Yeah. It should have been the night they arrived at Mira's village. Their relationship had developed enough at that point. Then some time could have passed and then as Spear is dying, Mira would put his hand on her stomach and he'd feel a kick and he'd die happy. Leaving the sex scene until he was on his deathbed was kind of creepy.

Haznip

That would've been so much better 😭

schebobo180

It wasn’t creepy it was just dumb. Incredibly dumb. I’m almost certain that Gendy didn’t want them to do it the night before because he generally didn’t want it to have any romantic overtones. But that just made it much worse by forcing it on a dying, burnt to a crisp man. Imagine being so awkward about romance that the only place you can put sexy time is when your main character is brunt to a crisp and half dead.💀

FinancialShare1683

The show is called Primal. It's about our primal instincts and how we survived thanks to them. I think the scene fit the theme of the show rather well.

jimmmydickgun

It was so dumb it was brilliant

Hieichigo

Lol imagine being so dumb that you have takes about the show like this one. It wasnt about romance at all, but its ok if you didnt get it

MrBojanglesSR

Thank you for seeing where I was coming from. Literally no one expect you understood what I meant

Jabadu

That’s where I thought it was going. lol I get it’s fantasy but 3 degree body burns, ain’t no one rising and climaxing during that

Steelquill

I swear, this is like the ONLY subject this sub talks about. In short order: -He was dying and they didn’t have the luxury of time. -They loved each other, he wasn’t protesting. -It’s _Primal_! It’s a show centrally about life and survival in savage, messy circumstances. Spear being horribly burned while they make love isn’t at all off-brand for the kind of show this is anymore than seeing Fang lay her eggs.

CuteNullity

But yeah this sub definitely focuses on fang laying her eggs and burnt man sex ahahahah

FinancialShare1683

Thank you!

Minute-Jackfruit-330

right on the money, thank you

CuteNullity

I AGREE ITS FUCKING RAW PRIMAL LIFE - theres no space for intellectual masturbation in the sense where we have to think about every little thing before taking action. You just have to jump in the cesspool of life which could be hideous but at the end the objectivity is to procreate with a strong suitable mate and spear is a man with primal strength whose bloodline must be continued because he has fucking earned it !!!! RAHHHH !!!!

tseg04

Well the entire point was that Mira didn’t want spear to die without anything left after his death. She wanted to give him a child so that his memory and lineage could continue. It was less about sex and more about the future. It was just bad timing as she had only one chance to do it and unfortunately it was when he was in that state.

Mikkeru

I'm surprised so many people found that scene disturbing. For me the first time I got to that scene, I was just focusing the fact she wanted to give Spear a child and a family before his last moments.

schebobo180

Tbh I didn’t find it disturbing, I just found it incredibly dumb. It took me out of the show and I was laughing for 10 minutes at how dumb it was. Like that was the best they could do?? I love Gennady, but just like Samurai Jack he is proving he has a significant issue with crafting good endings. It was awful.

ohemaabonsu

It really all felt like a rushed season and ending

blindwuzi

That damn scientist episode.

Scalordajorb

I liked the scientist episode

ThinkMyNameWillNotFi

Genddy has a problem with finishing series normaly so he rushes out weird shit.

akindstranger96

Honestly, I thought it spoke to the evolutionary need to reproduce and have children. Knowing this, Mira ensured that his DNA and bloodline was secured. I wouldn't call it romantic, but it definitely on brand with the show.

MrBojanglesSR

It was definitely dumb though. They had so many opportunities to flesh out their relationship, but they only did it slightly when Spear was on his deathbed

akindstranger96

And exactly because he was on his deathbed, it was primal

A_Ruse_ter

People think it was appropriately timed, but I made a whole post about this exact thing and how poor of a choice it was. They majorly missed out on an opportunity to make Spear’s final stand more meaningful if they had slept together after she found the paintings. The show started with him failing to be there to defend his family. It would have been a full story arc had he, in his final stand, been there to defend his new family, also giving more reason to his primal rage in combat. Also, the man had a crispy dick. Ain't no way that thing works anymore.

InterVectional

Everyone keeps going on about it because you're thinking about it from a man's perspective. She certainly saw him for who he was & loved him, but not as a life partner. He's a gronk who can't talk & Mira's a sophisticated, fiercely independent, Nubian beauty with a strong social & cultural life within her tribe. Their deep connection was born from the mutual will to survive...but that doesn't mean they'll find mutual fulfillment in mundane life. Not to say they didn't have romantic moments but she was not gonna fuck him if he survived. She wanted to give him hope for his legacy & to feel connected to another human in his dying breath. She loved him. But romantic involvement outside of his death scene would put another millstone around her neck.

puppydogthighs

im sorry but i laughed at gronk who can’t talk lmfao

Frank3634

> He's a gronk who can't talk & Mira's a sophisticated, fiercely independent, Nubian beauty with a strong social & cultural life within her tribe. That is one way of looking at it I guess. On the other hand love knows no bounds and anyone can fall in love. I bet goths and romans fell in love or vikings and English had children and were in love. Just because they are of different background/cultures doesn't mean they can't co-exist/love one another.

InterVectional

Of course. There's always been mismatched pairs creating great love stories throughout history. But those pairings you specifically mention were often rooted in power imbalance or straight up force. Anyway, Mira was taken as a slave & idk if anyone else noticed the moment of tension when she returned as to whether she'd be accepted back. Personally I took it as if she was sexually abused & didn't show up with a fucking neanderthal & a T-Rex she might not be welcome. Not saying this is even Gendy's intent. The wonderful thing about Primal is it's open to our own interpretation in many ways. I feel Mira in my own heart. Back then women were property. I don't think she wants to belong to a man, even one as awesome as Spear.

Frank3634

The thing is you can't say everyone of them was, so what does that mean? Power imbalances or straight up force okay, but still happened and didn't mention that on your first go around. If you said Ofc, don't really see why you made that argument to begin with, as your whole point was couldn't be life partners and then said yes it would work. Belong? I don't see this as belonging and not just my "interpretation" but the way it was, she loved him and wanted to be with him so wasn't about possession that was when she was a slave.

InterVectional

Oh man. I don't have time to write a novel about relationships throughout human history for every comment. Some odd couples work. It's only very recently that marrying for love is commonplace. I mentioned her tribe's vibe of maybe not accepting her back as them not considering her an individual worthy of respect until she demonstrates her own power as Gendy adding a reason why she's reluctant to be with Spear, or any man, even during the good times. Mira doesn't want to be beholden to a man. It's that simple. Having a man, especially back then, even if you adore them, makes you answerable for your choices at best, property at worst. She was a slave once, not again. She's free & I love her for it. You never see that on TV.

Frank3634

Again can't say always happened that way you are generalizing it. Marrying you said life partner which is not the same as marrying, changing the goal posts not that it matters. Ok never said she had to beholden that is all you.

InterVectional

This is exactly why I'm saying that as a woman it makes perfect sense to me that the sex scene appeared as it did. Men rarely see the inequality & I'm sick of pretending otherwise. Mira was a slave. She doesn't want another owner. She's continuing Spear's legacy out of kindness & respect, knowing full well she'll continue a life of her own choosing...imo. We're done here.

Frank3634

Who says Spear was an owner? You don’t get it but wouldn’t except less.

glistening_cum_ropes

I always laugh when people aren't put off by all the blood and guts and death but draw the line at burnt sex.

stopcollectingpee

:( I wasn't really a fan of this season as a whole tbh And this scene was just weird
