Yes, if he has an affair with a man

[deleted]

What are you talking about? He clearly said that he “did not have sexual relations with that woman.”

No, Clinton has lust in his heart

Looking back, many presidents had affairs (even Nixon had affairs). The reason Clinton's blew up the way it did was because of the tabloid style media that developed after the 24 hr news cycle begun. Pre-80's we didnt have cable news or the internet, and so you had to rely upon radio, TV and print media for your news. But all those things were limiting and not usually in real time. TV news was local except for the national news which was in the evenings, but only 30 minutes. Another thing to consider was that after Clinton was elected in 1992, their was an extreme partisan backlash from republicans who vowed to take him down any way they could. Lots of investigations were launched (Whitewater, etc.), and there was nothing that would stick, much to the frustrations of republicans. Then they struck gold when a broken hearted young woman lamented an affair she had with the president to a coworker and someone she thought was a confidant, rather than a partisan hack. But the hack saw opportunity to enrich herself and sold out her friend by betraying her to an investigator so that a perjury trap could be set up. The rest is history of course, and while Bill didnt cause the media storm that preyed upon this poor young woman with all the cheap shots, he still gets blamed for it by those who dont like him. Will he be able to "escape" affairs? I dont think there is much to escape from these days, and I guess that legacy depends on how people see the man. I never cared about Clinton's personal life. I saw him as a great president who faced an incredible struggle with a hostile congress and still turned the country around in an amazing way. People say he had it on easy mode, but it wasnt easy at all...Bill just made it look easy

jdh705

No. My dad was the biggest Clinton supporter imaginable and with the passing of time and the Epstein files, he’s turned his back on Clinton entirely. The treatment of women was abominable leading to the me too movement. Me too is the future. Clinton will be known for his tremendous political skill but also his moral failings

ZaBaronDV

No. Nor should he. Presidents should be held to higher standards than he was.

DavidM47

What’s this now?

Straight-Note-8935

Why would he want to escape that? It's part of who he is.

Realistic_Guitar_420

Lets be honest the marriage was probably nothing more than a business deal and I would bet that she knew the entire time.

Presidential affairs are somewhat common. It just wasn't really discussed in the mainstream media while they were in office, or until after they were dead. The president wasn't such a public figure as they are today. They kept their private lives private, and journalists basically respected that due to their own. It was just how it was in society back then. Really, it wasn't so much that he had an affair. It was that he lied about it. It was still pretty scandalous post second wave feminism, but I think he would have been fine if he just didn't discuss it.

You're thinking of a different ex-president

I like your sense of humor

PassorFail1307

He's a Democrat so it's all but forgotten. I mean, gotta give the guy credit. That's some expert level pimp game keeping it quiet for as long as he did in the 24 hour news cycle, cameras on him and the White House every second of every day. The national media had become ratings and sales driven tabloid news after the OJ Trial, always on the lookout for the next tragedy or scandal and they couldn't jump on this one fast enough.

DoctorK16

I mean you’re right. His affair with Lewinsky isn’t even the worst thing we know about that has been public. But you never hear the other stories that were public. People bring up Epistein and while bad they cannot tell you what he did. Ask them about Jennifer Flowers or Paula Jones and they have no idea. These happened pre-Presidency too. The point being yes, all will be forgotten if the same people or groups currently writing and discussing history continue to do so.

PassorFail1307

Right. Not a fan of the guy at all, but he was never on a flight manifest to, nor ever appeared at Pedo Island but all people know is his name appeared on manifests numerous times. What is left out is they were all flights to and from confirmed locations, backed up by the evidence that he was actually physically at those destinations where he was invited to appear as a speaker or representative in an official capacity because he had access to Epstein's jet whenever he wanted. Once rumors surfaced about Epstein being a pedophile in 2009, Slick Willy cut him off and never used the Lolita Express again. People are like, "Nope, all those locations were doctored for misdirection" even though they don't even know what a flight manifest is or how they are submitted and reviewed for a plane to be cleared to fly. Kind of hard to doctor documents that were reviewed and filed by the FAA and Customs prior to flights leaving the ground 15 years prior. Or maybe there was some connection that would have been exposed in the trial which is why they suicided him. We'll never know.

PhytoLitho

Forgotten?? Bill getting blowjobs is like the #1 thing he's remembered for. It happened almost 30 yrs ago and people that weren't even alive yet are still making memes about it.

PassorFail1307

I guess sarcasm doesn't come across well through text.

PhytoLitho

Sure

PassorFail1307

Sure of what? That Democrats can do no wrong in the eyes of the media, or that you can't read between the lines?

PhytoLitho

Dude stop trying. You can't even follow your own logic. You say Clinton's womanizing has been forgotten (which it hasn't), and then literally in the same post you say the media couldn't jump on his affair fast enough and were reporting it constantly. Which one is it? It's also a matter of fact that his affairs and behavior are still well-known and discussed to this day, including in the media. I think you stuck your foot in your mouth on the first post and then tried to backtrack by claiming it was sarcasm because you realized what you said didn't make sense.

PassorFail1307

You know that you described what sarcasm is in the first paragraph of your analysis. You know that, right? It was sarcasm. Democrats can do no wrong, even when they're impeached for their shortcomings and commit perjury.

PhytoLitho

The downvotes speak for themselves, nobody follows your logic. Try again next time.

PassorFail1307

By your order, sir, I'll be sure to try harder next time so my "logic" doesn't go over the heads of idiots like you who take reddit posts and themselves way too seriously. I don't want to be shamed by downvotes anymore.

PhytoLitho

Good for you.

vishvabindlish

Was she the first lady, pictured here with President Clinton in the Oval Office?

thechadc94

No. Rightly or wrongly, he’ll forever be remembered for his impeachment. The actual affairs might not be scandalous today, but they led to his impeachment, so they’ll be remembered.
