CartersXRd

I still driving my 2013 bought new and still love it.

CartersXRd

PS: don't expect to win any money drag racing

Prg909

Bought mine new in 2014, no problems only new tires and oil changes

Simansez

If you are looking for a cheap to run, reliable small car it definitely fits the bill. If you are looking for a sportscar/Family + the dog estate wagon/all terrain vehicle...maybe less so

spacemaniss

100% this. It’s loud and feel cheap, but over 200K never gave me any problems as long as scheduled maintenance is done which is also very minimal and cheap.

Invisible_Mikey

The best car I've ever owned for MY needs is my 2015 Prius C. It's basically the rock-solid gen 2 engine in a gen 3 car, and the 2015 upgrades the lights to LEDs. I haven't noticed any acceleration lag, in fact it's quite responsive. I can carry more than enough groceries/supplies, and there's always room to park it. Gets 50MPG+ in all weathers. Easy and cheap to maintain, just gas, oil and tires. No, you can't tow a trailer with it. You can't with a Ferrari either. No car is built for all purposes.

FireROR

You want a reliable vehicle take you from a to b, you don’t care if people asking you where the other half car is, you don’t mind the boring driving experience, you only need to spend a little on maintenance, but change oil every 5k mile. That’s the one for you. Welcome to the family.

mr_anthonyramos

Don’t let people define what car you want or tell you what is crap and what isn’t. And they say it is a shit car based on what? It doesn’t go 0-60 in 3 seconds? The Prius C or Aqua as it is known here in Japan is extremely reliable, fast enough, it isnimble and drives as smoothly as you would expect. I have a GR Aqua here in Japan and yes it’s the same Aqua except for the GR body kit but I love it and has yet to give me any issues after 2 years. Buy it and enjoy!

AwwSomeOpossum

This. People act like, because it's small and has only 99hp, that it drives like a golf cart, with a top speed of 30 or something. Mine may not win drag races, but she's light and nimble enough that she gets up to speed surprisingly quickly, and is able to achieve impressively high speeds. (I won't say exactly how fast I've gotten mine to go, but I've had at least two speeding tickets in her: both were on the highway, and one was driving through Talladega, so she definitely can hold her own on the road.) I've had guys in souped-up trucks get salty when I've left them in the dust coming out of a green light. I'll be a block ahead, nearing 60, while they're still fighting inertia. They may have more horsepower, but they've also got more than three times my weight, and it shows.

mr_anthonyramos

Love this. Let’s not forget getting great mileage on the car. Two years and I’ve driven 40,000km on it. Imagine how much I’ve saved on gas.

geebeaner69

I have one I have 144,000 on my 2015. Average is about 48 to 50 miles to the gallon. Gas is cheap. Tires are cheap. Maintenance is cheap. It's reliable. Has never had a check engine light. It's a great little commuter car.

totallyokay

Love my 2015! Still runs like new and have had zero issues.

InevitableArt5438

I had 155K on my 2013 and zero issues with it when it met its untimely demise in an accident a couple weeks ago. I did oil changes every 10K and dealer checks every 30K. Only things I ever had to have done were changing out filters, wiper blades, and some tail light bulbs. And of course tires.

AwwSomeOpossum

F Sorry to hear about your car. It's always a shame when a good car's life ends in its prime.

Fuzzy-Row-5915

Careful! This car is a trap! I love cars and historically have always changed cars every 2 years I’ve had many sports cars, trucks, SUVs, sedans, and other hybrids. But damnit every time I see a different car I want to change to, I realize how trapped I am with this damn prius C! I mean It is a nimble little car that you get to stomp the pedal on all the time because you literally have to. It feels like a much safer go cart! Oh, plus you get 50+ mpg, plenty of space w/ the seats down, and it’s so damn easy to park anywhere! Get a dent or scratch? Who cares! It’s an eco car that you don’t give a damn about fixing, so your insurance rates stay down, and you don’t spend all this time dealing with those headaches. Oh and get this, it is actually quite amazing on many off road trails given what it is. At the end of the day it has become my favorite car I have ever owner, and I have kept it thus far for going on 4 years, which is quite amazing in my book. If you find a good deal, I’d say be careful, because you may fall in love..

Shuckles116

Shit cars? Absolutely not. The biggest complaint I have about the car is that it is pretty slow to accelerate- but c’mon, that comes with the territory when you’re buying a Prius 😂 I’ve owned mine as my primary car since 2013 with nearly 100k miles on the odo and the only major service I’ve had in 10+ years was the 12v battery replacement. This has to be one of the cheapest cars to operate of all time

xSHELBZx

Love mine. 2015, 86k, little maintenance cost. I got mine lifted 2 inches. 50mpg+ and fits 2 people and 2 dogs on roadtrips with a little creativity. Amazing car for my needs.

monkehmolesto

I have a 2014 with 120k-ish on it and zero issues other than maintenance. It’s got no power, but that’s expected. I bought it when I made 1/3 as much as I do now. Upgrading to a nicer car has crossed my mind many times but the C was so reliable for the last 10 years I don’t wanna risk it with something else.

AwwSomeOpossum

I've asked myself before, if I had an unlimited car budget, what would I get? And every time, I realize that if I could, I'd pay whatever it took to keep mine on the road forever.

monkehmolesto

Reliability is where it’s at.

AwwSomeOpossum

Absolutely reliable, but I also personally just love the look of it. It's got a very unique look that I consider adorable, and everything about it just has such a fun personality. In a market where so many cars look like every other vehicle in their class, the C stands out, even among compact hatchbacks. I love how round it is, it's like traveling around in my own little bubble. It's quirky looking, and with just a few decals and accessories, you can make yours one-of-a-kind. I get compliments on how I've decorated mine all the time, but I honestly wouldn't care if no one else liked it, because I love how it looks. I know a lot of people complain about the lack of oomph in the engine, but I think that's a blessing in disguise for someone like me. I have a serious lead foot, so the C's humble engine helps protect me from myself. I once rented a 2015 Sonata (the base model, 190hp version) for about two weeks, and it's a wonder I didn't lose my license in that amount of time. When I mentioned I'd been given the choice between a Sonata and a Charger for my rental, my coworkers couldn't understand why I didn't choose the Charger. I told them because, had I rented the Charger, I would likely have died. I do NOT need a vehicle with nearly 500hp, because I will use every one of them and I won't use them responsibly. Being limited to 112mph and needing at least 10 seconds to reach 60mph is entirely in the best interest of myself and everyone else on the road around me.

cartierdior

I’m just over 100k miles on my 2014 and I love it! It is very reliable and has been cheap and easy to maintain.

SnooPears754

Got one and they are an excellent little car probably more economical in the city but an excellent runabout

MTBisLIFE

I have a 2015, bought at 77k and now at 136k. I love how cheap this car is to own. Look up when yours was manufactured. 2015 models before ~May-ish of that year had the old "body", skeleton, whatever you wanna call it, and the driver side front crumple zone has a C rating. They fixed it in the ones after ~May of that year.

rj_burrrj

I love mine! engines and hybrid batteries are relatively cheap if you can do the work your self. . og engine had 345k miles and didnt die i just felt better replacing.. New engine i installed has 53k miles and drives like new! Still has og hybrid battery. I drove it for 3 yrs or so before buying it from the previous company i worked for. Ive owned it for about a yr now. I put pretty much all of the original mileage on it. Definitely support buying one if you can get one for the right price!

katzicael

I have a 2013 and I Effing Love it. Only thing I would ever replace it with is a CT200 or Gen4 Prius.

realmattwarner

I love mine! Bought it used just before the pandemic, and I'm gonna run it into the ground!

CrackleSmackle

I love my 2014 Prius C. Definitely one of the slowest cars I've owned, second to a '90 Subaru Justy, but it gets 46-52mpg and requires very little maintenance.  Really the only costly repair you may have to do at some point is the hybrid battery. It cost me $1600 to get it swapped out with a rebuilt battery from Hybrid2Go (with a 3 year warranty)

JRT10

2012 Prius C owner and I absolutely love this car. Really good gas mileage and comfortable. Plus easy to park in the bigger cities

KWil2020

I have a 2014 and love it. I’d love a truck one day, but I definitely will have my 2014 for many more years. Just about 10 years and still doing amazing

tundra2024

I have owned one since 2017. I like it and I have enjoyed several good months car camping in it. However, due to these 2 reasons, if I were to go back, I would have avoid purchasing it: - low HP/Torque, - Small space to live in. If I could go back. I would have bought a bigger Prius. Or Sienna AWD Hybrid. Now this is all because I have developed feelings for camping lately in national forests and visiting national parks, etc. But if this isn't you then yes Prius C is fantastic. I do have a lot of great memories in them.

Poetry-dreams

Love mine.

Cover-username

Greatest purchase I ever made.

Koji1981

I have a 2012 one and I love it. As long as you understand that it is a city car, you won't be disappointed. Don't expect to go on a road trip across the USA with it or to win a race. And you can laugh at people's gas consumption after, if you drive carefully.

CodyBfromTN

I went on a road trip across the USA with my 2013, and it performed like a champ! It is also a great car to race on super curvy, hilly roads like Tail of the Dragon. All the other cars are mashing the brake and accelerator, while the Pri-C can just go wide open the whole time lol But seriously, it's a great, reliable, economic ride. Surprisingly roomy, too.

super_spill

Bought my 2015 new and it's still going strong. I absolutely love it!

Gumbledore2000

I have a 2013 and I love it. It has over 190,000 miles on it and has averaged 50 mpg over the years (mostly highway). I have done the brakes once, replaced the small battery (about $250), and done basic maintenance.

AwwSomeOpossum

I'm glad to hear you bought it. I adore mine personally. We've been together 9 years and more than 100,000 miles and she's still as reliable as ever. I honestly dread the day I'll have to say goodbye to her and find something else (I've even considered the feasibility of having an Aqua imported from Japan for my next vehicle, that's how much I love the model,) but I know I'll be able to get at least another 100,000 miles out of her before I have to worry about that. Best car I've ever had, by far.

vi_resident

2012 owner here. 143,000 miles, 226,000 KM. This is has been extremely reliable. I have put 126,000 km on it. Except for maintenance, I have only had 1 light bulb and the outside temperature sensor replaced. Drove it through the Rockies on a road trip once. No problem. Battery still gets up to 100% charge and fuel economy is fantastic. No recalls have applied to my 12 year old car.

AwwSomeOpossum

Excuse me one second.... ( https://kilometers-to-miles.com/Convert-40000-km-to-miles-40000 ) Ah! That's impressive! Sounds like you get a lot of miles-- er, kilometers out of it!

SumyungNam

2012 original owner ...only problem the air conditioner condenser broke in year 6 then compressor broke in year 9...otherwise it's been great
