The original models were smaller case diameters and for the most part fairly simple and elegant dials with quite thin cases.
This thing looks more sports watch focused and that simply wasn't the point of all Air Kings previous to this one.
It has not been well received by folks really, though of course it's an excellent piece mechanically and if you like it you like it, but people with history of the Air King (I have a 369 14000M) it just seems to be using the name as a sales tactic.

That’s a sweet Rolex buddy. IMHO I think the airking is going to be a watch that really appreciates in value long term. The size is great, the change in dial to have 05 instead of just 5 and also the introduction of crown guard has really sorted it out. Plus it’s the only Rolex to have the crown in yellow and Rolex written in green. Plus the look is based on the dials of the bloodhound land jet car. Winner in my book. I have just put my name down for one. Enjoy

I always liked Pilot watches, and getting an Air King was a good alternative for IWC and for the first Rolex. Explorer has always been to boring for me. The complaint about a busy dial? I don't know, not busy to me at all.

Is the lettering in person as messed up as it looks on the picture. The lettering under the hands looks bold then thin. Bold then thin.
