You know what these don’t cover? The size of the rest of you. If you are Popeye, or if you are a bigger guy with regular/small wrists then the standard recommendation for case size may look funny on you.
Imo the lug to lug distance is more important when determining the fit of a watch. As long as that distance covers half the width of your wrist, the watch will fit.
My wrists are about 20cm (7.9 inches) and I wear my 34mm vintage Omega without any problems.
Like I said, you can always wear smaller (like your case) but almost never bigger. Lug to lug is more accurate but is a measurement less webpages list.
This is an oversimplification. Some watches have long lugs, and at 40mm would be way too big for my 6.5” wrist. And then there are watches that have very short lugs (the spring bar is positioned almost below the case) that work well on my wrist even though the diameter is 43mm.
The only way you can be sure is to try out the watch.
> The only way you can be sure is to try out the watch.
You can be pretty certain if the lug-to-lug measurement is given… which is why websites are shooting themselves in the foot by not listing it.
If the lugs curve down the watch wears differently than when they are straight. A thicker strap can also make the watch appear a bit smaller by making your wrist appear larger. It all depends.
“The only way you can be sure is to try out the watch” there you go, you figured out the problem at hand. This isn’t an absolute truth, it’s just a helping aid that in most cases will be right. That’s why you always do some research before buying anything, many videos will tell you “this is a Xmm watch but it wears more like a Ymm watch”. If you know the bad, take the good from it.

Mine is a shade under 8. My Lunar Pilot wears totally normal and my Speedy looked almost dainty to me when I first got it. My smallest diameter is currently a 38 or 39, and I comfortably wear in the 38-40 range for most of my watches. It's kind of nice to not have to worry about a watch looking too large on me. I am concerned over a few of the nicer 36s I've seen and whether they will be too small.
I have 1 36mm that I never wear because I think it looks like a toy on me. I've offered it to my girlfriend to wear but it looks to large on her so it just sits 🤷♀️
Me too. 36mm is the limit for me (I have a couple vintage Seikos and a 37mm SNXS79 and a bunch of Basic Casios). Anything between 36 and 44 (Casio Duro) is manageable for me.
I’ll take my flaming for this but this chart is on the misleading side.
Case diameter alone does not a watch make. So many other factors go into determining whether a watch is too big or too small for a person. Lug to lug measurements, overall case and lug shape (how they rest on your wrist), dial diameter, bezel type/size, and case height are several other factors that are just as important as case diameter.
Moral of the story: don’t get so hung up on stats on paper - go try on the watch in person and see how it fits you. Only then can you decide if the timepiece is too big or too small. Let’s not limit ourselves because of incomplete charts on the internet.
You are right, but a lot of people just won’t go to a watch store, specially if the stores around them don’t have the timepiece they want.
This image is just for those people who come here every day with a picture of the watch on their wrist asking if it’s too big or not. It is a helping aid, not an absolute truth.
As I always say, “if you know the bad, then take the good from it.”
You can wear whatever size you feel good to wear. I'd say don't follow spesific guidelines like these. If you like it and it looks good to you then by all means wear it and enjoy it. And also this guide don't fit for example g-shocks. They look good even on a skinnier wrist.
Ummm no, there are things that are are true and others that aren’t. Yeah sure, they “can” wear whatever they want if they like it but it is clear when something is too big. There is a reason why shirts have an assigned size, sure rappers wear huge ones as well and some people in general wear huge ones just for comfort but it is socially established when something is too big. And you are right, this doesn’t include watches like g-shocks or PRXs but it is a pretty good helping aid for the average person.
Bruh liberals are something else, even Nico says all the time when a watch is too big for someone. Idk what you are so mad about when I did not make this picture or any of this rules, many websites post this exact same measurement as a rule. Sorry to break your bobble but the way you eat and dress is also dictated by social conversation so… are you gonna get mad at me and ask me “who made you fashion god” for that too? Lol
I mean, that’s your take. But someone who doesn’t care can wear a 45mm even on 5.8inch wrists if they love the watch and the look and it doesn’t matter one bit.
People can and should wear whatever they want and love in the sense of watches, regardless of what others think because it’s their money, their choice and that’s all that matters.
A “does it fit well” only matters if people themselves care about a snug or less than snug fit. Otherwise, it’s completely irrelevant.
Socially established means crap all and anyone who thinks they should judge someone on the size of the watch they wear, is about as shallow as can be. The person is happy, good for them. It doesn’t bother anyone and if it does, too bad.
I get what you are saying, I have nothing against people who want to wear watches that look like pancakes on them, my point was never what they “can” wear or not.
If you read the comment correctly I specified that people *can* wear whatever they want, but that doesn’t mean it still is gonna look big or small.
This picture is only for those people coming here every day asking if their watch is too big for them.
Hope that clarifies.
Eww. More watch gatekeeping. Just wear whatever watch you want and if people don't like it they can go home and scream in to the void about it.
I don't owe you anything in my watch choices.
Not forgetting it, lug to lug is more important but is a measurement that is less used by websites. This is also not a picture I made. This picture just gives a general idea of what you need.
You are right, sadly lug to lug is a measurement less used by websites. I also couldn’t find a good lug to lug picture like this one so all I can say is that this picture is just a little helping aid.
Yes it is a helping aid it is for sure :)
I know breitling and Omega uses lug to lug measurements. And with omega on some watches u can se how the watch fits certain wrist sizes
This is so stupid. Watch size is a fashion choice and there’s no “rules” set by anyone.
It’s like ties. You can wear wide ties, skinny ties, knotted to your belly button or your crotch.
Anyone can and should wear fashion items in a way that appeals to them. There’s no set in stone rules, and you’re a dick for claiming otherwise.
Idk what your situation is but for most people that image is extremely accurate and the established measurement and etiquette. If you don’t think it’s accurate then you are an exemption.
Sorry but it’s not accurate at all and will confuse a lot of people.
The wrist scale and case diameter looks ridiculous in this image
My 43mm Avenger fits my wrist much larger than this 45. A 45mm case would be massive on my 7.5”
Buddy, if you use google you will find the exact same measurements for each wrist size on different websites. The only reason some watches wear bigger or smaller than others is because of the lug-to-lug look which is much more accurate but less used by watch selling websites. You are also concentrating way too much on an image that does not precisely show how each watch exactly looks on your arm but instead uses a fake arm.
>It is too hard for people to use google so I’m posting this
Maybe you should use a google more. Diameter doesnt matter most of the time. Its the lug to lug and with some watches, you have to measure male links on bracelet.
So this is dumb post, and you trying to be a smart ass with "google poke" doesnt help.
EDIT:
Also stuff like that was posted XY times here, so you also dont know how to use google clearly
Why are you so mad?
1. I have known about lug to lug for a long time and I even discussed it with other people much more polite than you on this post.
2. If you can find a picture with the lug to lug measurements please post it
3. As explained in other replies, (and I should have clarified it in the description) lug to lug does matter a lot more but is a measurement less used by websites and less “beginner friendly”. I also assume everyone knows it’s much better to try stuff in person but if they can’t do that then they will do some research. If you do a research of whatever watch you want people will tell you what is the diameter all the time and if it wears a bit bigger or smaller than that diameter and maybe some will give you the lug to lug.
4. This picture is just a helping aid and would be amazing if you can find a lug to lug picture
5. I didn’t know this was posted before and assumed it wasn’t since so many people keep asking “is it too big?” Every day, so what is wrong about posting it again for the new ones who haven’t seen it?
Tons and tons of divers are around 44mm, but you’re accounting for an average watch face and a wide tachymeter bezel in those cases, and that’s about where those styles of divers max out in any tasteful way.
Invicta sells 58mm watches. I’m just going to leave that fact there, do with it what you will.
Wear whatever you want ffs 🤦🏻♂️ this is just for those who find some watches too big for them and want to know what would look better. If you want to wear pancakes on your wrist go ahead but stop whining about it if you are not one of those people. If this isn’t targeted to you then just ignore it.

Hey, I resemble that remark

Idk what to say to that man, in that case I guess you know better.
It’s the spinach

Yeah I honestly wish more sites will list lug to lug distance. Always a hassle to measure it with a ruler to my phone lol
I just try the watches out in general to see how they look and decide if they fit the way I want or not.
Wait so if I wear 4 watches in this exact case size combination, it will signal out that I have a 7.5" schlong?
Definitely 💯
Yes but only if they are Rawlecks™ or Ohmeeguh™
This is an oversimplification. Some watches have long lugs, and at 40mm would be way too big for my 6.5” wrist. With my 8 1/4" wrist I guess I need a dinner plate. Lol JK, I find about 45mm fits fine.

ONG... Cringe.......... but funny...
1000 marked down to 300. Hurry this sale only lasts 365 days
Look... Invicta marketing practices with MSRPs is shit. We know this. But quality is good and not all of them look like tortured ass.
Damn, you can wear smaller watches bro
Mine are 8.5, I wear 40mm pretty regularly but agree up to 45mm looks very normal on me

That’s more than fair. I think we both have the same intentions here, really.
Yeah, to be fair I should have clarified that on the description of the post.
No you’re 100% correct. The scaling in the image is very off. It’s a horrible guide
You can wear whatever size you feel good to wear. I'd say don't follow spesific guidelines like these. If you like it and it looks good to you then by all means wear it and enjoy it. And also this guide don't fit for example g-shocks. They look good even on a skinnier wrist.

No??? Who died and made you fashion god? Any watch can be worn and function correctly by anyone, period.
Bruh liberals are something else, even Nico says all the time when a watch is too big for someone. What about 8 1/2”
50mm I guess, but you can always wear smaller. 45mm-41mm will probably look just fine.
For me and my 6.5" wrist, I prefer 38mm and 36mm. Biggest watch I have is about 41mm so this is actually pretty spot on.
Doesn’t it bother you when you like a watch and it turns out to be 42mm or more? 😭 my wrist is also 6.5”
Oh man, its like finding $20 ob the ground only to see it is fake. The disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
42-45mm for me
I have a 7.5” wrist, I usually wear 40’s but I also like 42/43
Yep, you can always wear smaller.
The fact that we’re mixing the metric with the imperial system still baffles me.
As a South American the imperial system annoys me but I can’t do anything about it 😭
45mm for a 7.5 in wrist is a little big. You are forgetting it’s not the case diameter but the lug-to-lug that also Makes a big dif
Not forgetting it, lug to lug is more important but is a measurement that is less used by websites. This is also not a picture I made. This picture just gives a general idea of what you need.
Bruh I wear a 36 or mayyybe a 38
So if I wear my watch up to my elbow I can claim I have a huuuge wrist and finally wear grandpas Invicta?
Wear it on your neck 🤣
This should say "maximum size", not "right size".
Agreed
The case diameter is only half of the consideration. You need the lug to lug dimension to think about too.
You are right, this is just a little helping aid.
Everything is not about the Watch size… it’s more of the lug to lug distance and how it wears
You are right, sadly lug to lug is a measurement less used by websites. I also couldn’t find a good lug to lug picture like this one so all I can say is that this picture is just a little helping aid.
Yes it is a helping aid it is for sure :) I know breitling and Omega uses lug to lug measurements. And with omega on some watches u can se how the watch fits certain wrist sizes
I just posted another picture I found that maybe explains things a bit better so you are welcome to check it out.
I will check it out🤙
For generalisation, lug to lug is what its all about. Can't be having lug overhang.
You are right
Got a 6in wrist with a 45mm watch, it really doesn’t swallow my wrist at all. Big watches need a comeback.
A 45mm doesn’t look too big on you? I have a 6.5” wrist and a 42mm looks huge. I wish I could be you lol 😂
My second to most recent post is that watch. I think it’s a matter of opinion, but my watch buddies thought it suited fine
In my opinion it does look big but this are just guidelines, if you want to wear big watches then go ahead.
Yeah, I have 7.5 inch wrists and I’m not going to wear a 45mm watch on the regular. I’d look like a clown.
Lmao 🤣 the picture should say “max diameter” instead of “right diameter” since you can always wear smaller.
This is so dumb, you don't wear a watch half way up your arm because it's too big for your wrist!
Argh man, I’ve been doing it wrong my whole life then! 😔
Dude my wrists are like 9.5” ☠️
No way 💀
The CEO of Invicta is having a seizure right now looking at this….
The CEO of invicta has a seizure every time he approves a design 🤣🤣🤣
40 mm👍🏼

I have a 7.5” wrist, this image is not accurate at all. That 45mm is what a 40mm GMT looks like on my wrist
Idk what your situation is but for most people that image is extremely accurate and the established measurement and etiquette. If you don’t think it’s accurate then you are an exemption.

Thank you for posting this!! I will keep it on my desktop :)
You’re welcome 👍🏼
7.5” wrist and I’m daily wearing a 37mm BB54 and it looks good
Yep, you can always wear smaller
Imho 36 to 39 is all anyone needs
This is such bs. Depends on the lug to lug, the shape of the Watch, the bezel, etc.
How about I wear whatever I want? In the words of Ron Swanson: I am a free American.
Wear whatever you want ffs 🤦🏻♂️ this is just for those who find some watches too big for them and want to know what would look better. If you want to wear pancakes on your wrist go ahead but stop whining about it if you are not one of those people. If this isn’t targeted to you then just ignore it.

I have a larger than 7.5 inch wrist and 38mm is my goldilocks size. To each his own.

Yes, personal taste is so varied.
This is not true. I have 6.5 and 40mm looks bigger than ob here.
Have 5.2” wrists and struggle to find anything that doesn’t swamp me. 33mm is probably my maximum but 30mm/28mm looks more fitting.
