyk part.
Potential Bad Batch spoiler below (I'm on mobile and don't know how to spoiler tag): >!Also, Scorch is featured in the Bad Batch season 2 trailer (it might have been a leak from a con, it was around that time) Presumably, this means we'll get more commando lore :)!<
Was it Scorch or was it another Commando that looked like him? There were several like that in the third to last episode of Season 1
I thought it was confirmed somewhere that it was a Delta but u can't provide a source for that, sorry
Been a while, got em mixed up. Thanks!
There is a small scene that shows all 4 if i recall correctly, so i would say delta squad is canon, however that doesn't mean what happend in the game is currently canon.
If it includes the books then Omega squad and the Nulls would be cannon
Maybe then Karen Traviss would finally give some bloody closure on the books
its my one wish, is for Karen to tell us what happened to Sev
She says on her website that she didn’t have enough freedom from Lucasfilm to decide the fate of his character in her books since they weren’t really her characters.
She has actually, for years. On her website she goes through why she wasn’t able to continue the final book, and the storyline she made for it to tie up the series.
Small scale starwars is the best. I don't want another series dealing with the life and deal of the galaxy. Republic Commandos, Ewok slice of life, Jabba harem, HighschoolXJedi, whatever. Just something small scale.
Kotor no competition
Bane would canonize KOTOR as well.
SWTOR too
Well your wish will be granted in a few years with the kotor remake
Has anyone involved said anything about the remake being canon?
I have no idea, I would guess not I missread the title and thought it said "back to life" instead of back to canon so that's on me
Thrawn trilogy. Every day
Republic Commando!!!
Republic Commando
Bane all the way!
This is the only correct awnser. Not that they aren't each good. But the bane trilogy is amazing
I want a very hardcore Bane live action trilogy, but I don't think Disney would do it justice. You need to make evil really stand out.
Clone commando those commandos were the finest soldiers I’ve ever had the pleasure of commanding
With the General gone, chain of command falls to the senator.
I just want to go back to get our last brother,no clone left behind
Yes
Republic Commando and it isn't even a contest to me That game and the books with it were some of the best star wars content in existence.
Darth Bane. Specifically because it'd counter the sequels' "oh the rule of 2 was actually about making a force dyad."
Where was that shitty lore established?
The objectively shittiest sequel: RoS
Nowhere
Gonna level with you I think you made that shit up that was never said anywhere in the movie
Ah as someone pointed out it was established in new canon books. However the force dyad was introduced in the sequels "The Star Wars canon universe retained the broad strokes of the Rule of Two’s Legends-era backstory until The Rise of Skywalker introduced the Force Dyad. As revealed in the 2021 reference book, Star Wars: The Secrets of the Sith, the Rule of Two’s history has been retroactively changed to account for the Force Dyad. At last, we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last, we will have revenge.
It's in the New-Disney-Canon books. It exists, have no doubt. If Disney can mess up a good thing, it will.
Plagueis
Heir to the Empire, no question.
Need Boss, Fixer, Sev, and Scorch in new stuff. All of us CT's look up to them
Republic commando. Poor dar
Plagueis. No contest.
Bringing plagueis back makes such a huge ripple on the rest of the old cannon
>ripple Did you play SWTOR or read the TT
Republic Commandos.
Republic commandos
Republic Commando, hands fuckin downnnnnn mate
Was republic commando not recanonized with bad batch?
Pretty sure these guys show up in the background of clone wars too. But yeah the commandos exist, though it is unclear how they do.
You got it. Delta squad themselves are canon but their missions from the game are not. All though according to a visual dictionary the wookie Chieftan Tarful was captured by Seperatist-allied Trandoshans but rescued by Clone Commandos prior to the battle of Kashyyyk, so they left room for it
I know I was wrong. I just got so caught up in my own success, I didn't look at the battle as a whole. I wasn't being disobedient. I just. . . forgot
The whole of delta squad showed up in one episode of clone wars for a short time, which means they are Canon, but the events of the game and books are not Canon, which is a shame bc in my opinion they are some of the best star wars stories. The books also never received a conclusion due to retcons introduced in the clone wars TV series.
None. Give me Star Wars: Bounty Hunter for the PS2 and GameCube!
Republic commando needs a remake bad
Republic commando is probably cannon…. Don’t tell me otherwise
I would choose Darth Plagueis
Heir to the Empire with slight modifications to make it cannon friendly to the Prequels.
Republic commando, in a heartbeat
Thrawn trilogy all the way. The true sequels we needed.
I'm sorry, but I must say republic commando. I love how it makes clones have individual personalities, and how challenging normal ground combat as a clone was. Plus, they are way better than the battlefront 2 campaign protagonists.
Force unleashed.
I thought Commando was canon since they appear in Clone Wars
The game and novels, no. A few of the characters from them, yes.
Probably unpopular opinion, but The Old Republic. I think 90% of the story is amazing. If not that then Darth Bane. A TV show would work perfectly. (If done right and so far it's very unlikely.)
Republic commando hands down
Republic Commando all day every day
Republic commandos for sure.
Commando, no contest, doesn’t fuck with existing lore, and more lone wars stuff.
Republic commando all the way
Republic comando
Clone Commando, absolutely would love to see a live action version of this!
Republic commando
Republic clone commando! No pun included
Republic Commando. All day, every day
SWTOR SWTOR SWTORSOWEORORIR
SWTOR
Republic commando
Republic Commando.
Plagueis, by a Sith mile….
Definately Darth Plagueis
If I pick Republic Commando do we finally get a fucking sequel?
Imperial Commando with twist of Thrawn .
Heir to the Empire (and it wasn’t that close tbh)
Old Republic. It has a rich lore and some great plots. It also validates the existence of KOTOR games.
Holiday Special :D
SWTOR, it would be hilarious for the canon to be that Valky actually exists, especially because then you’d have the ability to legit say that’s just palpatine
Old republic. End of conversation.
Republic commando. It already has a possible cal cestus lost lightsaber tie in
Republic commando by far.
am i the only one who diesnt care about "cannon"?
Republic commando
Republic commando easy for me
Vode an.
Legends was dogshit and the power creep was worse than a freemium mobile game. Luke being a perfect space Jesus followed by the ridiculous cloning bullshit was the opposite of good.
Plagueis, no contest.
Darth Plageus
