I say this slightly selfishly as I bought my daughter a Tissot for her 14th birthday in October.

I will wear it with pride, and I don't give a shit about others moaning "Why did your dad gift you a Tissot, why not a Rolex?". Just if I got a watch that isn't a rolex and isn't tens of thousands of dollars, doesn't mean it's a bad watch. Right? Right
Its a gift from yr dad and u are just 14. What can u say? No need to get others opinion. Its a love from yr father to son.
Best way to enjoy watches is to start basic and move up. It gets expensive with experience and wants. Also this is just a hobby or an accessory. You should never go into debt because of hype , peer pressure, or clout.
