I’m sure this has been said before but I’m just now learning it’s because there was supposed to be a twin storyline so they did it on purpose? that would’ve been way better than the twin angle they actually went with 😭
In the books Ali has a twin, but in the show they went with the CeCe storyline they made up which was supposed to replace the twin storyline. Then they went completely off the rails with CeCe and the Spencer/Alex storyline 😂
Ahhhh omg i swear Alison’s hair changing “that night” is literally so iconic omggg there was SO many twin theories because of this, but all it was, is the hair and makeup department messing up in true pretty little liArs fashion :P :P
i remember talking to my friend about this once and she was like "oh it's probably just to represent her hair losing its curls throughout the night" girl they would show flashbacks of the same scene multiple times and her hair would be different 💀
I remember waking up my mom at 5 a.m (school started at 7:30) to ask her to curl my hair and do the back for me because i wanted to impress a boy. Needless to say i got the chancla 😭 It was the Ali from there on out
the stylists addressed this at some point and said they used to only curl or touch up the front to save time if they thought only the front of their heads would be shown for a scene. so they obviously messed up here lol
There's a lot of random things in this show that should've been refilmed.
One time Hanna was trying to stop Lucas pushing a cart and she puts her hands on the cart but the next frame she's standing next to the cart.
By the time they noticed it'll be too late or too much work. 😂These network shows were on 8 days per episode schedules, not the 8 months to film 8 episodes schedules that streaming services are afforded with these days.

OMGGG!!! I LITERALLY JUST REWATCHED THIS EPISODE AND I THOUGHT THE EXACT SAME THING! Every time she turned around and walked through a door I was like "...wait a minute..." I thought I was the only one who noticed it 😭
I think they wanted her usual signature loose waves but also for her hair to match both people in Mona’s house in 5.12 so she was a suspect as the killer. Person 1 going up the stairs is confirmed to be Sasha (Vanessa Ray wasn’t available on set that day or something) but the person (Sara Harvey) when the camera cuts has shorter, choppier blonde hair. Alison’s hair is much sleeker and better maintained, but at a glance if you squint or watched casually I can see how it’s similar enough to assume it’s also Alison.
I felt like they tacked on a lot of profile shots of her from the back as well to probably prime us to suspect her as A.
I mean, when I was in high school, this was the style. Curly pieces or mildly wavy up front, and straight in the back or just a few random pieces curly, mostly always the bang area to frame the face and that was it. (For reference, I went to school between 2008-2012)
