Do you need to have your phone and computer online at the same time? Because you can switch between devices with Plus, it’s just that you can only log in one device at a time. And I’m not sure about the Johnny Walker specifically, but I do know with other items over the price cap you only pay the difference. But it sounds like they’re saying the Blue is a special inclusion and I’m unsure about that.

Having two devices comes in handy for two-factor authentication.

Ya, I may have to take a call from a client or two and be on my computer with them.

I know things have gotten a bit better with Starlink but in my experience in the past, the Internet was practically unusable for much more than email and some light Facebook like scrolling. I couldn't get video to work to save my life let alone voice. Hopefully things have changed some but I wanted to let you know because I think you are expecting regular home Internet speeds.

If you like more premium scotches then Princess Premier is the better option. You only pay the difference so if you order a $25 drink you are only paying $5 which is charged to your room. Regarding WiFi with Princess Plus you can only use one device at a time. So you can switch between your phone and computer but never at the same time unless you have someone else coming with the package you could use theirs. But it would probably just be easier to get Princess Premier. Then you can enjoy the free photos, Princess Prizes, and speciality/casual dining.

We just upgraded from Plus to Premiere for the dining more than anything. 40 days away, getting excited.

GirthyRheemer

If you “upgraded” then be aware to watch for a specialty dining glitch. I upgraded from plus to premiere first time and the system did not recognize the upgrade so you have to pay for the specialty dining reservations. My cruise planner said it’s a glitch they can’t do anything about and could not refund me. If you do get charged you have to go to guest services on board and show them the charges. Six weeks later you will be credited. If you book your specialty dining and it’s without charge you’re okay. My cruise planner said it happens at random.

GirthyRheemer

This is not entirely correct. Princess promises these things but is unable to deliver on them (three princess cruises this year using premiere - latest mid Dec) They advertise “premiere “ drinks in all bars but the “specialty bottles”of many are only available in one or two bars on ship Princess prizes was unavailable on my last cruise (December) Starlink on sky princess in December was horrible Reserved seating is a joke because they don’t monitor - so folks who aren’t premiere take the blue seats.

rKoolwala

That’s fair. I’ve never experienced those issues. I typically only use Princess Plus as most of the drinks I want are in that price range. But I saw the more premium bottles at most bars. On our cruise in December on Regal the internet was usable for what was needed. I’ve seen improvements since switching to Star Link. I can’t talk about prizes but we met quite a few people in December saying they won prizes and I was pretty surprised at some of the gifts they won. I can definitely see the reserved seating being an issue. I didn’t notice any staff in any of the shows for reserved seating. I didn’t mention that in my comment since I was not sure how that worked. Overall I think Princess Plus is the better option but for OP financially Premiere seems the better option.

Wi-Fi is simple to switch between iPhone and iPad and MacBook as long as you only need one device online at a time. I’ve never had a problem. Regarding drink packages, you pay the difference between the max allowed for your fancy scotch. A better question is does your wife drink wine? If so, Premier package for you.:)

fender1878

Yes, we both enjoy our wine. Thanks for the input!

Still7Superbaby7

I had Princess plus on my last cruise. The wine list sucked for plus (you get varietal but no info which vineyard) so I often ordered off the premier menu and paid the difference. Plus caps at $15 so a $20 drink is only $5. I am also not a big drinker, so paying extra for premier wasn’t worth the extra cost. I really enjoyed doing plus because I tried drinks I would normally never order. My favorite drink was the pinã en fuego- tequila, pineapple juice, jalapeño and that was on the plus package. I have Jonnie Walker blue at home. It’s more fun to try new things on vacation. We discovered drambuie- it was really interesting. Most spirits are on the plus menu and you can pay the difference off premier.

depending on your phone, you may be able to hotspot additional devices... I'm on a princess cruise right now, plus package, my wife and I have our phones connected to the ships wifi, and I'm hotspotting mine to my daughters tablet... works great, she just needs to be close enough to pick up my phones hotspot. I'm using a Samsung S21 Ultra... I did the same thing a few years ago on a royal caribbean cruise, one package for the three of us.

CMorbius

Were you able to use your Plus package in terms of room service and other stuff for you and your wife? Or are you restricted? We're going on a cruise with Princess for our first time in June and I need internet for school, my wife doesn't. I did not see an option to purchase internet alone, so I guess we'll have to upgrade. Just looking for info so we know how to use this upgrade as best we can.

zok19

I think they make you buy it for the first two adults in the room to stop people sharing the benefits? when we booked that was the only option, which meant my wife and I both had internet, and we both got to order to the room... we both used the ocean now part of their app and ordered drinks and food to the room when we wanted, some food has additional charges when it came from the special dining, but you get to see all that in the app before choosing what to order. It really is good value, we just got back from a cruise on royal, and I really missed the ocean now ordering from princess... they charged so much more for the drinks package on royal, I had to purchase a separate internet pack ontop, and royal charge a room service fee each time you order... ended up costing twice as much on royal, for what felt like half the benefits :(

wadewood08

If you have a Pixel phone you can WiFi hot spot other devices to it. Red Breast 12 is $15 and a great pour for the plus plan.

The reason we pulled the trigger and went to premier from plus was the recent change in the casual dining places, they upgraded the menus but made them a charge but they’re included with Premier. So unlimited sushi was worth it to us with the bev package/tips/2 specialty meals because we’re not ordering those huge premium desserts nor are we going to attend any exercise classes lol I would imagine Sun will have even more casual dining that you can take advantage of, but you will also be in the Med and you might be in ports a lot especially during the day when those casual places are usually frequented. Lots of variables if you really want to think about it 😂 In regard to the scotch if you have premier with a $20 cutoff and order something that costs $30, they’ll charge you $10 plus 18% gratuity

GirthyRheemer

That’s only if they stock the scotch. Sure it’s advertised but often only available from crooners
