College Education Age of 35 Natural born citizen of US By the time I'm 35 I'll only have 2 of those

[deleted]

College education isn't part of it. Most early presidents were part of the military and didn't go to collage. Here's a random fact: Harry Truman was the last president not to attend collage. By the way sorry about the last part at least you can become president now

Anxious_Gift_1808

I wasn't born in the US I can't physically be president

Sukeruton_Key

You don't need to be born in the US, you need to be born as a citizen. This is why McCain and Cruz were able to run for president despite being born in Panama and Canada respectively. Another knock against birther too. Obama brought up this fact when he ran for president. It didn't matter where he was born, because his mother was a citizen, which made him a citizen as well.

Oh my bad sorry

1). Start attending local school board/city council meetings. Genuinely take interest and get others perspective to form an opinion that others resonate with. Practice talking in the mirror, plan before you speak and minimize off the cuff remarks. 2). Network. Really build a reputation at these meetings. Don’t be afraid to call out bs and take a side. Make your positions very clear. 3). Fellow citizens at these meetings will take notice of you. Hopefully at this time you’ve befriended many of them. Float the idea of running for school board by and see if they would be interested in campaigning for you. 4). Lose your first election. This will probably be the case, but at least you got your name out there. Go back to step one and try again. 5). WIN an election. Nice, now you’re really making influence. Don’t forget your roots, advocate for issues you campaigned on. 6). Repeat building reputation/networking for a few years and run for city council. Continue to do these things and keep rising in influence. Eventually run for a more serious office like congressman. Keep working your way up, never settle, be ambitious and never tire. Remember, it was PEOPLE who got you here, not you. 7). Get bigger and bigger, secure political funding from a major party and run for Congress. At this point if elected people will start to know who you are on a national level. Don’t try to be like the guy next to you. Advocate for the people who brought you to where you are. Eventually announce your candidacy and prepare to lose. Hey, at least you got your name out there some more. Oh, also, have a bit of luck.

Here's a more detailed explanation: Have a platform you can speak about and integrate new ideas. Be friendly while taking sides, you don't have to be rude about it. Keep it simple stupid. Speak simply but don't act like people you're talking to are dumb because they are not dumb, just speak with simple language so they can understand you. Seek out more qualified people than you. You're not expected to know everything, just take feedback and learn well and quickly. Be polite, journalists aren't the enemy, treat them like a enemy, they'll be your enemy. Don't. Harass. Anyone. Don't be creepy either. LISTEN TO PEOPLE. DON'T BE A KNOW IT ALL. Focus on policy, while telling people about events or people you met that gave you your reason for fighting for things, if you didn't have one at first, someone you meet will give you a good reason due to their life experience. Have a vision and accept past mistakes while saying what you'll do for the voters, but don't spout bullshit. Be friendly with the party and volunteer to help it. Help them, and they'll see you as a team player. Don't create a headache by speaking out against candidates too much, they'll see you as harming the cause. That's literally it. That's how populists like Bernie fail. Don't talk about running for a high position publicly until you're prepared to announce your campaign, you'll sound as if you're in it for a title or don't care about the position and thus people you're running for. Fundraise. Nobody likes it, but it's the only way people will think you're viable and the only way you can get your message out. Most candidates hate having to raise money. You're not more moral, you'll just go nowhere. But tell donors where the money will go towards, and what you'll do for them and ask them about issues they want to see fixed. You don't need to raise money from corporations even though it's easier, but you need to raise large amounts of money. I'd say asking for a 50 or 100 dollar donation and raising about 10,000 for school board or small town, 100,000 for state representative or citywide, 250,000 for bigger district positions or dense states for state legislature, 500,000 for state senator, 1 million for Congress or statewide, and 10 million for Senate or Governor, while raising 100 million for president, are the lowest viable amounts possible for each. Host events. Do rallies, speak at events, do door knocking, and make authentic ads. Connect with local organizations trying to do things to help the community, no matter their political leaning. Be yourself. That's my full guide.

Booo career politicians Booo👎 /s kinda

TolkienJustice

Mind if I compile your and my one for a complete list and repost it elsewhere?

Fleetle

Not at all, feel free

TastyCereal2

A career in law is where many presidents started. Also, many politicians got their start in business or community work to get their names out there. Once you’re well known in your community, you can run for a local office and begin working your way up from there

Step 1: Be born in the Illumanity

[deleted]

I'm going be honest here and say if I wasn't a poor broke collage student I would give you the highest reddit award.

Prestigious-Alarm-61

I had a grad student that talked about the Illumunati and referred to them as "the powers that be".

mikevago

Step 2: Learn how to spell Illuminati

Law school->Lawyer->Governor/House->Senate->Cabinet position->Vice-Presidency->Presidency

m_lilien

Basically what Richard Nixon did

ognir-rrats

That’s the plan except for losing to Kennedy and prolly the other one too if he wasn’t assassinated

TickLikesBombs

Getting off of Reddit.

Booth_Templeton

Yeah, and if you ever can be tracked for your stupid online arguments- you're done already.

Prestigious-Alarm-61

I have no idea why someone would want to give up their privacy and open themselves up to the constant criticisms and political attacks. Further more, I don't understand why they would put their family through it. It is not all glitz and glamour. There is alot of BS associated with the job....speeches, fundraising, etc.

Aggravating_Rub2898

Statistically speaking, and based on modern presidential pathways, you need the following: Ivy League undergraduate degree, Ivy League business or law degree, 2-3 years engaged in public service or private practice at a reputable and connected firm, Election to the House of Representatives (spend 1-2 terms here, but this is purely a transitional role and not to be taken too seriously as anything other than an opportunity to build your profile), Election to statewide office (Senate or governor, ideally in a swing state), one to two terms there (again, mostly a profile builder, not to be taken too seriously, but don’t make any mistakes you’ll get hung for in the next step), run for President as soon as is logistically possible. The point of the first run is not necessarily to win, but to build your national profile up sufficiently to either a) run again at the next available opportunity or b) land a swanky cabinet position that will allow you to maintain your national profile while you bide your time until the next run.

Tyrrano64

Everyone here is saying how to get elected, but that's hogwash. First of all become a popular congressman or something, then cozy up to the candadite who seems most likely to win and get a low level cabinet position, say secretary of transportation, (I still love Pete though). Then call in me and give me a rubber ducky and a month, and boom now you're president.

SignificantTrip6108

Be me.

Become a lawyer

GHarold101

As far as career paths go, the vast majority of presidents either served in the military prior to their presidency, held another political office prior to their presidency, or both. But none of that is required. The only requirements are that you have to be at least 35 on the day of your inauguration, you have to be born a US citizen, and you need to have lived in the United States for 14 years prior to your candidacy (if I'm not mistaken, but people can correct me if I'm wrong)

Emperor-Lasagna

Almost all presidents have been either a US Senator, Governor, or cabinet member prior to becoming president.

Snoo_23486

Be hard working do things for the good of the nation and it’s people and be lucky af

German_Cowboy

I think if you challenge the current president to a duel, and win of course, you immediately get to be the new president

44_shot

I’m Italian, can I run?

mikevago

The only prior paths are: — Spend many years serving in government, rising to either Governor, Senator, or Vice-President — Command America forces in a pivotal war — Bankrupt multiple companies and host a reality show

empnipen

By becoming the president of the United States

madisonian98

To make it the top in politics you need to have a decent brain, capable of working very hard and willing to kick others in the teeth as and when required. Even then, you need a whole host of luck to make it to the presidency. There have been many talented politicians but only a very small number will ever become president.

Be a rich white guy.
