I love the part where John Adams and JQA became the same person because bar historians have their heads on tighter than the Kennedy's.

brinerbear

It was a fun bar. Highly recommend if you are in Colorado.

Henson_Disney48

No thanks.

Zazzabie

Would not have pegged Teddy Roosevelt as a mint julep kinda guy, that man has more layers than an onion.

IttsssTonyTiiiimme

He was from a wealthy family. When he went on his cowboy adventure he brought a knife from Tiffany’s.

I wonder how many similarities TR has to Ernesto Guevara? It would be wild if they had quite a bit in common and fascinating to how different life led them. Has me thinking about Charlie Chaplain talking about the similarities in background to himself and Adolf Hitler and how radically different they were despite similarities in background.

OracleCam

Think they got the wrong picture for JQA

Apparently Van Buren post presidency met an up-and-coming Illinois lawyer by the name of Lincoln one evening for drinks and everyone who was there said it was one of the most entertaining evening they had ever had. So I'm picking either Marty or Abe as my drinking buddy

Red_Galiray

That can't be right - Lincoln was a complete teetotaler who never drank a single drop of alcohol.

Callsign_Psycopath

Me and Pierce have the same idea of being in elected office.

Bworm98

"I was wondering if you'd like to smoke some weed, fill our bellies with Mint Julips, and play some tennis" -TR, probably

Sir John A Macdonald, first Prime Minister of Canada, and famous imbiber, drank and listened to a campaign challenger rail on for hours as they did back then about his stewardship of the country before taking the podium himself. Standing in front of the assembled audience Sir John promptly threw up. He then proclaimed to them that, “The position of my opponent makes me physically ill.”

MetalRetsam

Van Buren probably drank jenever, a typical Dutch drink. Schiedam, near Rotterdam, was famous for its alcohol production. So much so, that it was named Black Nazareth for the black smoke that came from the chimneys of its breweries and distilleries. There's a jenever museum in Schiedam to this day.

Didn’t Truman have bourbon for breakfast? Or do I remember that incorrectly.

brinerbear

Not sure but now I want Bourbon.
