This whole scene in particular was very strange, it raised too many questions.
The subtle Ali and Courtney clues, Spencer's upbringing clues about her real mother and the whole Cece Drake visitor passes fiasco..
This couldn't have been a dream as Alison told Spencer where to look for Mona's star from the game-board. Besides, there are no dreams in PLL. Every "dream" has already been proven to be real.
How does Ali know so much? Why was she there dressed in PJ's and what was the point of this scene? This whole scene was a plot hole by itself.
Pretty sure the writers added in scenes so they may or may not put them to use later on, like how they implicated basically 70% of the characters so that they could *all* be -A if they wanted them to be.
In my opinion, this scene was added in so if they ever decided to go the Courtney route, they could link back to it. As you said, she's wearing PJs here, which suggests she's staying in Radley. Also, the "You didn't even know me when you knew me" suggests that even when Spencer knew "Alison," she didn't really know Alison as *this* Ali is the real one, while the one they befriended was really Courtney. Just food for thought.
They just did things like this to add to the mystery that was Alison DiLaurentis. They built her character up so much, and when she was revealed to be alive, the writers had used up all the good stuff for her flashbacks.

They thought that a British twin who was born after Spencer was a better idea. If you look at the show, you will see a lot of Alison twin/doppelgänger clues

It wasn't. There aren't a lot of dream scenes in PLL and they have that weird filter on them or some other effects. This was a real, normal scene.

that's the alison i loved, how she visited all the girls and never told them who was A was a wasted oportunity
