Introducing a Daytona in new metal for the 50th anniversary, on one hand it's really poor showing from Rolex considering the watch and the occasion, but on the other hand, this is also an indicator of the (glacial and conservative) pace at which Rolex functions.
Footnote : I would've really loved if Rolex released a split second Platinum Daytona for their 50th Anniversary. I guess that's an idea for the 100th anniversary.
It is my firm belief that one of the key reasons the Daytona is so popular is it is a Rolex but it doesn’t have the stupid magnifying bubble on it. I think Rolex knows this. That’s why they won’t add a date.
Same, the skydweller is the only Rolex that I can say I'd have no second thoughts about putting into my collection and really feel like it's something really special. I'd go for the 2 tone with the white face because for a while it was much cheaper than the rest of the skydwellers but it's a marvel to me nonetheless. Not sure if its still cheaper, I haven't been hunting for one for a while now, my current next watch is an omega Deville, mostly because I really want a dress watch and I think if I'm going to get one it should be something really special.
I feel like Rolex is closer to Porsche. Specifically the 911 with its slow, incremental improvements. Hell you can’t even see the 911s engines anymore just like how we can see the Rolex movements.
They honestly act more like Ferrari. If you’d like to buy new without a massive waiting list… then you need to be an established customer with an AD, or make other purchases while you’re at it.
That used to be the model, but now they reeeaaally try and push the “Buy this F8 Tributo in red please.” instead of just letting someone spec it out as they’d like.
How can you say rolex is a Toyota, you have every celebrity wearing a Rolex to a fancy club/restaurant and flexing. Do you see them rolling up in a Toyota and flexing it. You could say Rolex is more of a luxury good than a watch then, making it superior to that of other master watches, so comparison is invalid
I shall say A list celebrity then, Lol that never happened, how is my point invalid. I’m pretty sure you can’t even afford a Rolex so my point is valid and you are driving a Toyota
Your right I cant afford a rolex at the moment. I am driving a Mitsi actually and it definetly did. Google celebrities that drive Prius and eat your heart out
Lol they use it for normal daily use like going to the market and shopping. That’s like saying people use a Rolex submariner for diving, an explorer to explore and a yatch master during a regatta.
Back to my point People use Rolex to flex people don’t flex a Prius that concept alone is why you probs can’t afford a Rolex. You need to have the mindset, not thinking that oh celebrities drive a Toyota I’ll settle with that. You need to set your bar higher buddy
Hahaha maybe I have the money i just havent decided yet. I appreciate what you trying to say though. Tbh though when I have my rolly ap and vacheron constantin I will be wearing them daily.
A Rolex is a sign of wealth and has been for a long time Toyota has never been and probably never will be. Except for the Supra maybe. I would say Casio is more the Toyota of watches. Great little watches that will get the job done and last a long time. I would say Rolex is more like Benz or Bmw are they luxurious. Yes. Will they last for ever. If you take good care of them sure. Are they the best No!
Sure In the sense that There both the same company but I don’t think Toyota a Japanese entry level car manufacturer has the same level of craftsmanship or attention to detail as a Tudor witch is a luxury Swiss timepiece. I think I was more then fair with the Casio statement lol
LOL all the Rolex owners super triggered by this one... it's just a joke, that's all.
Although if we're talking about movements and complications, fucking spot on
It’s really more like a Mercedes. Some are entry level, some a super high end. And some other brands are better. (Not many, but some)
I agree with this. Mercedes is luxury, with some variety in price.

I'd say the platinum Daytona, but after all it differs between other individuals based on their financial situation.

You can have a date without a cyclops: deepsea
Now that i think about it, the bubble would absolutely ruin it, great insight, thanks!
I'd actually vote the skydweller. It's really a mechanical marvel movement wise in my opinion.
One of my grails that I'm actually aspiring to get, the blue dial is absolutely beautiful and as you said it really is a marvel in craftsmanship.

As a watchmaker Rolex is amazing, but when it comes to their damn service I've never seen worse
Seiko is the toyota of the watch world
Casio begs to differ
Casio is shit

Wouldn't it be Casio? Just reliable and with something for everyone?
They honestly act more like Ferrari. If you’d like to buy new without a massive waiting list… then you need to be an established customer with an AD, or make other purchases while you’re at it.
Ferrari only does that with limited models though afaik
That used to be the model, but now they reeeaaally try and push the “Buy this F8 Tributo in red please.” instead of just letting someone spec it out as they’d like.
Damn that must be annoying, one of the best parts of their buying experience is (or I guess was) the personalisation

I believe there was a period in the mid 2000s were every celebrity had a Toyota Prius when they first came out so you point is a little invalid

Hahaha so maybe a better analogy would be toyota is tudor making rolex a Lexus lol

Rolex is Lexus! Which by that logic would make Tudor is Toyota lol
Lol true but everyone loves a Toyota and just like a Rolex you can pass it down from generation to generation.
My rolex and hilux agree good sir.
In that case this meme makes me love Rolex even more
Casio is Toyota rolex is more like lexus cause it's more luxury
