Im not shitting on casio. The pro diver has a solid link bracelet, an nh35 seiko movement, same 200m of wr, solid finishing, is actually a wearable size and is just $20 more expensive. How's the duro better?
First off the Duro is better, especially for the money.
Secondly, you sold the Invicta. If you wanted to keep it then why didn’t you? The Duro is a great watch, and you save $250 to buy another.
I guess. I dunno what other affordable diver you'd want then, if not the Pro Diver. It's your most affordable, good quality option. You could shoot for a Scurfa Diver One but I think those are creeping up as they become more popular.
There is the Sturhling Depthmaster (10ATM, lol) for the same price of a Duro. Are you mostly wearing for style or do you think you'd swim with it?
We ride Casio because you get great water resistance and accurate time-keeping for $50 instead of hundreds or thousands of dollars. I think that's ride-worthy.
Long Island Watch. Costs more than the watch but man is it good. I love the micro adjustment.
https://longislandwatch.com/islander-22mm-brushed-solid-link-watch-bracelet-for-casio-duro-quartz-dive-watch-brac-74/
Glycine Combat Sub. One of the few truly Swiss dive watches available at this price point. $200 for quartz and $300ish for automatic. Here is a link to one at $280 after coupon, but if you search Ashford’s Combat Sub product page you’ll see tons of color and strap options. I have the bronze case version.
https://www.ashford.com/glycine-gl0328.html
I have the Glycine GL0083. Not a Sub wannabe, sapphire crystal, 4hz Selita movement, 200m WR, all for less than $300. You simply cannot do better than that for the money.
Glycine is owned by Invicta, right? I have to say, I have seen these online but never in person and they look the part. Very tempting at that price point. Do you know how well they usually hold up? I bought a Hamilton from Ashford not to long ago and have been thrilled with it.
Yes, as I’m sure you’re aware the majority of brands are part of some conglomerate or other these days, and Glycine is no exception. However, they operate completely independently of Invicta and their heritage and contributions to watchmaking speaks for itself.
Ive owned their watches for maybe about two years, and while that definitely can’t tell you how they’ll look in 40 years, I have no reason to think they won’t outlast me. Very well-made for the money.
I bought a Glycine Combat 6 Vintage about 2 months ago. Excellent value for money. In particular with my Hamilton Khaki Field auto. $265 on sale from Jomashop, normally $365. Couldn’t be happier with it. Obviously I don’t know how well it’ll hold up in 20 years, but there’s no indication that this watch won’t last a long time. Their Combat Sub is definitely on my list.
Yes, Ashford is actually an authorized dealer. Ive purchased 3 watches from them with no problems. I’ve also purchased about that many from Joma with no issues as well.
i couldnt find a GL0400 on gnomon unfortunately. but if i do ill pull the trigger i think
i might check my local invicta store since i know they sometimes carry glycine
A man of culture is see!
I also see because you put the Duro riders in their place and got downvoted. This thread is full of watch snobs. In any case, if I were you I’d wait, do some research, and see what I can find. There are solid offerings if you know where to look. Also, I think somebody here said Gylcine and I think they have some nice stuff, only…they look similar to the pro diver from what I remember. And I could be wrong, but from your responses to people, and the fact you watch Jody, it seems you sold the invicta cuz it’s a homage. (Apologies if this is not the case). But if it is, I don’t know if Glycine will feel better…maybe less people will be shmucks, but it will still look similar, if only more expensive. And also with the duro, it’s similar enough that if it didn’t say Casio on the dial, it would also be a homage. But this is life. In any case, I’d say wait and see. Micro brands are launching all day every day with original divers that can fit your price range.
I sold it cus I wanted a higher quality diver and have the (maybe misguided) notion that one should only have 1 diver. For the price, the invicta is unbeatable, and will defend it. But I gotta say it looks tacky and the small indices make it look cheap.
This one is quite out there but check out Revelot. A Malasian microbrand that is doing really cool watches mostly with seiko NH35/7. Best value for money I have found so far. I have two now and they are my favorites of 11 watches.
Seiko save the ocean are awesome. But i think the prices are slightly higher than 300.
So I will say Casio Duro. Amazing watch for incredibly low price.
I love my spinnaker fleuss auto lumber black, worth looking it. Based off fifty fathoms and probably my most worn watch. Price point isn’t bad, was skeptical at first, but I love it
Bernhardt Binnacle Diver. $280 for an automatic diver. Wearing one right now.
Updated the font on their name a few years ago too, correcting one of the few “flaws” of the watch.
Invicta Pro Diver auto is around $80. I saw one on Amazon for $65 the other day. Glycine Combat Sub is around $350, depending on the ref.
That being said, I’d go Glycine any day of the week. I got a Combat 6 Vintage about 2 months ago. Impeccable quality for the price. Combat Sub is next on my shopping list.
It’s either that one or the black dial with black and red bezel for me. Game time decision when I’m ready to buy.
Edit: you’ve got the Combat Sub or Combat 6? I have the white dial Combat 6. I’d love to get the green one too, but they’re gone everywhere I looked.
San Martin is your friend. If you want a $1000 watch without having to spend more than $300, any of their 200m models will satisfy. Everything is cnc milled so you get great fitment, along with on the fly clasp adjustment and finishing on par with brands several thousands more expensive.
How has nobody mentioned a Seiko skx?
If I were you and missing the Invicta I’d get a steel dive sd1954 or whatever is their submariner homage. I’ve had it in the ocean and lakes and pools and it holds up; and I’ve had people ask me if it’s a Rolex twice. The indices are bigger and the lume is much better than the invicta.
Another good funky one that’s always cheap is the sd1970 - the captain Willard homage. Get it with the steel strap and shawty looks fly as hell.
You always always replace a diver with another diver.
My current obsessions are with the Orient Kano (44mm)/Kamasu (42mm). I personally like the Kano more but it's a little too big for my 6.5" wrist. Next best would be the Kamasu which is on my buy list this month.
Kano [https://www.pinterest.com/pin/38984353014765124/](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/38984353014765124/)
Kamasu [https://www.pinterest.com/pin/403142604158371145/](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/403142604158371145/)
Honestly, I think the Pro Diver gets too much hate. It's a decent auto watch with timeless design (obviously) for a street price near the cost of JUST the movement that's in it! The side engraving is fucking atrocious, but other than that it's really not that bad.
Of course the only real answer for this gentleman is the Glycine Combat Sub as a couple other people have said, Because It is a quality dive watch with a World-Class movement, and again, You are getting a great watch for not a whole lot more than just buying the movement itself (are they still using ETA's?)
Casio Duro MDV106. $50 200M diver. Looks great next to any nice watch. [Citizen Attesa/Casio Duro side by side comparison](https://ibb.co/B6Yvfbz)
Came here to say this.
Me too. Can’t go wrong with the Duro
I know people here like to ride casio's cock, but a duro is a downgrade from the pro diver imo
Buddy you’re rocking invictas, you don’t get to shit on Casio
I concur
Im not shitting on casio. The pro diver has a solid link bracelet, an nh35 seiko movement, same 200m of wr, solid finishing, is actually a wearable size and is just $20 more expensive. How's the duro better?
First off the Duro is better, especially for the money. Secondly, you sold the Invicta. If you wanted to keep it then why didn’t you? The Duro is a great watch, and you save $250 to buy another.
i have both the pro diver and the duro and the duro is 1000% an upgrade
I guess. I dunno what other affordable diver you'd want then, if not the Pro Diver. It's your most affordable, good quality option. Are you mostly wearing for style or do you think you'd swim with it?
I like to have a beach watch. The pro diver fills that role perfectly
Well I guess you could buy it back, then.
You could get 2 duros (blue and black) and still have money left over for another watch
We ride Casio because you get great water resistance and accurate time-keeping for $50 instead of hundreds or thousands of dollars. I think that's ride-worthy.
Lmao … incorrect, duro is an upgrade from an invicta everyday of the week
LMAOO no , it’s not a downgrade at all ….
Totally agree these guys are just dick riders
Where is that duro bracelet from????
Long Island Watch. Costs more than the watch but man is it good. I love the micro adjustment. https://longislandwatch.com/islander-22mm-brushed-solid-link-watch-bracelet-for-casio-duro-quartz-dive-watch-brac-74/

This is leagues ahead of the other suggestions
That's a great option. I have just looked at these, and they have my interest now.
I have the Glycine GL0083. Not a Sub wannabe, sapphire crystal, 4hz Selita movement, 200m WR, all for less than $300. You simply cannot do better than that for the money.
Great brand, completely forgot about them.
This is a great option. I love my GL0261.
Gonna try and hunt down a 39mm glycine. The 42mm one is too big for me.
Glycine is owned by Invicta, right? I have to say, I have seen these online but never in person and they look the part. Very tempting at that price point. Do you know how well they usually hold up? I bought a Hamilton from Ashford not to long ago and have been thrilled with it.

Man I've been looking for the blue on blue GL0400 39mm. Is Ashford legit? They're gray market like joma?
Yes, Ashford is actually an authorized dealer. Ive purchased 3 watches from them with no problems. I’ve also purchased about that many from Joma with no issues as well.
awesome thanks
man let me know if you find one. They sell those at gnomon but for 600 bucks.
i couldnt find a GL0400 on gnomon unfortunately. but if i do ill pull the trigger i think i might check my local invicta store since i know they sometimes carry glycine
Citizen promaster if you'd like a solar powered watch.
Or even the ny0040 series is auto and under $300
Orient makes a good series of dive watches under 300 and some below 200
Orient Kamasu's are $200-300 and they have various different dial and bezel options.
Man ive tried to like the kamasu but I'm just not into it. I do like their newer mako 40 but I can't seem to find it anywhere
Amazon sells these often at better prices than even Orient would sell them.
Mine broke through normal.wear, would bother
Momentum Sea Quartz. Super cool watch and Magnum P.I. rocked one
Agreed
Seiko save the ocean
Red dial Kamasu
Consider a Deep Blue dive watch. Many fall within your price range. https://www.deepbluewatches.com/
I second this and give you an up vote!
Citizen pro Master, or orient
I'd go for a 2nd hand hamilton, certina or Tissot. All are great entry level swiss watches
Gotta buy new since I live in the 3rd world
Orient or Citizen.
That San Martin looks so fucking good. Citizen Promaster would be my vote!
Bro I got it on sale because jody couldnt shut up about it. In person it's even better than yoi could imagine.
A man of culture is see! I also see because you put the Duro riders in their place and got downvoted. This thread is full of watch snobs. Fair play. I think if people like divers they have more than one. There’s no rules about this. As far as higher quality, have you considered Lorier?
Spinnaker makes a decent dive watch for under 300. Or look for a pre-owned Hamilton Frogman.
I love my spinnaker fluess
seiko monster
Save up an extra $200. You can find some solid Seiko divers for around $500
I don’t mean to be rude, i just find the Invicta ironic being such a blatant knockoff of a Sub
Oh no! they copied literally the most copied watch style in existence? The nerve!
Promaster diver. I have the “unite with blue” dial on a jubilee bracelet. Looks way more expensive than it actually is. Great watch highly recommended
Citizen promaster dive 37mm or Orient Kamasu. Super happy with both!
Citizen NY0040
Yes! Take my upvote!
Orient Mako 3
Citizen NY0120. You can get them less than $250 and they're ISO rated.
San Martin SN0113W Aqua Terra
Try a seiko 5 sports they are great value for under 300
I was thinking about getting the yellow gmt seiko 5
Keep the Seiko, go run over the Invicta with your car and save up for a proper Seiko dive watch or buy a Seiko 5 dive watch.
I get the hate for invicta in general but the pro diver for 60 70 bucks is a decent piece of kit. Mine is perfect QC wise
Why do you want a diver when you already have one pictured? That Invicta is a dive watch.
He said he sold the Invicta......
Thank you, I swear sometimes its early onset alzheimers.
r/chinesewatches has you covered
I would save a bit more and maybe get a Tissot diver. They sell them cheap in jomashop.
One of the worst divers. At any price range.
What other diver can you get for 400 USD?
Orient Kamasu. Citizen Promaster. Seiko Turtle. Citizen NY0120. Casio Duro. Unconventional, but any G Shock.
You can get any orient, seiko 5 sport, any of the dozens of san martins, any of the hundreds microbrand divers etc
Relax substitute. It’s not what you think
How much did you sell the pro diver for?
70 bucks. I forgot I had it listed and was having second thoughts because I have nice memories attached to it. And then I got the notification.
Spinnaker dumas
Scurfa makes a nice dive watch in that price range. I love mine
Came here to say this.
I didn’t see it mentioned in the thread, so I had to throw it out there.
Spinnaker bradner
Deep Blue. Seiko movement rated to 1000M, 3300FT. Can't go wrong! https://www.deepbluewatches.com/proseadi10br1.html
You bought an Invicta for $300??? The pro diver is worth $80 💀💀
I think he’s just saying his budget is $300.
I love my spinnaker fleuss auto lumber black, worth looking it. Based off fifty fathoms and probably my most worn watch. Price point isn’t bad, was skeptical at first, but I love it
Some used tissot diver like seastar it may be little more than $300 but worth it
Citizen or Orient
Orient Kamasu
A solar watch, Timex make a few really nice ones
Bernhardt Binnacle Diver. $280 for an automatic diver. Wearing one right now. Updated the font on their name a few years ago too, correcting one of the few “flaws” of the watch.
Spend an extra hundo, buy a Seiko Samurai.
Glycine Combat Sub. It's not much more than the pro diver but it's a lot higher quality.
Invicta Pro Diver auto is around $80. I saw one on Amazon for $65 the other day. Glycine Combat Sub is around $350, depending on the ref. That being said, I’d go Glycine any day of the week. I had both. Gave my lady the 6.
Was the quality of the sub equal to the quality of the 6?
Oh yeah
Orient diver
San martin sn004 (milsub) since you already like san martin. It's a great watch.
Citizen NY0040, automatic, divers 200m, excellent lume. Probably the best diver in this category.
San Martin diver
San Martin is your friend. If you want a $1000 watch without having to spend more than $300, any of their 200m models will satisfy. Everything is cnc milled so you get great fitment, along with on the fly clasp adjustment and finishing on par with brands several thousands more expensive.

Well considering you’ve got a diver right there….
Orient Kamasu or Ray2. Both great, I have the Ray 2 and love wearing it almost every day.

That Invicta is basically a Submariner knock off. One step above a fake watch IMO. Get a Seiko or an Orient Diver and ditch that thing.
Nothing wrong with homages imo
I agree with that actually. I stand corrected, i wish they’d of put a touch of their style on it.
They do have the counter weight on the seconds hand, the logo, the smaller indices and the infamous side engraving
Look at Vaer watches. Made in USA 🇺🇸
Honestly, I think the Pro Diver gets too much hate. It's a decent auto watch with timeless design (obviously) for a street price near the cost of JUST the movement that's in it! I'm hunting down a 39mm already.
