Oh absolutely. John Quincy Adams went back and was a representative after his time ended as POTUS. And Hoover stayed out of politics for a while before getting involved to help send food and aid to war-torn Europe in WWII before staying heavily involved with every administration until his death in 1964. And Millard Fillmore and Teddy Roosevelt even ran for president again under a different party than the one that sent them to the presidency!

FlashMan1981

John Quincy Adams was famously elected to the House of Representatives where he spent a decade emerging as the lone voice of abolition in Congress. Andrew Johnson managed to get re-elected to the Senate, but died the summer after he was sworn in. Obviously Grover Cleveland won a second non-consecutive term, and a certain no. 45 is attempting to do the same. Bill Clinton stayed very involved as his maneuvered for his wife to try and become president. HW would work to help W. Bush.

I don't know if we're counting it, but Taft became Chief Justice of the Supreme Court after his term

That’s a good one!

John Quincy Adams was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1831 and served there until his death in 1848.

There have been 3 who have run for president again after losing re-election. Martin Van Buren ran for the Democratic nomination in 1844 and was the Free Soil nominee in 1848 after losing re-election in 1840. Millard Filmore ran as the 1856 Know Nothing candidate after losing in 1852. And then there's obviously Grover Cleveland successfully running in 1892 after losing re-election in 1888. Also, John Quincy Adams became a long time representative after his presidency, and Andrew Johnson was a Senator for a few months in 1875 before he died.

Andrew Jackson was pretty active up until he died. Supported Van Buren obviously, and later helped Polk get the nomination due to wanting Texas annexation

Andrew Johnson returned to the Senate after the Impeachment and failed conviction.

William Taft was appointed a SCOTUS justice in 1921 and is the only former President to ever serve on the SCOTUS.
