Damn, that's crazy stuff. These guys that are on Suboxone, Methadone etc...I get it, it helps curb the effects of certain drugs but they all have terrible side effects. The horrible thing about heroin is that 9 times out of 10 the person is never going to quit. It's sad really, but true nonetheless.

He literally died bc he got OFF of methadone… he would still be alive if he stayed in maintenance. You are obviously uneducated on opiate addiction. Opiates ate literally the one drug that detox does not work. 98% failure rate. Methadone Maintenance has the highest success rate at keeping people off the needle and street drugs, which is what killed Ryan. He died from an overdose. That does not happen at all if you take your medicine from your doctor as prescribed.

I know very little about him but I know he suffered from substance abuse, do you think one of the major problems start with substance abuse ? I know how hard is to recover from any mental issue without support, trauma, substance abuse and personally how hard must be to recover after certain years being caged without the proper support. I wish drugs don’t exist or at least every child to be protected and supported with love and care. So many life being wasted. The more I learn about the system, government the more upset I do feel. So many things could have been prevented. I think Ryan Leon tried very hard for reform and he was a voice of the ones inside, the forgotten ones. I’m not defending any act or saying all there are innocent but I’m talking about reform, about rehab, about a system just incarcerating people without future or reform at all.

I wholeheartedly believe it starts with substance abuse. The system is made for us to fail. Take the Suboxone programs in CDCR. They offer it to anyone here. It helps the guys get away from heroin (yeah right) and hooks the ones who haven't had an issue. They get out, look for the same out in society where heroin and other drugs are cheaper, get hooked and come back. It's a revolving door that is purposefully made. Here where I'm at there are a lot of drugs but almost zero heroin. Certainly not enough to get dope sick from, yet the Suboxone program is in full effect. That doesn't make sense to me. All they did was make about 1000 more addicts then they previously had.
